“Where I am now?” is quite the open statement to be incurred to anybody entitling finishing off their studies, resonating to the fact that this particular period of time concludes a person’s pursuit in their study path and coherently ensues the commence of their journey to the professional workforce. Certainly
It is attributed with the amount of knowledge and skill that has been acquired during this study period, which will help benefit in attesting the ability of work done within the respected field practiced.

My sole purpose of acquiring this degree is to be a Multimedia Designer. A Multimedia Designer’s task is to gestate, organize and design a specific multimedia project and compile it to something fruitful. This includes presentations, websites, animations, multi-faceted print and any other interactive media solutions to meet public information requirements and curriculum, accomplishing associated responsibilities assigned.

Reflecting on my understanding with this degree, I do apprehend that I am mirroring my subjective peregrination into the sector of interactive media.
The reason I’ve chosen multimedia as a profession is because I’ve always been involved in creative endeavors whether it’s music, poetry, writing or art .
Although this was always entitled throughout my life, the pristine eye-opener for multimedia was back in 2008 when I worked as a Guest Host in the Middle East Film Festival, there I was in the office at one instance of time where I was gathering some papers, I came across two individuals with mac computers showcasing a design for the festival. It was some sort of brochure with an intricate detail to it and dazzling color coordination and layout, which really took me by surprise and a jolt of curiosity, was apprehended to me on how it was made and what line of work is pursued to produce such a finesse of articulation. I kindly asked and they responded as being multimedia designers.
This gave me the initiative to pursue such a profession, so I have researched more and more to collect as much information needed to fulfill my interest.
During the course of my studies I have generated the full knowledge needed to obtain such a profession although needless to say some skills are prone to be polished, in order to benefit more in my professional line of work .
In an era where technology is king now, the rapid burst of new design implications; technologies and ideas throughout the world submerged a colossal effect on the industry at large.
As a Multimedia Designer I am primarily skilled in front end development where the basis of my skill is into the design phase of any project and the initial creative idea and coordination put in effect.
This correlates the creative direction I am mostly capable of which integrates the programs and programing languages that I currently comprehend.
As of date the programs that I’m familiar with are :

I mainly use After Effects to compose elaborate visual effects and digital motion graphics mostly in heavily induced graphic effects that are prompted in video compilations and footages.
Being the number one solution for desktop publishing I use Adobe InDesign for creating requested brochures, newspaper layouts, posters, magazines and books abiding with all design principles of layout and grid systems to ensure maximum organization and clean representation.
For photo manipulation and editing and creating images from scratch I use Adobe Photoshop this programs is very vital and useful for a multimedia designer and can be integrated with the rest of the of Adobe Creative Suite.
For Programing I use the very powerful design tool known as Adobe Dreamweaver to code in websites using html, php,css,javascript,jquery and other programing languages that work hand in hand when creating a website .
For Video Editing my software of choice has to be Adobe Premiere it’s very easy to use and very reliable to create interesting footage and integrates very well with Adobe After Effects varying with different formats to be produced when footage is rendered and exported abiding with the resolution and layout.
For Flash Animations,Websites,Mini games and presentations I use Adobe Flash it is a very powerful tool as well and easy to handle once you’ve got the hang of it .
For Vector based projects I use Adobe Illustrator mainly used in graphic design and to be integrated very well when used in creating vector based material, projects can be circulated within the adobe creative suite which makes it very helpful when importing, for example if I was to compose a simple animation in flash I shall import my .ai file (which is a still image) there to animate.
I use Ableton Live to create score music, background music, instrumentals and to compose and edit music in general, it has the simple capability of integrating video as well so it helps a lot when trying to create music for a video footage I have made.
I generally use Microsoft Office’s Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Word: This word-processing tool is used to create my documents.
Excel: This electronic spreadsheet program is used to store, manipulate and organize my data.
PowerPoint: PowerPoint which I take pride in being highly skilled at is used to create my presentations.

I mainly use Celtx for script writing and storyboarding ,full character description and audiovisuals it functions pretty well and has a very easy to use mechanism n layout to work on .

