...CHAPTER I Introduction Background of the Study This study investigates whether PowerPoint presentations improve student’s learning and attitudes compared with traditional classroom presentations. While the use of PowerPoint and multimedia in the classroom has significantly increased globally in recent years (Connor and Wong, 2004; Bartsch and Cobern, 2003), few studies have systematically investigated its impact on student learning and attitudes. Rebele et al. (1998) note that little research exists regarding integration of technology in the accounting curriculum, and suggest that accounting researchers should examine whether technology improves learning. One study that has examined the relationship between multimedia and student learning and attitudes was conducted by Butler and Mautz (1996). In a laboratory experiment conducted during a 30-minute time period, they found that multimedia did not affect student recall in all situations. Butler and Mautz did find an interaction between the effects of the multimedia presentation and the student’s preferred class representation style (i.e., whether the student was considered a “verbal” or “imaginal” learner). To improve the quality of learning in our schools using multimedia is very effective in the teaching learning situation. It benefits the students to grasp information easily, to understand as much information as possible, to retain information longer and to gain knowledge that is observable and measured. Literally, multimedia...

...Diagnosing Plugin Errors One of the biggest causes of the PowerPoint application to crash is third party plugins. These are programs installed to enhance the PowerPoint experience by adding additional features or giving the user more options in the design of their presentations. As these programs were not written by Microsoft, the compatibility with your version of PowerPoint may not be stable enough and cause the application to fail to load files or even start up. Troubleshooting Plugins in PowerPoint The best way to troubleshoot problems with plugins is to start PowerPoint in safe mode and block the plugins from loading one at a time until the problem plugin is found. To do this you will first load PowerPoint into “safe mode”, this can be done by using the “windows key +R” to bring up the run menu and typing in “powerpnt /safe’. When PowerPoint loads the words (safe mode) will appear in the middle of the title bar. The plugins can be found in the File tab under the Options settings in the Add-Ins category. This will list the plugins that are installed, to disable one click the drop down menu at the bottom of the window and select COM Add-Ins then click the “Go” button, this will bring up a window that will allow you to uncheck plugins you wish to disable. Supporting Alternatives If the steps for disabling plugins prove to be too complicated for someone the next best solution is to return PowerPoint to its post installation state. To do this you will want to go...

...presentation software, Microsoft PowerPoint has long been the industry standard for presenting information to the masses. However, in 2009 a company based out of Budapest launched Prezi, cloud-based presentation software as an alternative to the well-established Microsoft product. Although both programs were exclusively designed as presentation software, there are some differences between the two that will be highlighted in the subsequent paragraphs. PowerPoint, a slide-based program developed by Microsoft, is presentation software that consists of a number of individual pages or slides. Prezi is a cloud-based presentation software tool that allows the user to create a presentation using a large, blank page instead of traditional slides. The distinguishing feature of this software is its zooming user interface which enables users to zoom in and out of their presentation media. PowerPoint is offered as part of a software package that has to be uploaded on a computer. Prezi, on the other hand is a free web-based, assessable program that is offered online and as a download for computer desktops. PowerPoint is a linear-based application that uses multiple slides to present information, almost acting as a teleprompter when the user is presenting information. Prezi is a non-linear application that uses panning and zooming features that tend to give it more of a cinematic feel as opposed to the traditional slideshow format of PowerPoint. When using PowerPoint, text inclusion is limited...

...Week Seven CheckPoint: Other Uses for Microsoft PowerPoint Dwayne L. Wright, Sr. PC Applications Support / IT 206 October 5, 2012 Ms. Edythe Doe People love a show but they also hate a long boring one. No matter the audience, topic or setting the idea is to keep the spectators attention from beginning to end; with the expectation of generating a dialogue when it’s over. Microsoft’s PowerPoint has the tools to get the job done. Creating a presentation isn’t as difficult as some may think. By following a few steps anyone can create a show that will impress with images, pictures and other visuals that can be animated with sound and other affects while successfully delivering a hard to forget message. Although versatile enough to transform any moment or information into a visual cornucopia, the process is time consuming. To begin, schedule and reserve time to complete the project in a timely fashion with allotment for previewing and editing. Gather and have all your information together and organized; message, graphics and other objects. PowerPoint offers several pre-formatted thematic options with background and orientation, text, font size, type \ style; and color scheme that help guide the content and format to the end. “Professionally designed standard layouts help you save time by formatting and creating content. You then can modify these layouts to create custom slides to fit your specific needs”(Gary B. Shelly, Thomas J. Cashman, Misty E...

...Abstract Businesses are constantly under pressure to keep up with ever-changing technology developments. The office workplace is changing rapidly and administrative professionals have greater responsibilities than ever before. What are the uses of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint in the workplace today and how do they make work easier for employers and employees? Imagine being in an office five, ten, or even fifteen years ago and you have to create a financial report for your investors. Computers are not there and you have to have a description of the past year's income and expenses, and also planned income and expenses for the coming year. You are to prepare financial charts of income and expenses accompanied by charts and graphs. Writing it all out, getting the graphics perfect, editing it all and then typing it all up, getting it copied and ready for your presentation would be a very discouraging task. Without the office tools of today, you would be writing on chalk boards and using charts created on pieces of paper. Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are available in most desktop publishing programs for preparing, editing, or handling any type of document you might need to work with. The uses of these programs are: • Microsoft Word Is a program used to create letters, reports, invitations and flyers for all types of businesses. ...Personal Philosophical Approach PowerPoint Presentation Michelle Williams University Of Tampa Personal Philosophical Approach Cover Page Audio. Hello, Professor Toole, the subject I have chosen to discuss is a personal philosophical approach. I have chosen this topic based on two significant business concepts. First and foremost is that everyone has their own and unique approach. The second concept is that this approach is used every day throughout one’s life. This presentation is based on two articles that subjects relate to the other. Objectives . This presentation will go over what I identified to be the two articles main objectives. The first objective is to identify one’s moral compass. The next objective is to identify one’s code of ethics, and lastly identify one’s cultural ethic background. In the following slides, I will discuss each objective in more detail to give you a greater understanding. Overview Audio. The two articles challenges readers to think about their personal philosophical approach. Some of the questions that one should think about is what exactly is your ethical philosophy? One can answer this question by evaluating where they received their moral compass. Another thought-provoking question is why do everyone’s values differ from each other? One can answer this by observing their cultural influences. Moral Compass Audio. In this slide, I will discuss moral compass. What exactly is a moral compass? A...

...1.With Google Glasses, the technology disappears from in front of you and you get data and applications in the context of what you’re doing or what you’re looking at. Want to know the weather right now? You won’t have to find the weather app and click on it to get a report. Weather apps for Google Glass will know when you’re looking up at the clouds and provide you with an instant weather report. If you’re unsure of what’s at a particular street address, look at the premises and Google Glass will tell you who’s inside, and possibly even show you the indoor plans along with a 360° panorama view if it’s a business. 2. Google Glass introduces absolutely new way of computing, with a simple, voice-driven user interface that makes a number of tasks much more intuitive. There are some examples of these: 3. To start using Google Glass, you tap the frame of the glasses and you’re taken to the home screen. You don’t see a bunch of icons like on smartphone home screen, just a simple real-life scene you’re looking at. To issue a command, you tap the frame and say “OK Glass”. 4. After you issue the order “OK Glass”, you can instruct the glasses to do something specific by saying something like “take a picture”. That’s it. There’s no fumbling around looking for the camera icon. 5. Same goes with video. With Google Glass, you can record what you see without moving a finger. 6. Now this is what calls serious sharing — actually sharing what you see with your friends . 7. Lost...
