...previous wars. Sony, the maker of PlayStation, and Microsoft, the maker of Xbox, are expected to release their next-generation systems in November. This report will be a comparative analysis of the soon-to-be-released Xbox One and PS4. The purpose of this report is to compare both systems on their specific features. The goal is to find out which system is the best when comparing both capabilities and value. This comparative analysis is intended to help customers decide which system is better suited for their needs. This report covers: * The general description of each product * Accessories * Specifications * Exclusive games for each individual system After extensive research, I found that both systems are fairly comparable from a technical standpoint. However, I recommend the PS4 over the Xbox One based on value and services. General Description of Products PS4 Mark Cerny, lead architect of the PS4, said the development of the eighth-generation console began in 2008 (“PlayStation 4”). The PS4 is developed and created by Sony Computer Entertainment (“PlayStation 4”). The PS4 release date in North America and Canada is November 15, 2013, and November 29, 2013, for Australia and Europe (Rivington). ...Xbox One Vs PS4 “Every age has its storytelling form, and video gaming is a huge part of our culture. You can ignore or embrace video games and imbue them with the best artistic quality. ...Recommendation Report: PS4 vs. Xbox One Purchase Date: March 21, 2015 To: Dr. Kihn From: Marcearrow Bruce Subject: Purchase Recommendation for Gaming Consoles The purpose of this report is to recommend the gaming console that you should purchase for yourself. You had informed me that you wanted to upgrade your current gaming system to one of the newer gaming system. I limited my choices to two: Play Station 4 and the Xbox One. To determine which gaming system I should recommend, I evaluated them using the following criteria in ranked order: * Price * Entertainment & Apps * Game Library RECOMMENDATION I recommend that you purchase the Xbox One, which (In my opinion) is the best choice. First, the price is within the $400 you set to spend and you get more for your money if you buy the Xbox One. Second, the entertainment & apps of the system is everything you was looking for and more. Lastly, it don't matter which system you pick, there are games available for both and Xbox has exclusive games as well. CRITERIA DISCUSSION As you requested, I researched several gaming system between Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo. I found that each system are now highly specialized to make the gamer happy and user friendly. Each system has its own special features, but I narrowed it down to the top two gaming system mentioned before. These two systems were unique and the top two gaming systems on the market today. The following table is a...

...Introduction to Information Management IST621 Summer 2014 Research and Reflection on IM Success and Failure Syracuse University School of Information Studies Dexi Kong Success case #1: Yo, an English slang is now the name of a widely successful app. How it works? Nothing but sending “Yo” to your friends--Stupid but simple. The app, which debuted in April, has been downloaded two million times, according to Or Arbel, the chief executive. "We Yo with co-workers alerting them that a meeting is starting; I Yo with my wife as a 'hi' during a busy day, I Yo with friends, without any more expectation or need than a Yo back." -- Investor of Yo John Borthwick As much as $10 million. That is the valuation investors have assigned to the new smartphone app. ere is how it success, from my personal perspective. Usefulness is the success metric of any technology rather than capabilities. Say, we need alert someone of something. A phone call might be too intrusive or unnecessary, a text message is not noticeable enough, an email may be even more ignorable. Fortunately, now we have Yo, that could help us fill this gap, fill those tiny moments that we don’t want it to be ignored but would rather not bother others by making a phone call. Technology is meant to simplify people’s life. By using this app, we can save lots of words by simply saying “Yo”. Under certain context, it’s not necessary to “make things so clear”, both the massage deliver and receiver knows what’s...

...Xbox One vs. Playstation 4 Media (Artifact paper) Mario Palomino Student ID: 1760440 BUSB 340 – Robert Liljenwall Due Date: February 23 2014 What hell is a Nintendo? I got my first video game console in the summer of 1991. My parents purchased it from SEARS for my birthday and at which point I had no idea what it was. A couple of the kids and their parents knew that it was and were shocked that my parents spend $100 dollars on something like that. It was still in the box until one afternoon I came home from school. I set it up in the living room, only room with a television. Popped in Super Mario Bros, this simple 8-bit game would change the entertainment industry. I did not become a fanboy until I attend Florida A&M. Besides my classes and football schedule, I usually spend my free time in my apartment. One of my friends back home told me about Microsoft’s Xbox gave gamers the ability to play against each other and they did not need to be in the same living room. Walked into a Game Stop and walked out with my first console since the Nintendo my parents got me so many birthdays ago. Once at my apartment, plugged everything in and started playing. Completely different from what I remember when I was eight years ago. Xbox became my gateway drugs, from hours of study, from the beating my body would take from football and boredom. History of Sony's gaming console Before Sony entered into the gaming industry they establish Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) in mid-November...