My skill set is derived in my ability to come with ideas and try to manipulate them and out them in action to be literal in some form of way or another, moreover a sense of spontaneity is also sprinkled within my reach of brainstorming or in the development of a brilliant idea annotated with any circumstance at hand.
This also works simultaneously in giving a colorful explanation of my idea and thought process which is very helpful specifically in the field when dealing with the initial phases of a project or coming up with the whole infrastructure of the project evidently it requires a tangible imagination and a good sense of communication.
I’m a good listener and very inquisitive in my manner not to embellish my demeanor but I’ve always been on a strive to know more about anything that could benefit me and my knowledge whether is attaining this knowledge by listening, reading, writing analyzing or even self reflecting and learning from my previous mistakes and trying to emulate a better outcome for future efforts.
Working under pressure with viable results is one of my strong points aswell whether it’s a slightly pressurized environment or not.

Languages I speak
I’m bilingual in English and Arabic both remarkably fluent in speaking and writing this will help me immensely within the Middle East region since the mother tongue is Arabic .I’m also familiar with all vernaculars and accents both in Arabic and English this will assist me in distinguishing speech during conversations and any form of communication availed.

Learning from modules and everyday life experience has developed my strengths immensely. Studying at the (SAE Institute in Dubai) has endorsed me to generate and cultivate ideas throughout the respected modules that has been instructed during the course of the Degree. I recall studying a course of Communication during my first year which really helped in the improvement of my communication skills, where we’ve been instructed to work in groups and produce a liable presentation towards it’s completion, Which I’ve thankfully scored a fulfilling mark in. This motivated me to continue the progression and gave me the ascendancy to strive in always bringing up excellent presentations to the audience carefully consolidated in a seamless manner and properly conducted when showcased.
In one of the modules we had to redesign an existing product and make it more attainable and marketed by redefining it’s existing components this helped me with understanding the pure vision of product design. I’ve chosen an iPod shuffle to redesign and introduced a radio transmitter to it with a small screen to notify the channels selected the quick witted idea raised me marks and the design was clean and nifty.

Ecological/Environmental:
-I live in Abu Dhabi and Abu Dhabi is slowly but surely becoming a huge hub for multimedia services one of the top multimedia companies here is twofour54 it has many partnership with global multimedia entities such as National Geographic,CNN and Cartoon Network to name a few they also provide training through a branch they’ve created called “Tadreeb “ which means training in Arabic this shall help me if I wish to intern there or even pursue any of their training facilities .

Copyright Matters:
- Authorization of my work is protected and prohibited for others to use if a copyright is issued, this will protect my work and ensure it’s legibility from it being plagiarized and used by others.
- During contract procedures an agreement is to be secured between the respected client and me so I could dispense my rights in my original work.

Business Stationary:
- If I wish to open up my own office due to the law of mandatory local partnership I can open up my office in the free-zone where I own full ownership of the company there’s a variety of consultants and agencies the supply the service of doing everything for you .

Health & Safety:
- Diagnosed with a rare heart condition (Brugada Syndrome) I am to make sure I’m always monitored for regular checkups with my designated doctor in assurance of everything is in optimum condition in order not to face any casualties at work.

- Since Multimedia is mostly worked on indoors even with the Middle East’s hot climate during the summer season it doesn’t bring any halts or issues, Multimedia is obedient with advertising and marketing products so it is preluded all year round with high demands during holiday season and sale seasons.

- If I wish to open up my own business it is vital for me to issue a comprehensive business plan to obtain a hefty some of capital such as applying for a bank loan which is very crucial for the prohibitive set up costs.

- It is always beneficial for me to be fully aware of covering all the areas of design since it is always interpreted in Multimedia Firms that they offer the full package to potential clients

Lifestyle Trends:
- Multimedia and Web Design is obstructed heavily upon embryonic lifestyle trends oppose to the psychology of people, where it could be a real trendsetter. It’s obligatory for me to be up to date with the industry ,as this will be important in sustaining an assertive and contemporary threshold.
- Many things can be outdated in the creative slogan such as buzzwords and trends therefore it is needed to insure a hip and notable distinction when coming with initial ideas being manipulated.
- A distinctive and unique style is also very important to insure a clientele and customer loyalty with my designs and work.

