Over the past few years, there has been a significant increase of childhood obesity. Childhood obesity has become problematic in the United States. Children are being diagnosed with diseases that usually occur later in life. It concerns nurses as well as the public to know that childhood obesity may not be reversible. Nurses must focus their practice on ways to help their patients lead a healthier life. There are various ways that Healthcare Professionals can intervene to prevent the increase of childhood obesity. Recommending and monitoring their patient’s physical activities and diet, and advocating are some of the many ways that nurses can help prevent and manage the increase of childhood obesity.
Obesity and overweight are both defined as fat that has accumulated over time and has the ability to cause harm to the body. Estabrooks and Hayman (2008) found that childhood obesity is caused by the imbalance in energy intake and expenditure. There are significant factors that contribute to childhood obesity. A child who eats unhealthy meals in excessive amounts increases their likelihood of becoming obese. In addition, the lack of physical activity is a major cause of obesity. Berkowitz and Borchard (2009) indicate that race and ethnicity, parental knowledge and dietary habits, and environmental influences also contribute to childhood obesity. These causes are external locus of control that children are not able to change.
Children who are obese are at risk of having health complications. Type 2 diabetes in children is the most common a disease that has increased over the past few years. In addition,

...How to Write a Book Critique PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT: The idea behind this assignment is to give you the opportunity to read a detailed historical account on a particular subject and to analyze the book critically. The paper you will be writing should be a book critique, rather than a book report. In a book report, you simply summarize the book. In a book critique, you go much further - you analyze and evaluate the book. WHAT A BOOK CRITIQUE SHOULD INCLUDE: There are many things you should do in a good book critique. How much attention you give to these different components of the critique may vary depending on the book you are analyzing. 1. Summarize the book. Yes, despite what I said above about the difference between a book report and a critique, you nonetheless need to do some summarizing in your critique. You need to describe what the book is about in enough detail that someone who hasn’t read the book has a clear idea of the topic the author is addressing, the parameters of the book, and how the book is organized. If you don’t give your reader some idea what the book is about, then you may lose your reader when you start analyzing the book. Note that a chapter-by-chapter summary of the book is not needed. A general summary of the main points will be sufficient. 2. Identify the author’s purpose. What does your author want to accomplish with this book? What audience is the book intended for? Your author may want to fill a gap in historical literature...

Enron Case Study

...becoming the nation’s greatest company, Enron instead laid claim to being the largest corporate bankruptcy in the history. The greediness and egotism wiped out the honesty and integrity that should instill on the persons who were involved in this case. Arthur Edward Andersen built his firm, Arthur Andersen & Company, into one of the largest and most respected accounting firms in the world through his reputation for honesty and integrity. His motto was “Think straight, talk straight” and he insisted that his clients adopt that same attitude when preparing and issuing their periodic financial statements. Arthur Andersen’s auditing philosophy was not rule-based; instead he invoked a substance-over-form approach to auditing and accounting issues. He avidly believed that the primary role of the auditor was to ensure that clients reported fully and honestly to the public, regardless of the consequences for those clients. Ironically, Arthur Andersen & Co.’s dramatic fall from eminence resulted from its association with a client known for aggressive and innovative uses of “accounting gimmicks” to window dress its financial statements. Enron Corporation was the second largest client of the firm and was involved in large, complex transactions with hundreds of special purpose entities (SPEs) that it used to obscure its true financial condition and operating results. Among other uses, these SPEs allowed Enron to download underperforming assets from its balance sheet and to conceal...

The HIM professional needs to have a clear understanding of how to manage increasingly complex sources of health information. In this paper, we will discuss how the HIM professional should manage the use of paper forms in a hybrid environment in order to maintain the integrity of the health record. We will also compare the strengths and weaknesses of using hybrid records and discuss legal issues that may arise when using hybrid records. Additionally, we will evaluate the “Willow Bend Record Policy” to determine if it protects health information for record storage and destruction of paper and electronic health records based on Kansas state regulations, Medicare Conditions of Participation, and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). The term hybrid health record is used in today’s healthcare environment to describe a format that has both paper based and electronic information. Given that this type of health record is complex in content, it comes with additional requirements in regard to management. This is particularly true when comes to managing patient information into a concise, presentable formation. As HIM professionals, we should also be seeking ways to improve access to information and balancing that access with security.
