Product Scope Description
The purpose of this project is to design and build a custom bike for Matt Sturgis as per requirements stated below.
Functional Requirements: * The bike must be strong, light and easy to maintain. * The bike should run for at least 250 miles in 3-4 days ride for mountain bike race in Alaska. * The bike should be easy to maintain & shall come with spare parts – tire rim, hubs and spokes.
Supplemental Requirements: * The bike should have following accessories- front and rear lights, an air pump, a bracket to mount underseat GPS device, a small bike bag. * It shall have white cotton tape around the handlebar. * The bike shall be painted in red and silver color.
Constraints: * The bike shall not weigh more than 30 pounds. * It shall have 28” saddle height, 3” saddle setback, 9” handlebar height, 24” handlebar reach. * It shall have 20” wide handlebar with 10 in. stem.
Product Acceptance Criteria
Project is completed on time as agreed upon in this document.
The bike must meet all physical criteria (dimensions, weight) as mentioned in the requirements.
Project Deliverables
Mock-up design to verify dimentions.
Spare parts (2 per wheel) – tire rim, hubs and spokes
Project Exclusions * The shall come with spare parts – tire rim, hubs and spokes (2 per wheel) and any extra spare parts (if required) can be purchased separately (subject to availability). * The cost of the shipping crate and shipping / handling charges are out of budget for this project and shall be paid by Matt Sturgis. * Any accessory other than that mentioned in requirements above is out of scope for this project.
Project Constraints * The total cost of the bike shall not be more than $35,000 * The project shall be date be completed no later than two weeks prior to race day (by May 18th, 2012).
Project Assumption * Matt Sturgis shall provide the color pattern for the bike no later than one week after the design is approved. * Once the bike is shipped Holly Masters will not be responsible for any delays in shipping the bicycle. * The Alaka mountain race on June 1st, 2012 is the ONLY race this bike shall be used for. After this race the bike will be used for recreation purpose. * Holly Masters shall not be hold accountable for the final outcome (win or lose) of the race.
