As this semester comes to an end, I am extremely grateful that I could participate in this psychology practicum. Reflecting on the past couple months I am glad I could experience this as I think this class help me learn and explore myself as a person. Back in my first journal I had three objectives that I hoped to achieve throughout this course. I not only believe I achieved them, I also think I have learned some valuable and important lessons in my life. My first objective was to be able to understand psychology theories and apply them in real life, every day situations. Following that, my second objective was for me to assess my future career path. Finally, the last objective was to be able to apply my everyday learning to my personal life, …show more content…
However, after this practicum, I think I am more struggled with what I want to do in my life. Originally, I had my heart set on becoming a child life specialist, wanting to help families cope with difficult problems while trying to bring some joy to a tough situation. I have been second guessing that career choice since I started. I think it must do with the fact that there is only one program in Canada and they only accept about 10 applicants a year. Not only that, I am not sure I want to move away from Windsor for a career, I am ready to move away for school but I want to live here when I am done. The practicum itself hasn’t brought negativity to that career choice it has just been thought on over the course of this semester. I have also thought about becoming a primary teacher, but this experience has made me not want to pursue that career. The classrooms I have been in, the teachers are miserable and don’t seem to like their jobs, the children are uncontrollable, and it’s not as structured as it once was. The hours I have had in the classrooms over this course has turned me away from teaching young children. Maybe I could teach an older age, but JK and SK students are not the right fit for me. Although two career choices of mine have been slowly turning away, there is always a bright side. I am …show more content…
I, like many people, have viewed life and privilege as two separate terms and never coincided them. Privilege can be defined as a special right, advantage, or immunity granted or available to only a person or group of people. And life can be defined as the existence of an individual human being or animal. In the past couple weeks, I have thought a great deal about life. The importance of my life, and how one life can make an impact on so many people. Until recently, I have viewed life as just a thing that happens, however, lately I have reasons to believe that life is more than that it’s a privilege. I look at life as a privilege for many reasons. It is a privilege to wake up every morning, to open my eyes, to be able to walk, to be able to go to school, and to do many of the things I enjoy doing daily. I look at these as a privilege because it is only granted to a group of people, a group of people who are alive and who haven’t lost their lives. Everyday is a gift, no one knows when their life is going to end for whatever reason it may be – a tragic accident, illness, or old age. Life is a privilege, and I never really thought about it much until this semester. It is a choice every day, whether someone is going to live their life to the fullest, but it is a privilege to have that life and option. In my life, I have been privileged as well. I was raised by both parents, I have a roof over my

Len Sperry, MD, PhD, ABPP and Jon Carlson PsyD, EdD, ABPP. and their subject matter are of great interest to me. The subtitle captures the heart of the book’s content and the quintessence of what I want to learn more about, Effecting Change from the First through the Last Session and Beyond. Difficulties Encountered by Accounting Students in Their on-the Job Training

...DIFFICULTIES ENCOUNTERED BY ACCOUNTING STUDENTS IN THEIR ON-THE JOB TRAINING Chapter 1 THE PROBLEM AND ITS SETTINGS Introduction of the Study A student apprenticeship program is an organized course training plan carefully intended to transfer relevant knowledge, skills, and outlooks within a designated period of time from a proficient practitioner in a precise field of study or profession to a novice student who preferably has completed a speculative program study. In some cases, schools call this an apprenticeship program, practicum program, or on the-job training program. They all mean the similar thing and the general purpose is to keep an eye on a common thread. Apprenticeship is similarly a professional relationship between a student (the apprentice) and a skillful professional (the trainer or mentor), in which the student is obliged to diligently conform and learn from the expert professional. On the other hand, the expert professional is pleased to facilitate the learning procedure by exposing the apprentice to a carefully planned program of casual instruction, diverse set of meaningful work experiences, and a fair valuation of learning outcomes through applied tests. They also say that for a comprehensive and effective program of a study, a sound student apprenticeship program is necessary to be able to develop a well-rounded and competent graduate ready to embark on a professional career. The components of a sound student apprenticeship program are preparatory...

The Importance Of Trade Books In The Classroom

...From our textbook analysis, our tests show that our chapter content is at a higher reading level than the intended 4th grade. Because of the high readability, it was important for us to find effective strategies to implement into the curriculum to help the students read and understand the content. We also have been able to find trade books to support their learning and to help them gain a better understanding of the topics that the text chapter addresses. It is important to find trade books and implement strategies because not all students learn the same way. Even within each group (below, at, and above grade level), there is still variation in our students. When we have trade books in the classroom, teachers can use those as supplementary...

Abstract The goal of this practicum was to isolate plasmid DNA from Escherichia coli (E. coli), to identify it, to prove that the plasmid is circular and double-stranded and to give bacterial cells new genetic properties via transformation. An unknown plasmid S was isolated from the bacterial stain Escherichia coli (E. coli). Then its purity was determined by calculating the ratio A260/A280. After that, the unknown plasmid S was identified, followed by the determination of its antibiotic resistance gene. Subsequently, a new culture of E. coli DH5α was transformed by using the isolated plasmids where only the transformed cells survived. Finally, the plasmid-DNA was treated with exonuclease V to prove the circular and double-stranded property of plasmid. The isolated plasmid S was identified to be pCTB2 which was found to be have two forms: (I) relaxed & (II) supercoiled. The ratio A260/A280 gave the value of 1.65 indicating the presence of proteins (RNA/contaminated DNA). Furthermore, the plasmids were partially digested...
