Chapter 9
Develop a Daycare/Preschool
Parents are shown that a specific code has to be entered to enter the building (which will be in an office area). The parents will then have to show a license to pick child up and to sign a book with the child’s information and whoever is signing them out. They will walk you around and show you each room, according to age group. Explain the various rules and regulations to each room and meet each teacher/teacher assistants. When meeting teachers and assistants they would explain their schooling to be qualified for the job. Even though my child is in the three year old room, I would like to know the procedures of what is done with dirty diapers or soiled clothing. They also explain the eating schedules and bring the group into the kitchen and explain the rules. They would also explain the restroom procedures. Then they would explain the way children are disciplined, and then explain daily routines.
Child can copy shapes and draws designs. Child can pour liquids, eat with silverware, and use toilet alone. Child dresses self with help.
They will eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack, and possibly a dinner. (Depending how long they are there). Breakfast-fruit and a pop tart; Lunch-a sandwich with vegetables and fruit; Dinner-Spaghetti, vegetables and bread. All these would vary according to a day. Specific needs would be dealt with according to their needs specifically.
Nap after lunch- rest 30 minutes and nap for 30 minutes.
They will get a lot of exercise with interactive play and recess.
The staff would have to be interactive everyday with the children, say good morning/good afternoon and remembering all the children’s name.
Separation anxiety will be handled by making the child feel comfortable in their surroundings. I would like them to feel as though this is a home away from home.
Everyone would be qualified and like their jobs.

10-11 circle time
11-12 outside
12-1 lunch
1-2 story time
2-3 nap time
3-4snack
4-5 circle time
5-6 dinner/ departure
Building would have various rooms (according to age) with their own bathrooms. A kitchen, a play yard, and a large entertainment area.
Toys according to which age group they would go with, equipment for outside would also be for smaller kids.
Yes we would have special activities for different times of the year; Halloween –got to a pumpkin patch and summers go on various field trips.
We would have a janitor on hand.
On religion, that’s very hard to say. Everyone has different beliefs, but we would all say Merry Christmas and its Halloween to one another.

There is someone in everyone’s lives that is somehow touched by addiction, is that person strong enough to beat this disease? Or will they be another statistic? Injection drug users seem to have very little concern regarding the possibilities of contracting diseases from needle sharing, and unsafe sexual practices (Eriksson, 2011). Substance abuse is out of control in many societies. Leaving the people that are not drug users to deal with the repercussions of those whom are addicts. The possible solutions for addicted people are relapse prevention, rehabilitation facilities, and some say utilizing the twelve step programs, while working the steps with a sponsor. There are some that think using twelve step programs actually make an addict want to use drugs even more than before going to a twelve step meeting.
