Professional Development Plan
I have been a Registered Nurse since 2001. I started in school in 1992 for Medical Secretarial Degree. I then returned back to school to obtain my Medical Assisting Degree in 1993. After completing that degree, I got a job in a medical office, got married in 1995 and then started working in the hospital. It was at that time I decided to return back to school to become a Registered Nurse. It was so rewarding to see how the nurses helped the patient’s and the respect they received that it made me want to be a nurse.
Since I have been a nurse, I have worked in the Cardiac unit, a float RN which I learned so much in all the different areas of nursing, Short term specialty Hospital which I learned about tracheostomies and wound care and then finally home health. Since being in home health, I have been a field nurse, Director of Clinical Services and a Director of Operations. I obtained my CPR certification, ICD-9 certification and OASIS certification.
Strengths and Weaknesses
First strength I have is my learning agility. I am a very quick learner and can pick up assignments quickly and learn computer programs quickly. Second strength, I can adjust myself to changes and new situations. When a company decides to change leaders or policies I adapt and embrace the situation. Third strength, I am a team player. Whatever needs to be done I go above and beyond to make sure that it gets completed.
First weakness, I am not a good public speaker, but I have run successful meetings and found tools to help to feel more comfortable when addressing a crowd. Second weakness, I have trouble delegating work. It is very difficult to hand off a task to someone else to complete when the responsibility will fall on me if not

Knowing the strengths, weaknesses and needs of each individual with make for a more productive outcome of each task, and create synergy.
