...A current issue of controversy is abortion, which has polarized the national community and is a current hot topic in the Presidential debates. Two groups of abortion include the people who are pro-life who believe that there is a right to life before conception. This is based on moral and ethical issues as well as religious implications. The opposing group believes that life does not begin until after the baby is born and that the family has the right to choose. A feminist would describe the roots of this problem as based in the woman’s reproductive right to choose. A woman should have the right to their body and their health and that they should the freedom to choose their own life (Schoen, 2000). This is also evident in rape and incest cases where many feel that abortion needs to be an option after an involuntary event where a woman did not have the right to her own body. Political and ethical theories that are evident in this controversy include deontological and consequentialism (Canario, 2011). Those who are pro-abortion may follow consequentialism because they are concerned about the consequences of the abortion (or not having an abortion) which may mean health issues for the mother, sustaining a family that a parent can clearly not take care or long term issues of care for the child. Those who are anti-abortion can be seen as being deontological because they believe that the mother has a moral duty to society and to their religion or other beliefs that the child’s...

...Business Proposal Brenda McDonald BUS 340 Instructor: Ellie Parvin February 9, 2015 Business Proposal EXECUTIVE SUMMARY This business proposal will provide a solution to the current salary restraints for the Director of Sales and Marketing within the organization in a way that will help to increase sales revenue potentials for the property, while providing salary incentives for the director. The Economical Impact on the Properties The economical impact of Palmer-Gosnell Management, Inc.’s hotel background has not been at the expected levels since 2008. With the decline in travel from the leisure market (families and vacation type travel), it is important that Palmer-Gosnell Management retain a dedicated sales effort in order to remain competitive in the hotel market. The things to consider are the increasing costs to operate the hotel, the decreasing marketing budget allowances, and the slow travel markets that are over saturated with hotel rooms. Having a dedicated sales director who is responsible for driving revenues in order for the property to continue to operate and provide a return-on-investment to the stockholders is very important to the company. Provide revenue gains by changing the current salary structure. The sales director that is responsible would need some motivation to keep the hotel in good standings. Let’s start with; the amount of work load that is expected of the sales manager and the type of goals that must be achieved should be evaluated...

...Information System Proposal BIS/220 November , 2013 INTRODUCTION There are quite a few organizational information systems available for business to assist them in running properly. Five systems that would work well for our nostalgic record store: * Transaction Processing System * Office automation system * Supply Chain management system * Management information system * Electronic commerce system. PROPOSAL FOR EACH ORGINIZATIONAL INFORMATION SYSTEM The first system that would benefit our company is Transaction Processing System (TPS). This will help us collect, monitor, store and process data from business transactions. When we have a transaction with multiple items we will be able to use the data collected from the TPS to determine what items sell best together. We can promote these items together to gain more sales. The drawback to this system is not every customer is going to have the same interests and our received information will require more research. It will also not account for any loss, internally or externally. Office automation systems (OASs) will be used so that our business can we can properly support our staff. If we implement a project planning system like Teamweek, we can set the daily tasks or check lists of the store employee, and monitor their progress. This will also help us to keep track of employee productivity, and determine what tasks each employee should have accordingly. This system will only work its best if all...

...New System IT/205 March 1, 2015 University of Phoenix Abstract New System 1. Introduction Riodan Manufacturing has relocated in China due to China being partners and already having the facilities to start production. Riodan Manufacturing is still researching the shipping requirement to meet deadlines and get products to the customers. They have run over budget by $100,000 due to training employees to learn new systems. I have created a new system that will both save the company money and be able to train employees. 1. This system with has live Internet classes that are offered to the employees in the company. Cost has gone up to train employees the new systems and the employees have had to travel to complete these trainings. With onsite training, meetings and 24-hour tech services being provided to employees, this will cut down on cost in the future. The company will need to spend money to get this new system going but it will save them money in the future and they will also have the sources to keep up with the newest technology and be able to move more business around the world. 2. This system will be ran by human resources. Human resource will have a defined group who will set up all training that will be onsite of each factory with face-to-face conferences via Internet with teachers. 3. Transgender Discrimination is known as gender identity discrimination and is cover under Title VII. Gender Discrimination Applicable Laws ? Example of Gender Discrimination In the case where the senior partner asked the hiring manger overtly not to hire pregnant ladies or women under a certain age is illegal. Pregnancy Discrimination Act (PDA) forbids discrimination based on any aspect of employment (U.S Equal employment Opportunity Commission, YYYY). ...“A Modest Proposal,” is a satirical essay written and published by Jonathan Swift in 1729. Swift was a Protestant, but he was also a native of Ireland, having been born in Dublin of English parents, and was one of the most satirical writers of his time. Swift believed that the population of Catholic children in Ireland was creating an economic problem as well as being a burden on their parents and country. So Swift came up with a proposal that would satirize the English landlords with outrageous humor. He propose, jokingly, that Irish infants be sold as food at age one, when they are plump and healthy, to give the Irish a new source of income and the English a new food product to bolster their economy and eliminate a social problem. He says his proposal, if adopted, would also result in a reduction in the number of Catholics in Ireland. He also believed England was exploiting Ireland. Many Irishmen worked farms owned by Englishmen who charged high rents so high that the Irish were frequently unable to pay them. Consequently, many Irish farming families lived on the edge of starvation. Here, he is satirizing the rivalry and prejudice characterizing Catholic-Protestant relations in Britain. Swift also satirizes the Irish themselves in his essay, for too many of them had accepted abuse stoically rather than taking action on their own behalf. . He believes that English overlords are shamelessly exploiting the impoverished people of Ireland. He believed in order to fix...

