A person’s personality is a complicated mental characteristic that makes the individual special from other people. Personality can be developed through the upbringing of an individual. This includes how we think and our emotions cause us to do and say things in a certain manner. A person’s personality can be expressed through his or her temperament or emotions (Allport 1961); however, the acquirement of values, beliefs, and expectations because of socialize and peculiar experiences, especially during childhood. Hereditary conditions contribute to personality development through interactions with a particular social environment in which we live in (Allport 1961 p.34).

Psychologist over the last decades, pointed to hereditary conditions, as being more important to personality traits. For example when one grows up with a father who is a failure and does not hear anything positive, chances are this individual will see himself as a failure and believe this lie and might end up pessimistic about himself and this can develop a low self-esteem personality trait. Another example is that a person may be short in a society that takes into consideration of individuals who are tall as attractive people and or short people more attractive than tall people. Hereditary factors are most likely to cause a person to feel that he or she is good looking, ugly, or just okay. The same applies to the color of a person’s skin, gender, and sexual orientations are likely to have a huge effect on how a person or individual perceives him or herself; whether he or she is accepted by others as being normal or not normal can cause a person to think and act in a socially accepted manner.
