The world is constantly changing and a continuance of professional knowledge and abilities will have a significantly positive effect on career success. To just know the basics of one’s job is not enough if individuals have goals or plans for advancement. Development of professional knowledge and abilities will allow people to have more to offer to their company, employees, self, customers, etc. Knowledge is valuable to career success because it allows performance and abilities to be enhanced for optimal results. The more one knows and can do the more they can have a positive effect on their profession. Therefore, the success they bring to the organization will be reflected in their own success. One professional association that contributes to professional knowledge and abilities is known as the Air and Waste Management Association (A&WMA). This nonprofit organization serves the purpose of educating the public and mostly professionals in the environmental fields about being responsible in the involvement with the environment (Air and Waste Management Association, n. d.). The association provides adequate information, courses, and training for professional development in careers associated with the environment. The extensive knowledge that they provide contributes to ability to make more educated decisions, generate favorable ideas, perform duties confidently and thus become more successful in their careers.
