These memories are seared into our minds as moments or situations in which we have felt alive, true to our deepest selves, and pursuing our full potential as human beings. Think about three times in your life when you were at your very best. Pretty Little Liars

...Savannah Wade Evaluation Essay February 16, 2014 Pretty Little Liars There are a lot of different television shows running on the air now a days. The one I have been absolutely hooked to is Pretty Little Liars, on ABC Family. This show is a confusing drama, suspense, and thriller type of show. A thriller/suspense show would most likely be a type of show that is keeping you at the edge of your seat the entire time. A dramatic television show would have a ton of plot twists and turns, as everyone finally gets the hang of the show. Pretty Little Liars was released in June 8, 2010 just in time for summer. The director of the television series is Oliver Goldstick. The television show is based upon the book series written by Sara Shepard. Pretty Little Liars is an amazing show because it not only messes with your head, but it makes you try and figure out the mystery in the show, Equally important, The series is up to 4 seasons and the drama and suspense just keeps on rolling and changing throughout each season. There are 4 best friends who have been lying about the truth of what happened during a certain time in summer where all these strange events have occurred. The 4 best friends are getting questioned all the time is because there best friend who is the leader of the pack was actually murdered that summer. After there friend Alison DiLaurentis went missing,, they all lost touch. Finally a year later they came back together when Alison’s body was found. They have been...

...at the moment, The Walking Dead has had several episodes that I consider to be non-linear. Days pass between each episode with months even having passed between each season. A majority of this show's episodes begin with a look into the future, or shows the aftermath of a battle that is probably going to take place during the episode. Flashbacks of helicopters flying over the city, of Rick when he was left in the hospital by Shane, and of Rick's encounter with Morgan occurred often during the first season. The most recent episode that showed characteristics of non-linear storytelling was the episode "Internment". This was the fifth episode of the fourth season, and until then we had not heard of The Governor since he went crazy at the end of the third season. The next two episodes then went on to explain what The Governor had done since the incident and why he was stalking the prison yet again. The non-linear structure enhances the episode because it added a lot of suspense for anyone who had been watching since The Governor was first introduced. Seeing him standing outside the prison, watching Rick, Carl, Hershel, and Michonne, left the audience questioning what was going to happen next. The next couple answered those answered through flashbacks then finally the final episode before the mid-season finale picked up with him outside the fences. Showing him not shoot Michonne or Rick immediately at the end of the fifth episode, then showing how he was abandoned and taken in...

...might be in the Wild West, in the midsts of a Wagnerian opera-land, or in outer space.  Using for reference the last three episodes you have viewed from your chosen tv series, do the characters change and grow, or do they stay the same between episodes?   Are there reoccurring locations, or is there a new setting for the show each week?  If your show is different in these ways from Golden Age cartoons, why do you think that is?   In the last three episodes of my tv show, Scooby-Doo, the characters don’t change or grow in their characters but they do become more eager and impatient in finding more mysteries and getting them solved. For example, in one of the episodes Velma, Daphne, Fred, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo are all sitting around Fred’s house bored and ready for another mystery to land in their hands. Velma says “I’m so bored, we haven’t had a good mystery in I don’t know when.” This is usually the case in most episodes. The gang is anxiously waiting for another mystery to solve when one comes straight into their hands. In these episodes each mystery is occurring in different locations. One is occurring in Gatorsburg, the second in their hometown, and another on the beach. I don’t think the show I’m watching is that much different than ones from the Golden Age because they both have a somewhat violent context to the episodes. Some of the episodes in the Golden Age involve two characters arguing or fighting to get something they want. I think it’s the same in this tv show...

Puberty Blues Speech

...teenager. Puberty Blues is set in Cronulla, Sydney, in the late 1970's. Majority of the time, Debbie and Sue's houses are used, but the 'greenhill gang' are also featured hanging around by the beach. Puberty Blues tells the story Debbie Vickers and Sue Knights. They are both very clever but somewhat unpopular high school girls who wants to raise their social standings in order to go out with boys. Through out the episodes we get to know the girls' parents- Judy and Martin who are closed off and don't interact with each other much and Pam and Roger who have a far more open relationship. The sixth episode was directed by Glendyn Ivin and written by Fiona Seresis. The main plot is when the 'greenhill gang' including Debbie and Sue, get wasted, go driving and flip the car, killing the driver. Any other show would have sent the characters into an instant panic but the writers of Puberty Blues understand that the shock combined with drugs would have caused everyone to burst into disbelieving laughter. The car crash wasn't the only plot in the episode though. Debbies parents, Judy and Martin, got to couples councilling because Martin has strong feelings for a women at his work. Cheryl, a member of the 'green hills' gang, is flirting with her mum's boyfriend to prove she is more desirable than her mother, who resents. The social issue pressented in the show was definitely driving under the influence. This message is easily interpreted in the car crash scene were the...

