Have you ever felt like someone was behind you, and when you turn around there was someone actually behind you? This is referred to a psychology called parapsychology. Psychologists rarely pursue this field because it is very skeptical. Parapsychology is the investigation of psychic and the paranormal. Parapsychologists categorize ESP, telepathy, clairvoyance, psychokinesis, and apparitions into this study. Many believe this study to be a false claim. Others stand strong beside parapsychology and dedicate all their research to it, but should parapsychology be an accepted science?

He was an American botanist who founded research in parapsychology. He also founded the parapsychology lab at Duke University, and the Rhine Research Center in Durham still thrives for parapsychology research (Rhine). Can parapsychology be disproved? The Ganzfeld technique could be a way to disproved it, by blocking all sensory stimuli it will cause hallucinations. Your brain will make up for what is not there. For example, if you sit in a dark, quiet room alone waiting to hear a noise, you will hear ominous sounds that your mind makes up. James Carpenter stated in his book First Site: ESP and Parapsychology in Everyday Life that, “Psi is not an ability” and “Psi is not a trait” (Pasciuti).
