...Practicum Action EDA 577 November 26, 2014 According to state assessments for the past five years the results indicates a minimal academic progress with our ELL students. Our ELL population scores have been detrimental to our annual yearly progress year after year. Not only have our ELL students have shown slow growth academically but also have shown very slow acquisition of the English language. It is fundamentally necessary that a school improvement plan is put place so that the administrator and the collaboration of all stakeholders can implement skills and strategies that will promote the academic achievement of our ELL students. Background: Cesar Chavez Elementary is located in the southwest corner of Arizona in the town of San Luis, Arizona. The community of San Luis a border city with its sister city of San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora. In this community is 97% Spanish speaking. In our school we have ELL classrooms with an average of 33 students per classroom. Our school is a title I school which receives funds from the federal government. ...The practicum report is an integral part of the Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management (BSHRM) of the Dominican College of Tarlac (DCT). It is intended to provide students learning experiences and the application of knowledge and skills in hospitality industry settings. The practicum is a co-operative education which aims to achieve an effective blend of classroom study and off-campus work experience in hospitality-related industry. The goal of the practicum is to prepare the student for competent and responsible practice. A successful practicum is one that achieves that goal. The BSHRM of the Dominican College of Tarlac considers the practicum training to be among the most important professional preparation activities in which BSHRM students participate. Practicum experiences are intended to allow students to synthesize, apply and refine knowledge and skills learned in their academic experiences. In addition, practicum experiences are one of the primary ways in which department faculty members can observe and evaluate the skills of the student. Because of the importance of students’ practicum, the Department requires the student-trainee to prepare a narrative report of his practicum experiences in hospitality industry. This report was based on the student’s training experience at the following establishment: Lewis Grand Hotel during the summer class of year 2015 in Don Juico Avenue Malabanias, Angeles City 2009, Philippines as a prerequisite for the subject...

...Good Afternoon Beverly, Thank you for your comments and kind words. I greatly appreciate them. As I read your comments “…it all comes down to the individual needs of the student and how well the teacher has gotten to know and understand their needs. This is a recurring theme when we discuss goals and strategies for teaching students anything really. I do understand that. I think it is true and important. The more we know what our students need and what they respond best to, the better we can help them.” It reminded of discussion and observation I was blessed to have last GCU class module (Practicum Observation) with a group of special education teachers. This group of teachers, who worked in the Resource Room where I observed students with Learning Disabilities (LDs), would meet at the beginning of each week and discuss the not just the lesson plans for the upcoming week but the progress of each of their students, how they are progressing toward their specific designed academic goals and if they (as a teaching team) needed to modify or change it to help the student attain those goals. The other thing I found interesting and beneficial to my learning experience is that this group of educators also discussed any social or adaptive skill issues any of their students may be having and what strategies they can use to help their students overcome them. For me what was really rewarding about this (being a newbie to the educational field) I was able to watch...

Another dining option, the Garden Café, lies right beside it offering numerous buffet meals for businesspeople on the go or casual guests. Two VIP rooms can be used for private dining or meetings.