...Research Question: Have the recent recalls effected Toyotas brand image? Product Description: We, as a group, chose this topic because Toyotas main slogan consists of ‘The Best Built Cars in The World’ despite having numerous recalls over the past number of years. This really appealed to us and we wanted to see how the recalls have effected potential customers of Toyota cars in Ireland. Toyota spent 33 days as the no.1 news story worldwide (24/7 wall st). We hope to learn if this negative news coverage has effected Toyotas market share in Ireland, along with Ireland’s overall view of Toyota as a brand. With this, we want to research new cars sales in Ireland over the past number of years and in particular around the months of February and March 2009 when the recalls for Toyotas reached their peak (Cole). With the large number of recalls, we also want to investigate if Toyota have changed their production practices and quality checks to prevent these large scale recalls from happening once again. Traditionally, this company had an essence of quality about its brand (Toyota-global.com) in Ireland and we want to see what Toyota Ireland is currently doing to reassure their target market that the recalls were a mere blip in the company’s overall history and Toyota are still reliable as they ever were. Along with new car sales, we also want to research the second-hand car market in Ireland and see what is Toyota’s market place is there. We felt this is important because a significant...

...extensive process of proposing, presenting, and discussing topics for Dons Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), Primary Evidence has been selected as our focus. Primary evidence is a central tenet of Emory’s intellectual life. It allows us to test hypotheses, provides the basis for data analyses, centers humanistic inquiry, and is the substance of the creative process. In October 2011, a committee under the leadership of Mellisa Anders (Professor of Art History) and Melanie Donson (Professor of Physics) put out a call for proposals. An enthusiastic response from the wider Emory community, including faculty, students, staff, and alumni resulted in the selection of four final themes. In February 2012, the four proposals were posted on the Propsal website. In late February and early March the authors of these proposals made public presentations at town hall meetings, providing additional information and seeking comments and reactions from the Enchatia community. Feedback was also received through electronic outreach to relevant constituents. Revised proposals were reviewed in April 2012 by the QEP Selection Committee, resulting in the recommendation of Primary Evidence as Emory’s QEP. The SAD leadership team, under the guidance of President Andrews, accepted this recommendation. The quality of the proposals was outstanding and much energy and imagination was invested in their development. A closer review shows many overlapping themes and objectives for the ongoing enhancement...

...governments whose purpose is to conserve whale populations and manage whaling. Though they have banned commercial whaling there are a few exceptions to the rule that allow participating nations in the IWC to continue to kill whales. One is that governments give aboriginal communitees a permit to kill a certain number of whales each year, since whaling plays in a role in their economic and cultural lives. Some examples include Inuit tribes in Greenland and Eskimo tribes in Alaska. The other way to hunt whales under the moratorium is through a special scientific permit. A participating nation may submit a proposal to the scientific committee of the IWC and they will review the proposal on certain conditions such as whether or not the propsal has an adverse affect on the stock of a certain species and if the data being collected cannot be found using non-lethal methods. The government can then issue the permit to a fleet, which they can revoke at any time, and set a catch limit on the whales. Three nations have objected to the moratorium, two of which still continue to hunt whales to this day. Norway and Iceland continue to whale in their exclusive economic zones, which are areas determined by the united nations that countries have exclusive rights to explore and take resources. Norway and Iceland both set catch limits and must submit information, number of kills and any scientific data to the scientific commitee of the IWC. Iceland began their own scientific research...