...Case Study 3 Xbox One vs. PS4 If you have children, are a gamer or enjoy entertainment at home, there isn’t a conversation taking place that doesn’t include Microsoft Xbox One or Sony Playstation 4. But there is so much more to the story of console gaming that meets the eye. Your job: • Read this case study: http://blogs.hbr.org/2013/11/three-strategy-lessons-from-the-latest-round-of-xbox-vs-playstation/ • Once you review, write and executive memo that neatly answers the questions (and summarizes) the following: 1.) Is the target audience for both consoles the same? Or are they different? Efficiently explain the target audience for each (or arugue if they are the same) 2.) What are possible substitutes for the consoles? Please list three substitutes and offer at least one reason (for each substitute)why consoles should be concerned that a buyer might turn to this alternative product to meet their entertainment needs? 3.) Considering the demographics/psychographics of the buyer of PS4 and Xbox One, what would be two specific marketing disciplines you would recommend using to introduce the brand-new product? How would you know if the marketing of the message worked? (in short, how would you evaluate success?) 4.) Let’s assume a buyer bought a product/game to play on the console. And let’s assume a hacker manipulated the product (such as this example): http://www.slate.com/blogs/future_tense/2013/12/04/nba_2...

...Episode black Friday it starts off with the security management at South Park Mall briefing its guards on the upcoming Black Friday, shopping day, where in the past people have seriously gotten hurt. The old veteran reminds the guards that the mall is offering an 80% discount to the first 20 people at the mall, which is certain to incite violence among shoppers. Among the guards is Randy Marsh, who has taken the job only to get ahead of the line. Meanwhile the kids of South Park are dressed in medieval and training for the upcoming battle which takes place on black Friday. Cartman informs his classmates of the 80% discount and tells them that if they work together they can get the Xbox one together. Some of the children become outraged knowing that this is for the Xbox one saying that they should get the ps4. The children become divided and close friend stand and Kyle go on to form two different armies. Each army tries to recruit other children in order to increase their ranks for black Friday. The episode ends for a continuation for the next to find out what happens on black Friday. Introduction: The producer opens the episode with the briefing of the south park mall security guards on what is to come on “Black Friday”. This opens up the show to brief you on what this south park episode is going to be about. It offers humor in that the briefing is just like briefing they have in the army. They end the introduction skit with the veteran telling them they must work together for that...

...recommendation…………………………………………………………..15 Appendix……………………………………………………………………………………………..17 Citations……………………………………………………………………………………………….21 Executive Summary 1.) The key marketing decisions involved with the Xbox one that need to be made in order to sell this product successfully include: the features that will set this product over the top from its older model the Xbox 360 and its direct competition the PS4. Another key decision to consider when producing the Xbox one is the release date of the product and the pricing of the product. Also producers need to consider what games are coming out for their console around that time and the popularity of them. 2.) The target market audience for the Xbox one ranges from 12-26 year old males. This choice is valid because starting in middle school through high school teenage boys are the main users of these console products. At these ages most likely their parents will be the ones buying the products for them, so they normally have the top of the line consoles once they come out. As they reach 18-26 they hit the young adult age, they still use these consoles all through university and even into the real world. That age might be a little behind in the up to date consoles just for price purposes. 3.) The positioning Xbox is going for is high quality, but with...

...AMD as a Company History Customers should come first, at every stage of a company’s activities. This customer driven approach to doing business was at the core of AMD’s founding in 1969 and remains the central focus of the company’s policy today. Advanced Micro Devices was founded in 1969 by a group of former executives from Fairchild Semiconductor. The company began by exclusively designing and producing microprocessors and slowly building on their core competencies to foray into other computer hardware. In 1975, AMD introduced a reverse-engineered clone of the Intel 8080 microprocessor. Even then Intel chip architecture was considered the industry standard. AMD’s laggard position in the industry can be traced all the way back to the beginning. Throughout the seventies AMD diversified its product portfolio into graphics, audio devices, and computer memory. AMD achieved minor success in the 1980s by briefly competing in the modem industry. At the time, AMD manufactured the only modem compatible with the various idiosyncrasies of the different telephone companies. In the late eighties AMD decided to devote its focus mainly to designing and manufacturing microchips. The company chose to compete directly with Intel and their established chip architecture. AMD acquired ATI Technologies in 2006, marking the company’s serious entry into the graphics industry. AMD’s jump into graphics got off to a rocky start. Later that year, AMD and its main rival in the graphics industry, NVIDIA...
