...Fig 1: Comparison of Prices of Daily Essential Commodity Fig 1: Comparison of Prices of Daily Essential Commodity Nepal’s economic future inevitably depends upon the growth of its agricultural sector. Out of 26.4 million populations, nearly 80% of population is employed directly or indirectly in this field. Despite such a large population working in this field there has been food deficit which resulted into turning out Nepal a net importer from exporter, a big irony for a country like Nepal. We should put all our efforts to increase its supply by enhancing the productivity of the essential goods thus lowering our dependency on imports which accounts to 70% of our imports. Besides increasing the supply it’s equally important to try to bring the stability in its market price. Citizens have been forced to pay higher price either in the name of low supply, increase of price in our neighboring country, or due to the cartelling and price collusion by few suppliers. Upward trend of price rise of these daily essential goods, has led several economists to apply their theories attempting to explain the pricing behavior in essential goods market. As shown in figure above we can see the price comparison of present market value with market price a month ago. Different facts have been put forward by different groups showing their own reason and limitations behind the rise of price. * Commodities prices are controlled by whole sellers and big supplier oligopolist: There is a widespread...

...Adam 15 September 2014 The Price of College is on the Rise On the morning of Wednesday March 6th, 2013 I hurriedly got ready for the ACT after slightly sleeping in. The panic from sleeping in on top of all the stress and worry for my future made me on edge for the most important day thus far in my young adult life. All of my hard work for the past 3 years was rest assured on the next 4 hours, I had to get a high score on the test there is no other way. Rick Perlstein, the author of “What’s the Matter with College” argues the negative changes in college since the 1960s. He disputes that the college experience is not as radical and political as previously. He claims that students are overly concerned with money, which amplifies the fact of students being overscheduled to the point they don’t explore who they are. Indeed, young adults are too connected to their parents through technology and evolving social media to explore anything new. In other words I agree with Perlstein that college is now less of an experience, I believe this is caused by the sky rocketing cost of attendance and the focus on the economy/debt. With the enormous rise of college tuition students have been fighting the inevitable reality of debt. The College Board articulates that the average tuition at a four-year college has increased by 27 percent beyond the rate of inflation over the five years from the 2008-09 academic year to 2013-14. Even after raising cost for inflation the average cost has tripled...

...Why Did Global Food Prices Rise? There are many economic factors that lead to the increase in food prices globally. The case explains exactly “Why Did Global Food Prices Rise?” and how the economic factors have impacted countries and world’s lack of food. The tariffs and subsidies give rise to the increasing global food prices. This case also talks abut how the government policies may be an advantage for some domestic producers and the disadvantage to others. The ones who benefit from the government policies to promote production of ethanol are obviously the ones producing ethanol because they are looking for more options to be able to make ethanol. The different types of raw materials that can be produced into a substitute for gas, can affect the price of all goods. The ones who benefit to place tariff barriers on imports of sugar cane are the countries that have a higher production of raw material because they will benefit from all of the production. For example: corn and soybeans are mainly used as tangible means for biofuel. The more demand for ethanol and biofuels, the more it will increase our prices for foods. Sugar cane can also be used for biofuels, however due to the tariff barriers the price of sugar cane has increased and it can no longer compete with the subsidized corn and soy beans. The Poor are suffering worldwide as a result of these policies. Unfortunately some of them are unable to afford food. Developed countries are usually giving the subsidies...

...Price of a cup of tea to rise as demand soars Student: Elie Gharib Student Number: 16443365 Lecturer: Dr. Neil Perry Economics 200425 Due Date: 25th October 2013. Drinking tea is much more than a habit but a cultural tradition that dates back for centuries. Second only to water, tea is the most consumed drink in the world. People enjoy a cup of tea especially in the winter season due to the many nutritional benefits it offers Tea is consumed by drying the plants’ leaves and boiling it in water. This is then drunk as black, green or white with milk. Demand for tea is increasing every year; in the last decade, global demand for tea has increased by 40% in comparison to coffee which has only increased by 7% (Aoyama & Akiyama, 2013). The global market for tea is very aggressive especially in countries where the demand is huge; the United Kingdom for instance is considered to be one of the biggest importers of tea as its population consumes around 165 million cups a day (UK Tea Council). This statistic for the UK population might change as prices of a cup of tea (at the retail level) is increasing due to many factors (Price of a cup of Tea to rise as demand soars, 2011). Supply and demand for a product play a major role in indicating the price; however, there are other determinants that also contribute towards the pricing of a product (Nellis & Parker, 2006). As a result the UK market will witness fluctuating...

...Apartment • Apartment: a relatively self-contained housing unit in a building which is often rented out to one person or a family, or two or more people sharing a lease in a partnership, for their exclusive use. Sometimes called a flat or digs (slang). Some locales have legal definitions of what constitutes an apartment. In some locations, "apartment" denotes a building that was built specifically for such units, whereas "flat" denotes a unit in a building that had been originally built as a single-family house, but later on subdivided into some multi-unit house type.[5] • Apartment building, Block of flats: a multi-unit dwelling made up of several (generally four or more) apartments. Contrast this with the two-family house and the three-family dwelling. An apartment (in US English) or flat (in British English and often associated with or miscontrued as social housing) is a self-contained housing unit (a type of residential real estate) that occupies only part of a building. Such a building may be called an apartment building, especially if it consists of many apartments for rent. Apartments may be owned by an owner/occupier or rented by tenants (two types of housing tenure). The term apartment is favored in North America, whereas the term flat is commonly, but not exclusively, used in the United Kingdom, Hong Kong and most Commonwealth countries. In Malaysian English, flat often denotes a housing block of lesser quality meant for lower-income groups, while apartment...