Demographics:
- Production of work is elongated across all age groups depending on the demographics of the project at hand ,so when a client or my employer for example to design a brochure for a kids fun fair obviously the demographic is targeted to the younger generation of kids and perhaps a range from 5-12 it all depends on the clientele vision
- This may involve a younger clientele with small start up businesses which are looking to grow and are perhaps more likely to allow a little more creative freedom for whoever produces the identity and promotional material.
Brand/Company:
- Branding is very much a central element; once my work is known, my logo and work in retrospect will market itself by itself it will show people what I’m capable of and how good I am on what I do .
- Large volumes of work is predestined when recommendations and past body of work is emphasized ,creating such an elaborate and extensive body of work is good publicity and promotion .

Consumer Buying Patterns/Fashion:
- On going trends will always be the key element in the alteration of the kind of work necessitated by consumers.
- To direct the client on what is applicable, It is up to me as a designer to be on top of what's in style at the time.

Advertising/Publicity:
- An online presence is always fundamental so sooner or later I am bound to make my own website where I shall put my credentials and portfolio in this public domain, it will help draw attention to multimedia designers and enthusiasts and promote my work.
- I have to be very careful not to offend any one or provoke any opposition with my work, this includes religiously or ethnically compiled groups research has be instilled on the project background.
- Multimedia has the potential to give a shock effect and persuasion to the general public so consideration of what has to be produced must be implied.

Technological Factors:

Competing Technology:

- As a fresh undergraduate starting up I might find myself facing competition from more established colleges and Multimedia Designers that are more experienced and skilled than me.

- I shall be contingent on the technology that I decide to keep myself such as programs that I use, since the industry standard is the Adobe Package I shouldn’t have any issue other than to update my existing creative suite if any new releases are announced.

Associated/Dependent technologies:
- The design industry standard is primarily Apple software and hardware (computers) and they do cost quite a fortune, I already have an Apple Mac Book Pro so I have to take great care of it and update the ram for better memory functionality when using the software so I do not face lagging and any slow maneuvers of technicalities when rendering or working with multiple programs simultaneously, An ipad and small projector might come in very handy while showcasing my presentations it will add an eloquent and very savvy outlook on my behalf and since it’s very durable it can fit right in my briefcase where ever I go for meetings or showcases when giving out pitches and brainstormed ready ideas .
- Sustaining and maintaining my image to potential clients and future employers is also very important it can be very much orchestrated by the modernistic approach with new advances in brand new products and software.

Replacement & Back Up:
- It is important to always back up the work I do whether on a hard drive /DVD or online this will ensure the assurance of not having any of data lost and always having a backup.

Maturity of technology:
- 3 to 5 years is approximately the life expectancy of furthermost technology so it will be to my benefit to always stay in that range of model year of the equipment I use to stay relevant so that replacement is not put as an issue for the future in the short term.
Information and Communication:
- With the access of computers primarily anywhere it is fairly easy to connect with people via email.
- Businesses, Clients and contacts are kept in touch by the utilization of social networking Social networking.

Licensing/Patents:
- Graphics such as logos can be trademarked evidently so it is always crucial for me to check and investigate whether it has not been copied and not been plagiarized in any way prior of it being conveyed.
- Packaging, Customized Typeface, layout, color and shape are all in the array of things being trademarked. - Add ons, cases and covers are all kinds of registered designs as well .- Any material I have create is subjected to copyright by carefuly detailing is creation .
- 20 years is the life expectancy of Patents
- Reluctantly for every 10 years a trademark and logo has to be renewed.
- 25 years is the duration of Design right with a 5 year interval for renewing every time.
- In the case of any fatality a copyright can last a total of 70 years after the fatality.
Intellectual Property Issues:
- If I was to establish my own office I shall go head with an intellectual property office to sort that matter.

My Mission statement is to be a multimedia designer who is highly skilled in all fields of multimedia and hopefully start up my own multimedia firm in my home country “Sudan”.
My goal is to better in programing so I could attain full multimedia control of my skills and hopefully after some work experience I am willing to pursue masters in Communication Design. The masters in Communication Design will help immensely in obtaining more knowledge and assist me for better future job prospects.
