Upon entering the rDNA sequence of unknown 23 in the BLAST search database. It was found that the identity of the unknown was actually Bacillus pumilus. Through my lab tests and data interpretation I found the unknown to be Pseudomonos gladioli.
The reason was behind this mismatch was due to the gram stain that I performed at the very beginning. I must have left it in the dye for too long or used to much alcohol causing the purple dye to become obsolete. The pinkish color observed during the oil immersion lead me to believe that both of the tests I ran on my unknown were a gram negative. This could have been avoided if I had done the string test that many of the other classmates performed with the help of Dr. Chen. This would have allowed
