It firstly aims at discussing findings regarding the testtaking strategies candidates claim to use when responding to the KPG reading tasks and, secondly, at presenting the research instrument used for such an investigation. The research instrument, which is a closedresponse questionnaire, has been designed at the RCEL and administered to candidates who sat for the KPG examination at the November 2008 administration. Keda Industrial Co. Ltd (600986: Shanghai Stock Exchange), a manufacturer of large scale machinery in China, however, was one of the few that successfully deployed its ERP solution in 2005. In this case study, we document the ERP initiative of Keda from its conception to its deployment, study the factors that contributed to its success, and summarize Keda’s practices that substantiated the identified success factors. Despite recent research interest, desktop search is under-explored compared to other search domains such as the web, semi-structured data, or flat text. Even with the availability of several new desktop search tools, users are more successful finding information through browsing their personal collections and subsequently show preference for this approach. Problems with existing desktop search tools include performance issues, an overreliance on good query formulation, and a failure to fit within the user’s work flow or the user’s mental model. As the available storage for desktop collections becomes cheaper and more plentiful and new media types continue to appear, the size and types of items stored in personal collections is growing rapidly.