...From: Vampire_king1902 To: Thinking Group 17h45’ 09/21/2014 TẠI SAO GIÁ LƯƠNG THỰC TOÀN CẦU TĂNG ĐIỂM?

...Growing Internet Use in China Reflects Changing Society Internet Use Explodes in China Internet use in China is exploding. According to Kai-Fu Lee, President of Google, China, the growth of the Internet is 40 to 50 percent in the last two years. Today, the number of Chinese using the Internet is greater than the number of Internet users in the United States, and Kai-Fu Lee anticipates that by the end of the year, about a quarter of China’s 1.3 billion people will be online. However, Chinese Internet users tend to be much younger than their American counterparts. In China, the average user is 25 years old as compared to 45 years old in the United States. Some experts anticipated that greater access to information could prompt the Chinese to question their government, but the growing Internet usage seems to have done just the opposite. Many Chinese are now questioning what they perceive to be mistakes and representations by the Western press about events in China. After reports by the Western press about events in Tibet and the Olympic torch relay protests for example, many Chinese were angry and felt that their government was being unfairly criticized. Some actually used the Internet to coordinate anti-Western, pro-China demonstrations. Most Chinese people appear to believe that the market reforms implemented in China have been very successful. They see their economy getting stronger, and more opportunities. Melinda Yu, president of the Foreign Correspondents...

...ASKING USEFUL QUESTIONS: GOALS, ENGAGEMENT, AND DIFFERENTIATION IN TECHNOLOGY-ENHANCED LANGUAGE LEARNING by Joy Egbert Washington State University jegbert @ wsu.edu In his popular 1997 article, Steve Ehrmann encouraged us to ask useful questions about technology for education (Ehrmann, 1997). In the years since Ehrmann asked his questions, increased pressures from legislative bodies, educational stakeholders, and business have driven an ever-increasing influx of technology into schools; however, this is not necessarily the evil that it has been portrayed as in various media. Within classrooms the availability of technology is offering us as language teachers the opportunity to usefully question what we do and why. Although technology itself is incapable of action or thought, its presence in our classrooms and schools is helping to facilitate questions about the goals of language classrooms, conceptions of teaching and learning, and our ability to address student needs. If we ask good questions and apply the answers to use technology in effective ways, resultant changes in our thinking and our pedagogy can lead to greater student achievement This paper first asks questions about and discusses language classroom goals. It then reflects on two related, essential strategies for language teaching and learning that can help us meet these goals: engagement and differentiation. Finally, the paper provides examples of how technology can be used to engage and differentiate for our learners...

...Copper vs. Fiber They are two major types of cables used in networking, copper and fiber. Each cable are used in different application regarding to its usage. They also have different strengths cause of the material they are made of. Copper is the most common out of the two cables. Not as powerful as Fiber, but are ideal for buildings up to 100m. Fiber is mostly used for longer distances that copper can’t reach. For example, Fiber is ideal for high-rise buildings. Both cables do have their weakness. Copper can contract electrical current cause’s disruption between two devices and loses its signal over 100m in length. Fiber has a glass core. Bending the fiber to much will break the glass and renders the fiber useless. I good example for using each cable in a real world situation would be a high-rise building. Take the empire state building, you couldn’t possibly use copper wires to connect to each switch from each floor to the main hub. The signal will fade on the higher levels of the building. And you wouldn’t want to use fiber to connect from a switch to each room or outlet. Too many cramped spaces and you would not want to bend the fiber too much for the signal to break. So, you can use the fiber to connect from the main hub of the building to each switch on every level and you wouldn’t bend the fiber to its breaking point. Copper can be used to connect the rooms to the switch and you wouldn’t have to worry about having to break a piece of glass to go around or...

Therefore, the overall atmosphere of a good exhibition for the Museum and exhibits should be mutually harmonious. In the present society, the Art Museum has become the representative of the country or city,It is the performance of the historical heritage of a country or city, the best representatives of the cultural enrichment. The location of the Grand Rapids museum is a very smart place, situated in the center of the city downtown, next to Central Park, and convenient transportation. Every day there are vehicles coming and going through here, where most places, there are many people gathered in the park, this park as an oasis in the high-rise buildings into the same role, while the art museum is a Inn next to the oasis. The park and the art Museum become a financial landscape. External This museum’s architectural style is kind of modern building and irregular geometry shape. Three pillars support the top brushing of the museum at the front of the door, pick the top is very long, a good depth of space, people's visual concentration and the door. These three pillars unlike normal columns, they are very thin, and wanted to three walls. The use of such pillars of the facade of the museum is simple atmospheric.
