Professional Development Plan
During our life we have different types of relationships, for example with a coworker, a friend, family members or even an employee. People can influence and change the way that we see the things. Those persons are the ones that inspired and motivated those persons can be called leaders. At every moment we are surrounded by people that we call leaders, like in the government, your manager at the store where you work or even someone in your house (a mother, a brother for example). But what is a leader? What are the characteristics to be a great leader? Do we need a leader?
The leader is that person who is capable of influencing others. A leader is a person inside a group. A leader can be the chief of the group and not function as a leader or the contrary; he can be the leader and also function as the chief. The leader represents for the rest of the group an authentic example of dedication, enthusiasm and courage. According to MCmean, Bill (2009) there are 5 characteristics to be a great leader “The first one be flexible, being able to communicate, patience, combination of humility and being responsible.’’ With these characteristics we can know if someone can be a great leader.
My group is compose of 5 people, this mean that the group reunite 5 different personalities with a lot of desires to be the leader. In this case I’m the leader of the group and I’m going to observe each and every one of my colleagues. Everyone have different ways of being and think. Because we are all different, for some of us a characteristic can be negative and for others may be considered these characteristic a positive one.
Two of my colleagues have the characteristic of being dominant, they like to take control of other people, do many things at the same time. Being a dominant person can demonstrate having a strong personality. In the group having two members with the same characteristic may cause some problems. In the other side one of them have the characteristic of being cautious. He like to solve problems, is very critical and very serious. Those characteristics can be attached and describe a born leader. The last one represent a very social and spontaneous person, this mean that she is interactive just like me.
Is always good that one of your colleagues have your same personality because with this person you can compare yourself. Know I have to think how I’m going to lead this group. What direction do I have to take and how I’m going to be a great leader. First I have to know and understand what motivate them because I can’t assume what people want. Then when I understand what motivates them we are going to set some goals. With that in mind we can achieve great activities and complete tasks. As a leader I’m going to delegate and assigned work to everyone (the same amount of work), this is to reduce some of the work for everyone, doing this my colleagues are going to feel more comfortable, more relax, motivated, important and part of the group. Is important to keep everyone in the same page because groups can quickly dissolve from lack of activity and communication.
Vince Lombardi (1943) ‘’The leader can never close the gap between himself and the group. If he does, he is no longer what he must be. He must walk a tightrope between the consent he must wind and the control he must exert.’’
As a leader I’m very responsible, well-oriented, devoted and very visionary. I want my colleagues to follow my example. A true leader will want to make people stand on their own so they can do a excellent job, a true leader does not want followers and must be a living example of his teachings.

...Professional Development Plan Edwin Julio LDR/531 April 11, 2016 Professor Scott Bruner Professional Development Plan This paper will be evaluating the results from the DISC assessment that each team member in Learning Team A completed. This learning team has five members including myself as the manager. The goal will be to view the results and figure out how each team member will work separately as well as within a group setting. The benefit of the assessment is to have each team member assess their skills, strengths, areas needing improvement, and the resources needed to help them reach their goals. As stated, Learning Team A took the DISC assessment, and the findings are as follows: Brian was considered Dominate, KinyaMantesha was assessed to be cautious, and Sarah, Shadonta and Evita was evaluated to be interactive. Evita will be taking the lead as manager of the group and will try to best describe how the learning team can collaborate as a team to complete the learning team projects moving forward. Each individual can thrive separately and get things done, but the DISC assessment was completed to see how each person could thrive within a team setting. Brian was the only one in the learning team that was considered dominant. Brian can best be described as a delegator, he would be best suited as the teacher, and he would rather lead than follow. He is direct, and very decisive. This individual will be great in a team setting since he is also someone that is a...

Knowing the strengths, weaknesses and needs of each individual with make for a more productive outcome of each task, and create synergy. In order to assess all of these factors, it is good to use a DISC Assessment. DISC stands for Dominant, Interactive, Steady, and Cautious. These are the four main styles of leaders. Team B is made up of three of the four DISC styles; Interactive, Dominant, and Cautious. According to the DISC Assessment, Interactive style people are friendly and thrive on admiration, acknowledgment and compliments. They are relationship oriented rather than task oriented and they are great influencers. They tend to use their people skills to build alliances to accomplish goals (Alessandra, P.7). Strengths of the Interactive person are seen in their communication, participation and finding the good in things. Their weaknesses are follow through and lack of objectivity. Interactive people need recognition, acceptance, and they need to talk (Outside the Box, 2014). Dominant Style people are driven by the need to control and the need to achieve. They like to take on challenges and are fast paced and goal oriented. A dominant Style person can work quickly and Impressively by themselves, and are annoyed with delay (Alessandra, P. 7)...

There are also many things to remember once the position of teaching has been reached. Having a professional development plan is something to keep in mind when beginning and going through the teaching experience. By creating this professional development plan I will be able to apply what I have learned in this class to my professional career. Here I will discuss my professional development plans to ensure that all students have a clear understanding that having an education is important and can lead to much success in their future. When many hear professional development plan, they automatically think anything that goes along with work. They will never think that their opinion or thought has anything to do with their professional development plan. Only the individual can assess their own professional development plan and know what areas they need improvement on. Professional development plans can also be tweaked a little bit when assessing it and seeing what areas needs improvement on. In the next five years I plan on completing my Associates degree in elementary education and possibly pursuing my Bachelors. I also plan to continue to work in the position that I currently hold if not assistant, then lead teacher. Each week the team could be assigned a weekly project. This could be a difficult chore in the beginning since no one in familiar with each other. Each person has their own personality and ways to do projects, which could be very different from their other teammates. My objective is to complete a professional development plan that will help us work as a team and work towards a common goal. An individual or a team uses a professional development plan so that they have set goals and strategies to achieve the same goal at the end of the period (Multiprofessional Faculty Development, 2012). To help me develop this plan each team member has been asked to take the DISC Assessment. DISC is a personal assessment used to determine behavior types, and how to interpret the behavior (DiSC Profile, n.d.). The DISC assessment has four styles it uses as a determination. They are Cautious (C Style), dominance (D Style), interactive (I Style) and steadiness (S Style). A cautious person is detail orientated, a slow worker and has very high expectations for themselves. ...Professional Development Plan Gina York AED/201 December 16, 2012 Carla Gull Professional Development Plan A new school year begins and new teachers take their places at the head of the class and write their names on the board and introduce themselves. This day has been a culmination of many challenges faced head on. Many short and long term goals planned and accomplished. All of which has brought them here to this day. Full of excitement, hope, anxiousness, fear and doubt and expecting to feel all of those emotions and probably some more. Feelings of excitement for finally fulfilling a lifelong dream. Anxious and wondering if they made the right choice but most of all, will they be able to find that spark that will inspire their students. Short-Term Goals Personally, I have always found it to be helpful to have a plan or a set of goals for everything that I have wanted or tried to accomplish. It has been said that I am a bit on the obsessive and compulsive side of organization. I also find it difficult to go through a day without creating some sort of list. Whether it is a to-do list or a list of what I need to pick up as I dash in and out of the grocery store on the way home. I feel quite confident that I can expect that I will approach teaching the same way. As a teacher having a goal to reach for would be especially important. Before I can set my five year goal, I need to decide exactly what it is that I want to accomplish in five years. A person can say they...
