A). There are three different models of health and healing for the the human body. All three are useful in the nursing practice to assist patients in the healing process. There is physical-body, body-mind-spirit/bio-psycho-social. Of all the three there two I favor, body-mind and body-mind-spirit/bio-psycho-social. They hope for the same outcome, a better patient, but have different style of approaches. Body-mind is one of the oldest health and healing models and originated from ancient healing practice such as Traditional chinese medicine. Nursing that promotes body-mind healing relies on strategies that soothe and relax the mind and body such as yoga, visual imagery, biofeedback and meditation to alleviate pain and stress while preventing infections by boosting immunity (Mind-Body Medicine, 2016). Being an avid yoga participant I know personally the benefits of mind-body health and healing. This model started becoming widely popular in the 1950’s and focuses on a person’s own ability to heal through becoming aware of their own feelings and beliefs (Koerner, J. 2016). This gives the patient the ability to participate in their own healing process. It empowers the patient by putting the ability to control stress, pain, etc through processes without relying on medicine or other health technology and professionals. Body-mind-spirit/bio-psycho-social health and healing model treats the entire patient. Its focus encompassess gentics, behavior and culture when approaching assisting in the healing process ( Biopsychosocial model, N.D). This model is used by many health practitioners due to the acceptance by the patient and the positive results it produces. When treating a patient with this model the illness and severity of the illness is treated by options in medicine, spirituality, religion, technology, and the social dynamics of the patients. By doing this treatment is tailored to treat the individual seeking help. For example a person with a chronic condition with comorbidities such as diabetes and hypertension can be treated with medication which is “bio”, adhering to healthy habits which is “psycho”, and state community assistance which is “social”. By doing this we treat the patient and the disease while give the patient the power to control their care. As a nurse I naturally want to cure my patients in the quickest and most efficient way possible. Then encourage them to use what I taught and continue the healing process on their own in the community. Working in an inner city emergency room it becomes exhausted trying to promote healing models. But when individuals are given options,help and talked to with dignity they become receptive overtime. I believe in treating the whole patient by using the bio-psycho-social health and healing model. This model is suppose to guide the patient to caring for themselves as a whole. My ideal use of this process would be assisting a patient with a medical condition and getting them hemodynamically stable. I believe a person is able to accept new information when the have somatic comfort. At this point helping the patient find remedies that they can control would be ideal. This is ideal because the patient becomes empowered and realizes they are able to make changes for themselves to improve quality of life. Last I would assist in schedule appointments and getting the financial counselor involved. I feel a person needs to feel good physically and mentally in order to be healthy and happy in their community. Through this model the health care provider offer medical stabilization but the patient is held accountable by becoming leader of their own health and wellness. They can follow a diet, take their medications and quit bad habits. Through the help of the community the patient is able to have the funds to maintain their health care in the future. This treats the “whole” patient. My professional presence influences my nursing practice every shift. Koerner is accurate when he states “Nurses walk between two worlds, the material world of the scientist and the creative world of the artist” (Koerner J, 2016). This can be hard on the body and the mind creating exhaustion, compassion fatigue and nurse burnout. It can sometimes be difficult to leave the room of a dying patient to tend the needs of a demanding patient. This is why I try to incorporate mindfulness into my practice. Mindfulness is the state of being attentive to, and aware of, what is taking place in the present. Which is shown to promote psychological well-being (ovid). To me this means don’t work on auto-pilot. To take on each situation with new eyes since each situation presents difficult problems, solutions and pathways. Instead of consuming myself with getting to the outcome I will embrace the process and path to the solution with an open mind and attentive attitude. Mindfulness in practice also allows me, as a nurse, to have an outlet to reduce daily stresses. By stepping off of unit and practicing deep breathing or doing my favorite yoga poses I can decrease my internal stresses. When I decrease my own personal stresses before caring others I am opening my mind and non-judgemental. I will be able to thoroughly listen to my patient without judgement and decide the best way to promote health and healing for my patient and myself. This is important because although I am a nurse I am a human being too and I stress and feel pain just as my patients do.

Guardians make up as much as 40 to 45 percent of the population, and a good thing, because they usually end up doing all the indispensable but thankless jobs everyone else takes for granted.
In any environment, including your work place, you are usually focused on making people happy and facilitating harmonious relationships. You often lend "aid and comfort" by drawing on a combination of tradition, past experience, and the direction of established authority. In your ideal job, people would give of themselves and work toward the good of the group.

