The P.R.I.C.E of Success
What is the P.R.I.C.E of success and how does one these elements in our day to day lives? How does this little acronym have so much to do with our success not only as a student but in our future as an asset to society?
So what is P.R.I.C.E, well it is Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Caring, and Engagement. The definitions help us to find the true meaning of the words and how we can interpret how one would use these terms in everyday life. Professionalism is the skill, good judgment, and polite behavior that is expected from a person who is trained to do a job well (Merriam-Webster, n.d. Web). Respect is a feeling or understanding that something should be treated in an appropriate way (Merriam-Webster, n.d. Web). Integrity is the quality of being honest and fair (Merriam-Webster, n.d. Web). Caring is an effort made to keep someone safe or healthy (Merriam-Webster, n.d. Web). Engagement is a promise to meet or be present at a particular place and time (Merriam-Webster, n.d. Web).
So how does one use these in everyday life? Well for myself I use this model in my professional and personal life. First is professionalism I try to show this at work with my patients. I work in the health care industry and I feel if you show your patients a form of confidence and appropriate communication skill they with have more assurance in my ability to help them and their health care needs. Second is respect, I do feel that respect is something I use at work often, for this is a big part of being a team player. I show respect to my co-workers by listening to their needs and showing them I value their thoughts. Third, Integrity which is something I feel everyone should be a model of to make the world a better place. I try to instill in my children to fair and honest and always follow the rules no matter how hard it maybe with bad influences in life.
