...Ethical Analysis 1 Military Ethics and Values No Name Class Instructor May 7, 2015 Ethical Analysis 2 We have learned in a capitalistic market the measurement of success is the maximization of the shareholders wealth and maximized profit. Personal gains and potential wealth are what drives the economy and therefore affects more than just the corporation themselves. Many regulatory guidance’s have been issued in an attempt to better protect competitors and also consistently stimulate the economy. Without these regulations the competition levels between companies would be so stiff that it could possibly entice the market to gradually move away from the capitalistic market that we enjoy today. Although Thomas W. Dunfee states, "Since the goal of the public corporation is to maximize shareholder wealth, management should take any action necessary to achieve this goal so long as no law is violated", is very true for many corporations this line of thinking does not apply to the United States Military. The Armed Forces have long been regarded by some as the largest organization in the United States. The goal of this organization is not profit or personal gain, rather to insure national security and undisputable freedom. Being of a nation founded on principles that promote both infinite dignity and self-worth, military personnel must always stand ready to carry out these principles. Major corporations expect the maximizing of profit...

Electronic Health Records: Transforming Today’s Healthcare The electronic health record and the use of clinical informatics have made great strides in improving the quality of care we provide for the population and also saving the industry millions of dollars. “The EHR has the ability to generate a complete record of a clinical patient encounter - as well as supporting other care-related activities directly or indirectly via interface - including evidence-based decision support, quality management, and outcomes reporting.” (HIMSS, 2011) Nurses play an important role in helping to facilitate the success of the EHR because they are often at the forefront in the documentation process in many healthcare settings. The EHR uses clinical document architecture (CDA) data standards. Using one type of standard and structure allows the EHR to be used in all different settings and the format is intended for use by many different kinds of clinical documents. ...What are some restrictions placed on you? From whom do you receive clearance? 3. First responders should isolate hazards by establishing control zones. There are three types of control zones. List them and give examples. Cite your sources. Difference Between Response to Destruction By Terrorist and Natural Disaster Previous to the National Response network there were various differences on how and when agencies responded to incidents by terrorist groups or natural disasters. Prior to the 11 September 2001 attack on the Pentagon, the plane crash in Pennsylvania, the World Trade Center, and the 2005 Hurricanes Rita and Katrina the Federal Response Plan existed which primarily focused on the Federal roles and responsibilities during an emergency or disaster incident. By using the lessons learned and the response to the hurricane season in 2005 the National Response Plan was replaced by the Federal Response Plan. The United States has dealt with a number of unprecedented disasters and emergencies from small incidents to major catastrophes. The development of the National Response Framework (NRF) lays out the blueprint to deal with any disaster or incident regardless of the size, or scope, of the event whether from potential/actual terrorist attack or natural disaster (NRF, 2008). The National Response Framework “is an effective unified national response that requires and mutually supporting...

...Benefits of Video Games English 223 D 12/5/2012 Intro I have played video games since I was five years old, they have been a huge part of my life. They have made me the person I am today for better or worse, but I believe for the better. They have helped me significantly in my social life. They helped me make friends, and have allowed me to have a common ground with people I would other wise never have anything in common with. It allows me to meet new people and keep in touch with friends in far off places. The challenges that video games have presented me have taught me how to analyze the situation quickly so I can react just as fast. Also I have learned a lot of random facts from video games about the real world. Many of the situations in video games have connections to the real world and thanks to the simulations of real life in video games I know how to react to certain situations or perform certain task appropriately with out actually ever doing them before. I believe video games have many benefits to offer everyone, they have been great to me and I am sure they can help everyone. Video games are deemed as toys with no apparent value but to waste time. This is very untrue, video games can be very beneficial if used properly. They can increase analysis and problem solving skills, they allow people the ability to keep in touch with their friends from all around the world and even make new ones because they have a shared interest, and they can...

...of dried iris flower and 20 grains of pepper, all of them crushed and mixed together. The result is a pungent paste which one Austrian dentist who tried it said made his gums bleed but was a "big improvement" on some toothpaste formulae used as recently as a century ago. The discovery of the formula caused a sensation among Austria's normally sedate dentists when it was disclosed at a dental congress in Vienna. Dr Heinz Neuman, who attended the meeting where the recipe was unveiled, said: "Nobody in the dental profession had any idea that such an advanced toothpaste formula of this antiquity existed." On trying it himself, he said: "I found that it was not unpleasant. It was painful on my gums and made them bleed as well, but that's not a bad thing, and afterwards my mouth felt fresh and clean. I believe that this recipe would have been a big improvement on...

...means a ready defense; "offered in defense or vindication, especially of the divine origin and authority of Christianity." Thus an apology is a defense of what you believe to be true. An apologist is a person who makes the defense. And apologetics is a "systematic argumentative discourse in defense." (All quotes in this paragraph taken from Webster's Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary. The reason I should defend my faith as First Peter 3:15 says, "Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have." When non-Christians ask tough questions about the Christian faith, I will be able to give a solid and logical response. If not, there is an opportunity lost to spread God's Word. Worse, the Christian who has a weak foundation for his faith can be easily shaken by the doubts of non-believers. Though not everything in the Bible can be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt, there is far more proof than most people Christian or non-Christian are aware of. As apologists for my faith, it is my job to line up the available evidence, base my decisions upon it, and present the evidence to others to help give them an intelligent foundation for their decisions. "An intelligent Christian ought to be able to point up the flaws in a non-Christian position and to present facts and arguments which tell in favor of the gospel. If our apologetic prevents us from explaining the gospel to any person, it is an inadequate apologetic" (Pinnock, 1998). As...

...Running Head: TEAM B COURSE PROJECT Team B Course Project Final Draft April 20, 2013 Professor Aimee James DeVry University Abstract Robotic surgery is a described as when a surgeon uses robotic equipment to assist during a surgical procedure. The surgeon manipulates controls which send information to the robotic equipment, telling it what to do. This surgical technology can be used for a wide range of surgical procedures. There are multiple benefits from choosing this type of surgery, but can also cost more than laparoscopic. Robotic surgery has been discussed for over two decades. Over the last decade, it has increased in popularity and applicability. There are many economic concerns over the use of this technology such as the cost versus the applicable use. There are also concerns about the implications the use of this technology will have on the environment, as well as moral and ethical concerns. By providing background information and history of this technology, information on the use of this technology, economical, sociological, and psychological effects and concerns associated with this technology, and information on environmental implications and moral and ethical concerns of this technology, we hope to provide readers a basis to form an educated opinion on the applicability of remote and robotic surgery.
