____ Made the argument that deforestation in the Amazon rainforest will help create more jobs and opportunities in Brazil, and also help make more profit for the Nation. I disagree, I believe that in this scenario the negatives will heavily outweigh the positives. The more people these logging companies employ the more land they will deforest, using their highly destructive clear cutting. Many sources say,(including NPR, The Guardian,and Reuters) that diseases ravage the poverty stricken citizens of Brazil. About 72% of deaths are due to non communicable diseases. When you destroy the forest, you may kill plants or animals that could be used to help treat the illnesses. They say that since most of the time the trees already cut down. I, however disagree that the land is being put to good use. I think that when you think about the long term effects it puts their argument to rest. High numbers and concentration of cows contribute to pollution heavily. According to www.independent.co.uk cows contribute as much as vehicles when talking about pollution. Cattle Ranchers also use already deforested land to let their cattle graze, as well as using african grass. This takes up whatever nutriance the ground still has left and prevents trees from growing back. The more cows in one place also increases the likelihood a disease outbreak, effectively wiping out huge amounts of cows.
