...[1] David Kim and Michael G. Solomon. Fundamentals of Information Systems Security - Jones & Bartlett Learning, LLC. 40 - Tall Pine Drive Sudbury, MA 01776 – Copyright 2012 Chapter 5 [1] Chapter 5 explains in detail what is involved with “Access Controls”. Access Controls are methods used to restrict and allow access to certain things such as: cars, homes, computers, and cell phones. In many of our everyday items that we access, there are security features that we sometimes need to program ourselves, or are already programmed from the factory. It is a sequence that we have become familiar with since some of these items are considered valuable. Thus, security measures are needed in order to help protect them from malicious thievery or harmful conduct. Growing up, I learned at a very young age that I should always lock up my bicycle when I would go to the store or at a friend’s house. I learned this the hard way as I had my bicycle stolen while I went to the store to get a loaf of bread and left the bicycle unchained and unlocked outside. When I left the store, I found my bicycle gone. So when I saved up enough allowance to get a lock and chain, I never had my bicycle stolen again. The book goes into much formal detail about Access Control and specifies formal models which relate to the computer world more directly. Discretionary Access Control (DAC), Mandatory Access Control (MAC), Non-discretionary access control, and Rule-based access control are basic rules or guidelines...

...Project 1 The Corner Bar and Grill Floyd Hines (812)781-1071 fahines@eagles.usi.edu MKTG 305 Kevin Talley (812)480-7881 2668 Mount Vernon Ave Evansville, IN 47712 Submitted To: Dr. Sang Choe University of Southern Indiana The Corner Bar and Grill is a bar on the west side of Evansville and a staple in the community. It is the only recognized Greenbay Packers bar in the state of Indiana. It is known for its competitive prices on food and beer; also, for its famous and iconic “Slim Jim.” The Corner Bar is a very interesting place because its demographic slightly changes based on the time you enter the door; from the older gentlemen talking Reitz and Mater Dei football in the morning, to the after work crowd of construction workers, and finally to the after dinner crowd of college students. The Corner Bar and Grill does not have a known date of establishment as it has gone through multiple purchases over the years. The previous owner licensed it initially in 1998 and sold it to the current owner, Kevin Talley, in 2005. It is a unique place in the fact that it does not serve liquor, it only serves beer and wine. When asked why, the short answer is that The Corner is supposed to be a relaxed area for friends to meet and watch sports and they don’t want the headache that comes with serving liquor. They are know for their iconic “Slim Jim” which is a 32oz beer mug used to serve beer fresh from the tap. Their grill is one of the few open for breakfast, lunch and...

...What Being In Honors Means To Me Being in all honors means that you are a responsible and an organized person. Although it seemed I was not "honors material" last year, I can prove this year, my 8th grade year, that I am more than capable of being responsible. I have been in honors since 3rd grade, and it hurts to think that my years of honors are disappearing before me. I have never not been in all honors. I slacked quite a bit in 7th grade. I made a decision to be more responsible and organized towards the end of the year, but by then it was too late. What can I say? I slacked off last year and this is my punishment. I understand that due to my last year's work ethic it doesn't seem that I am honors material. I promise you I can be. Please let me be in all honors this year. It means a lot to me! If you don't want to take my word for it, feel free to ask any of my 6th grade and any elementary teacher that I had. Ask them how I did in school. My first "B" on my report card was in 5th grade. I was so disappointed I told my teacher (Mrs. M. Martin) that I shouldn't be in all honors. She said I belonged in all honors. I wish I could thank her for that. I would not have been able to handle not being in all honors. Luckily, the school decided to put me in all honors again in 7th grade. That's when I slacked off. I still managed to keep at least a "B" in all of my classes, but I did not do all of my homework. If it was counted as a late assignment, I either lost it in my mess of a...

...Running head: COURSE PROJECT 1 COURSE PROJECT 1 Jacqueline Foxwell DeVry University, Busn 379 March 19, 2011 Course Project – Part 1 Task 1: Assessing the loan options for Air Best Parts Inc. 1) Air Best Parts is currently seeking loans from National First Bank and Regions Best. National First bank is offering loans at Prime Rate + 6.75% compounded semiannually, while Regions Best is offering 13.17% compounded monthly. Both of these rates are stated rates, and in order to compare these two loan options, the stated rates or APRs must be converted to effective rates. The Prime Rate for National First is 3.25%. Below are the EARs for both banks: National First: (3.25 + 6.75 = 10%) [1 + (0.10/2)]^2 -1 = 0.1025 or 10.25% Regions Best: [1 + (0.1317/12)]^12 – 1 = 0.1399 or 13.99% 2) Based on the calculations above, it is recommended that Air Best Parts Inc. use National First Bank as opposed to Regions Best. The effective rate for National First is 10.25%, which is 3.74% lower than what is being offered by Regions Best. The effective rate is exactly what Air Best Parts will be paying back to the bank in the form of interest to the bank for borrowing money. Since this will be additional money on top of the principal, the goal is to minimize the amount of interest Air Best Parts will have to pay. Going with National First Bank will save the company money. 3) Taking a $6,950,000 loan at 8.6% APR for five years, Air Best Parts can expect their monthly...

...Nonlapan Burimsittichai Ungkana Lukkanavej Econ545: Project 1 – Microeconomic Analysis January, 26, 2015 Introduction In the previous years we have been experiencing a shortage on the supply of physicians, issue that according to the projections will not be changing any time soon. Given this situation we could probably already answer the question and risk to say that it is a good idea economy-wise to become a doctor, seeing that at least for the next 10 years the supply will not be anywhere close to satisfy the demand. There’s many factors that affect this increase in demand such as aging of population, the Baby Boomers that want to remain active and look for and use more healthcare as well as the next generations after them. It is also important to mention that an increase on productivity of healthcare could reduce the gap between demand of supply, but after many years and different attempts almost nothing has been achieved, since healthcare has become more and more complex. Here is a little extract from AAMC website talking about the issue of physicians shortage of supply: The number of federally funded residency training positions was capped by Congress in 1997 by the Balanced Budget Act. The 26,000 residency positions available for first year trainees will not be enough to provide training for the students graduating from medical school as early as 2016. In addition, Medicare support of graduate medical education (GME) includes paying its share of the costs...

After all, the shell is the most fundamental interface to the system, the conduit for all command-line interactions. Thus, it's important to have a solid foundation in whatever shell you choose. There are many different shells available, from Ash to Zsh. They all differ in many ways, and some (such as Csh and Tcsh) vary wildly from the others. Each has its selling points. However, because Bash has become the de-facto standard shell on most Unix-like operating systems and can generally be found everywhere, it makes an excellent place to start, even if you ultimately choose a different shell for daily use.
