Professional Identity and Stewardship: Peer Review
A professional identity is a method of qualities, and values one has about self in relationship to the professional role, that is fundamental for professional culture assimilation (Slay & Smith, 2011). In this paper, there will be a summary of an interview conducted with a peer named Ms. S, which provide an understanding from her responses to the four questions related to her particular opinions concerning, professional identity and stewardship. Also, it will give a detail about her role, as a registered nurse (RN), how she defines leadership and professional, and as well as how that converts into and influences her nursing career and practice.

S to define professionalism. She defined professionalism as to comply with personal guidelines and values as well the rules of the work setting. She then added that professionalism is illustrated as for how nurses understand their job and it also acts as a guide for nurses to follow to provide the best care and patient safety. Furthermore, she stated that the key components that define professionalism in nursing practice include attitudes, appearances, and willingness to help others. Next, the way her professional responsibility influence her work is by earning respect from her coworkers. Also by acting as a professional and abiding by the standard values of her organizations, she gains trust from her leaders. She believes she leads by example and others look up to her for …show more content…
S answered that it is necessary for leaders to apply professional advocacy and authenticity as well as power and influence when engaging with fellow workers because she assumes that when a leader illustrates these qualities, they are more prone to gain respect and compliance among their employees. Therefore, the leader will have a better impact on their staff members. Also, there will be no need to force them performing their job or implementing necessary change. She then added that a leader that displays professional advocacy, authenticity, power and influence could guide their employees into the right path, which will allow that staff member to see their ability to accept new positions they would have likely
