...HISTORY OF PRAN-RFL GROUP The flourishing journey of RFL started back in 1980,with the name of Rangpur Foundry Ltd. The founder of the company was the late Major Gen (retd) Amjad Khan Chowdhury, a leading member of the Ahmaddiya Community in Bangladesh. RFL started its journey with Cast Iron (CI) products in 1980. To eradicate poverty from the society and generate employment for the people of Bangladesh. The initial main objective was to ensure pure water and affordable irrigation instruments for improving rural life. RFL produced cast iron products specially tube well, water pump and other farm implements with a view to ensuring pure drinking water and cheap irrigation facilities for the rural mass. With a vision to serve the common people of Bangladesh with quality necessary products, PRAN has started its operation in 1981 as a process fruits and vegetable in Bangladesh. Then RFL diversified its operation into PVC category in 1996 and in plastic sector in 2003. At present, PRAN-RFL Groups manufactured products have earned extensive acceptability and acclaim both within the country and abroad. Today RFL has its wide ranges of CI products like pumps, tube wells, bearings, gas stoves etc and has achieved the prestige as the largest cast iron foundry and light engineering workshop in Bangladesh. ...EXPORT Pran crossed international boundaries in 1997 by exporting canned pineapple to France. Now, the group exports to 118 countries -- from India to Middle East and Africa, Europe to North America. Presently, one-fourth of Pran's incomes come from exports: the group's sales revenue, both from national and foreign markets, was more than $500 million last financial year. Pran, a top diet processor, has triplicated its export incomes in the last four years to more than $144 million currently. Now the company is exploring new export markets -- from America to Africa and Asia. The group exported goods worth $50.93 million in fiscal 2010-11, which increased to $144.36 million in fiscal 2014-15. Precise calculation says that it is an increase of 183.44 percent growth. Exports to India increased 217 percent to $49.15 million last fiscal year from $15 million four years ago. The company could have expanded its markets in India even more if it were allowed to invest and build a factory there. Though Pran's goods are sold in Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh, half of its receipts come from the northeastern provinces. India, which is the world's second largest consumer market, accounts for one-third of Pran's export receipts. After India, the Gulf and African countries are the biggest buyers of Pran's products.
