I did and it was not easy to say the least in fact it was a living nightmare or so I thought at the time. In this paper I will present a brief description of how I survived my family growing up, but most importantly how my family and some of my life experiences have impacted my life as I know it today. Using the adult development theories from this course I will also bring to light some of my future goals and what I would like to accomplish. I was the youngest of nine children living in Brooklyn New York inside what seemed to be a small two story walkup. So needless to say I had all the cards stacked against me, with five older sisters and three older brothers simple things people in allot smaller families take for granted day after day, I did not know of until I was almost the age of fourteen, simple things like; Privacy, having seconds at dinner sometimes just having dinner was a task by itself. ...My Final reflection Learning isn’t about how much you know but how you apply it in to your every day life. But understanding how you learn will allow you to understand the world around you and making sense of it. By identifying your strengths and weaknesses of a task can be very beneficial to how you will succeed the task at hand. Understanding how you learn by using your learning patterns. Your learning patterns are sequence, precision, technical reasoning and confluence. Sequence is the type of learning patterns were you like direction, order and organization when starting a task. Precision is were you like details, you identify, and explain a task or when starting a task. Technical reasoning is you build, fix, and like to figure out tasks on you own. Confluence is that you like to thing out side the box. You brainstorm, create, and you take a chance with your tasks or in life. My views have changed dramatically with this class. Now being to under stand how I learn I feel that I can take on anything and come out feeling good about it. Being able to understand how I use my learning patterns has helped me so much not only with this class but with work, home, and even my kids. Learning is apart of use even when were not realizing it. I am a dynamic learner I use my patterns one to two at a time. I think in steps, like clarification, and like to have as much information when starting a task. I have the mind to problem solve when it comes my way. Sequence 30- I am a planner...

...Name: Tonya Heffington Date: September 15, 2014 Life Event: The significant, uplifting, positive experience/event from my life would be graduating high school. Explanation: Graduating high school was a challenge for me. I had my son half way through my junior year in high school. I continued high school after having my son but did my school work from home for the second half of my junior year. I would turn in my work weekly to the school counselor. I then attended high school full time my senior year. I was completely responsible for my son as his father wasn't around. It was probably the hardest thing I have done in my life. Sometimes running on only hours of sleep I would force myself to get up, walk my son to daycare and go to school. I had to work hard to make sure he had everything he needed and still try to focus on school work. I graduated with honors. Reflection: Graduating high school and being able to walk across that stage holding my son made me feel very proud of myself. I felt like I could and would make it in this big world. It was a very special moment in my life. At one point I didn't think I would make it and some others didn't as well but I showed my self and everyone that I did it! Life Event: The significant, uplifting, positive experience/event from my life would be getting married to my husband. Explanation: Getting married to my husband was significant to me because we had to overcome some major road bumps. My husband...

...ABSTRACT Motivation is a concept used to explain why behavior changes over time, why behaviors are persistent or not persistent, and why behavior is directed toward different goals at different times. In this paper I will define the approaches that motivate us and how emotions drive us intrinsically and extrinsically. Motivation and Emotion Motivation can be described as goal directed behavior and according to the reading material Psychology and Your Life (2012) the five approaches to motivation are instinct, drive- reduction, arousal, incentive and cognitive. The first approach is instinct this approach upholds instincts or “inborn patterns of behavior that are biologically predetermined” as the factors that influence behavior (University of Phoenix, 2010, pp. 244-248). The instinct approach explains why we have food and mate- seeking behaviors viewed by all humans as, hunger and sex, they are primary instincts. According to the instinct theory organisms are motivated to behave in certain ways because, they are evolutionarily programmed to do so. An example would be how in the animal world there is seasonal migration. These animals do not learn this roaming behavior, moving periodically from one region or climate to another; it is instead, an inborn pattern of behavior. Drive-reduction is the second approach which states that a lack of some requirement drives us to obtain that need. Homeostasis, the steady internal state with in our body...

...Testing a Theory A few years ago I decided to test the memorization skills of my children to decide what worked best for helping them remember rules and chores. I used two different methods I have learned in remembering written words and something that has only been spoken to an individual. I wanted to see which technique worked better for them. I gave instructions to the children who were able to read and told them to read the paper until I was done with the my other children. I took those same words and read them to my children who could not read and had them recite it back as I read to them. After I was done reading to the children who could not read and took the paper away from the ones who could. After letting about a half an hour go by I asked the children to either write down, if they can write, or to tell me what they remembered from what they read or what they were told. This method is similar to a correlation research because there were two different variables I was testing in order to determine the best way to help them memorize information. I do have the opportunity to do this again and I would probably only add in the fact of letting the children who cannot read look at the words to see if that has an added benefit in memorization because the children who read for themselves seem to have had an easier time with recall. I think the ethical issue I encountered was ethical consent. I did not tell my children about what I was doing at all. Informed consent...

The first to motivation is approach is instinct. According to instinct approaches to motivation, people and animals are born preprogrammed with sets of behaviors essential to their survival. The next approach is drive-reduction; Drive-reduction approaches to motivation suggest that a lack of some basic biological requirement such as water produces a drive to obtain that requirement. The next approach is arousal. According to arousal approaches to motivation, each person tries to maintain a certain level of stimulation and activity. The next approach is Incentive approaches to motivation which that suggests motivation stems from the desire to obtain valued external goals, or incentives. Finally Cognitive approaches to motivation which suggests that motivation is a product of people’s thoughts, expectations, and goals their cognitions. Taken together, the different approaches to motivation provide a broad understanding of behavior. There are five main emotions that every human being has. The five emotions are love, joy, anger, sadness, and fear. As a student these emotions can affect me on a daily basis. One positive emotion I feel is joy.