B). According to the Keirsey Temperament personality test I am that of Guardian. According to the results Guardians are the cornerstone of society, for they are the temperament given to serving and preserving our most important social intuitions (Personality Test, n.d)). When it comes to my personal relationships, I have a limited amount of friends. I value the friends I have and keep close and am viewed as the “advice giver” according to my friends. The way I interact with my friends differs from my work my interactions with coworkers and patients. With my friends I am very playful and goof around using witty comments and practical jokes. I believe laughter is the key to a healthy relationship. In my marriage I also believe that as well. My relationship with my coworkers is very similar but more structured. There is a time and place for laughter and playful joking. I feel the results describe my traits as a co worker. Although I am very by the book and enjoy following policy and procedures I am also good at thinking outside the box. The results describe a guardian as trustworthy, dependable and adhering to duties and responsibilities. I do agree with that description as well having having fun at the same time. The description of the personality portion is hit and miss. The personality portion described guardians as down to earth, following the rules and cooperating with others. As I do agree with that, there are somethings I disagree with. The results relieved that I am not good at winging it, do not like change, and are meticulous about schedules (Personality Test, n.d)). I do feel as though I am extremely easy going. I embrace change with open arms because changes in health care institutions are meant to improve patient care. I feel as if one of my best qualities as a nurse is improvising or “winging it”. I value my ability to be creative and find and use what works best for each patient. When it comes to my schedule I would have to agree. Planning my day and month is enjoyable to me. The description of the guardian fits me for the most part. This makes me more confident in my chosen path as a nurse. If I were a patient I would want a guardian taking care of me. I would know that things are done right, accurate with diligence. While maintaining amazing work ethic which is important being down to earth and light hearted goes a long way for making a patient comfortable. Believe guardians make excellent nurses because they are attuned to what the patient wants and needs. Every work space is a great mix of personalities. Each has their own traits, habits and demeanor. Learning to work as a team means learning to overcome barriers of opposite personalities. Although there are challenges and barriers they can be minimized by enhanced self-awareness. One barrier that presents itself is decision making. Being a guardian I need all of the facts in front of me. I like to analyse the situation before making a decision. When working beside and Artisan is may cause me anxiety. Artisans, according to Kiersey, “will do whatever works, whatever gives them a quick and effective pay off even it means bending the rules” (kiersey). Rules are in place for a reason and when bent they put patients at risk. Another barrier to encounter is communication. According to Keirsey idealists are usually laid back until their worth ethic is threatened and then they become aggressive and appear irrational (Personality Test, n.d). This can be frustrating when constructive criticism is given or their practice is questions. This is especially frustrating for a guardian who relies on facts and idealists that rely on feelings. To minimize these barriers I can enhance my self awareness. Self awareness is the continuous process of understanding and knowing one’s own identity, beliefs, thoughts, traits, motivations, feeling and behavior and to recognize how they affect others in different ways (Rasheed, 2015).
Self awareness is important and healthy in a work environment and can help individuals overcome barriers while promoting teamwork. As any nurse know communication is the soul of patient safety and quality of care. When encountering different personality traits Using reflection to look back on situations such as miscommunication can promote self awareness by encouraging one’s self to examine our own actions and interactions. Journals are very useful in using reflections. To right to the situation where miscommunication took place and thinking through our feelings at that time. We can also analyse how things were done and if they should have been done differently. If the communicators should have approached each other differently. Reflection is a tool I commonly use in my own practice. Another self awareness tool can be meditation. I use this especially when my decision making differs from another. I close my eyes and think of the solution of the problem at hand. I remind myself that even though I complete tasks differently than my coworkers and that it's ok for them to do what works them. By doing this I can examine how I feel at that very moment, talk myself through and ease my anxiety.

To maintain balance of the physical portion of my whole person I will exercise on a regular basis. I am a runner so will dedicated 3-4 days a week to running for 30-60 minutes.
To maintain balance of the rhythmic portion of my whole person I will balance school, working full time, and taking care of my family.
To maintain mental/emotional portion of my
Whole person I will take will reduce anxiety in my life. I often become anxious and overwhelmed throughout my day thinking of what I need to complete.
To maintain Spiritual Body I will attend service every Wednesday evening since I work every Sunday. Before marriage and children I loved going to church. Now is seems like a chore and not as enjoyable.
Goal 2
To maintain balance of physical portion of my whole person I will make sure to eat 3 meals a day. I often struggle with forgetting to eat throughout the day which causes daytime fatigue.
I will sleep between 7-9 hours a night. I often sleep less than 6 hours a night which leaves me irritable and tired. By sleeping more I will be able to take care of my daily tasks without feeling drained.
I will challenge myself intellectually by actively in the education committee at work. I am a member and I need to master all equipment used in our Emergency Department before teaching others.
I will reflect on situations throughout my day that cause internal conflict.
Achieving goal 1
I till set my alarm to way up early on the days I choose to run. I will make sure I have my running clothes and shoes put together and ready put on.
I will utilize my agenda to organize my work, school, and life schedule. I will abstain from picking up overtime at work. I am used to working 60 hours a week but now with school i have to limit myself to my schedules hours.
I will utilize my monthly yoga membership and go 2 times a week. Yoga helps me with my anxiety. It allows my to release bad energy.
I will add wednesday church service into my agenda and make it a habit in my weekly activities.
Achieving goal 2
I have on every Sunday afternoon. I will dedicate that day to meal prepping and putting snacks together in little ziplock bags. Enough for two snacks a day. I will also write keep a food journal to track my success.
I will develope
A night time regimen and practice good sleep hygiene. I will attempt to perform regimen at the same time every night and go to bed early enough.
I will familiarize myself with emergency room equipment and master one piece of equipment per week and teach my assigned team members proper use.
I will buy a journal specific to self reflection and write down one thing per day I can reflect on. I am usually so busy that I don’t have time to think of how I could have done things differently.
