...Week 5 Exercise Part 2 Josef Schilling CIS/211 March 9, 2015 Johnny Brooks Week 5 Exercise Part 2 Scenario 1 Susan, a pharmaceutical representative, has been assigned the responsibility to construct a presentation about a new drug that has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration. She has called the support desk regarding PowerPoint® and wants to know the main functions of this software. Susan’s gathered data includes graphs, videos, and statistics of the new drug. The first step I would take is to explain to Susan the basics of a PowerPoint presentation and give her the fundamental reasoning for using PowerPoint presentations in the business world, as well as other settings. I would expand on this by telling her why PowerPoint is a perfect method for explaining about the recent FDA drug approval. Since Susan has little to no experience using PowerPoint, there are some challenges that would have to be overcome. PowerPoint can look very complex if someone is not familiar with it. Having a guide to show its many features will help alleviate some stress. I would tell her about PowerPoint's ability to incorporate data, graphs, videos, images, and statistics. As a demonstration I would have her insert text and images to help her become comfortable with PowerPoint. After that, I would answer any questions she may have. After Susan finishes the practice presentation, I would have her send the results to my e-mail so I can see for myself how she is doing...

...Mayer (1995) states that ability is "the supervisor's perceived level of relevant skills, competencies and characteristics". In an organizational setting, this ability is often perceived by others as the person's performance on the job. The person's credentials can also be synonymous with their ability when in a managerial or supervisory role. Many theorists define this ability as a precursor to trust between individuals. Greenberg (1990) takes this a step further and defines ability as an essential element of trust, furthering the competence of the relationships built upon this model of trust. Sonnenberg (1994) explains this by saying that when a relationship is built on this framework of competence, the level of trust will automatically increase with time. In addition, when this perceived ability is tested and the competence is found, it reinforces any existing managerial and supervisory relationships, as subordinates see their superiors as trustworthy. Benevolence is defined by Mayer (1995) as the desire of a person to do good for others, as long as that desire for the other's good is not motivated by egocentric reasons. Konovsky (1994) says that benevolence is the fundamental foundation of a trust relationship. Lagace (1991) argues that subordinates need to assess the motivation of a superior before they will even initiate a trust relationship. Once a favorable assessment is made, and a person's benevolent motives are seen to not be self-serving, trust can be...

...MAXIMUM POWER POINT TRACKING Abstract - Energy crisis is the most important issue in today's world. Conventional energy resources are not only limited but also the prime culprit for environmental pollution. Renewable energy resources are getting priorities in the whole world to lessen the dependency on conventional resources. Solar energy is rapidly gaining the focus as an important means of expanding renewable energy uses. Solar cells those convert sun's energy into electrical energy are costly and inefficient. Different mechanisms are applied to increase the efficiency of the solar cell to reduce the cost. Solar tracking system is the most appropriate technology to enhance the efficiency of the solar cells by tracking the sun. A microcontroller based design methodology of an automatic solar tracker is presented in this paper. Light dependent resistors are used as the sensors of the solar tracker. The designed tracker has precise control mechanism which will provide three ways of controlling system. A small prototype of solar tracking system is also constructed to implement the design methodology presented here. Index Terms:- MPPT I. INTRODUCTION Now a day’s electricity generation using solar mobile has been growing fast day today. In order to obtain solar energy as much as possible, the study of the efficiency for PV systems has attracted many researchers and engineers attention. ...have on a firm in gaining a competitive advantage. I will first identify the seven types of layout strategies, and point out the purpose and importance of each layout strategy and touch upon the advantages and disadvantages of each. I will discuss considerations for each layout design along with the reasons to use each particular layout. I will cite four existing real-life examples of each using a different layout strategy to attain an advantage. I cite the example of how BMW is using an assembly line customization to improve profitability, the office layout trends of today to reduce costs and improve employee productivity, the recent trend in the hotel industry to redesign their lobby layout to increase revenue, and the Skecher’s warehousing layout strategy to reduce handling costs. Finally, I will conclude that an outstanding and effective layout strategy will give a firm a competitive advantage. Layout strategy is a critical part of an operations manager’s strategy decision. In this paper, I will identify and define the different types of layout, explain how to attain a good layout to have a productive process and how to balance production or service flow in many various service or product oriented industries. The proper strategic importances of layout decisions, the types of layout, layout design considerations and superior layouts to consider are points that I will discuss. There are many variables of layout that contain wide ranges of considerations in determining an...