Supernatural Violence

...differentiation between violent fiction, and more realistic violence. Evidence suggests that viewers choose to watch violent fiction only if there is a second attraction to the show, such as comedy, fantasy, or a good storyline. Surprisingly, most of those involved in the study reported that they found the real violence of society to be more brutal than that of fiction tv shows. Further into her study, Andres uncovered proof that while viewers were exposed to violent television, most showed no obvious negative effects, unless they had personally been victims of violence. The CW’s show Supernatural certainly meets requirements to be considered a violent piece of fiction, as most if not all of its episodes include at least one death on screen, and copious amount of blood, swearing and fights. One episode is even bluntly titled “Sex and Violence” the biggest fears of protective parents when regulating shows for their children. Yet Supernatural is part of the “Big Three” popular shows in...

Web or Mobile System Paper

...Web or Mobile System Paper: Netflix Abstract For the best free application for personal use is Netflix. The app itself is free but you have to pay for usage as far as purchasing goes. Very versatile you can use it on a mobile device, gaming console, or computer (i.e. Laptop, tablet, desktop). It’s good for people who can’t afford cable, don’t have time to catch their favorite shows, and enjoy watching old and new movies. There are other companies out there such as Hulu, Voodoo, and Viewster to name a few. I personally prefer Netflix because of the advertisement it received on my Xbox One. Netflix For the “at home” or the “on the go” movie lover, Netflix is a great app. You can download it on your mobile device, pc, and gaming console. It uses one account for multiple devices. The best thing for me is that your spouse and child can have their own profile. Netflix has been around for a long time and it is still running strong even though the competition is steadily increasing. This app is affordable, user friendly, and constantly upgrading to meet the needs of its users. Netflix is very affordable for even the lowest of budgets. I have found that Netflix is cheaper than going to the movies and paying for cable and overall, renting movies. Netflix allows the customer to set up one account with multiple profiles, for multiple devices at one low price. Although the movies and TV shows are a little slow coming to Netflix you are still able to watch some of your childhood...

...Devron Edwards TV Analysis Ian Peters 12/8/14 Community Today there are many shows that reflect American culture and issues that occur because of it. One of the shows that does an excellent job doing this is Community. Community is an American TV comedy created in 2009 by Dan Harmon. The show not only addresses social issues with a comedic approach, it also delivers great story telling. The show uses race and ethnicity to deal with serious issues, but in a comical way that makes it less controversial. Its use of the sitcom framework allows it to make light of situations and build upon them in the future. It is because of this use of the sitcom formula, that the show has developed a deep fan base that keeps the show alive. Community reflects American culture through its use of stereotypes, sitcom structure, and its development of a cult following. Community’s main cast is very diverse in race, age, and culture. Though the 7 characters are all diverse, they fit into stereotypes sometimes. Troy the black male, was supposed to play sports for Greendale community college, this follows the stereotype of schools getting black athletes to come to their schools. Troy is also portrayed as unintelligent which touches on the stereotype that athletes are not smart. Though Troy follows these stereotypes, Dan Harmon challenges them by making Troy dorky. Troy becomes best friends with Abed, an Indian character that very weird and is only into movies and television. The two have a very...

...you need to analyse the short story. If you do not know how to do this there are some questions and tasks you can use on pp. 5-6 in the pdf document. Your pitch must include: * A characterization of the two main characters: Fossi and Jeseca. The characterization of Fossi must include an explanation of some of her powers such as the “mind-send” and her ability to seemingly remove solid objects from existence. * A characterization of at least one more important character. (max. 3) * A description of the world in which it takes place using the types of worlds we talked about in the first class about fantasy. * An explanation of what a "Familiar" is and what it means to be "wyse". * An outline of the first two episodes. * A picture suggesting what "Fossi" looks like in disguise.   How to pitch: * When you pitch an idea it is important to grab your audience quickly so think of a snappy introduction e.g. * "Imagine a world where humans believe they are in control, but really they are not. They are controlled by magical creatures who have bonded with their human from childhood. * One of the first things you do in a pitch is to say your "logline" which is a one to two sentence description that tells the basic premise of the show. This could be the very first thing you say. * An example of a logline could be:"A likeable husband's tolerance and marriage is tested by the constant intrusion of his overbearing parents and dim-witted...

Twenty Four

...after being assumed dead at the conclusion of season four? 2. Credibility: I have not missed a single episode of twenty four since its deputed 5 years ago. Tonight the show is on from 8pm-9pm but you better believe that the TIVO is set. 24 revolutionized the after work action/drama genre for me. It deals with contemporary issues, real and more or less plausible terrorist threats, and a real-time hourly format, 24 redefined my expectations for all shows going forward. 3. Thesis: 24 is a great alternative to mindless, dull, and uninteresting television shows that flood the airways today. 24 is sure to grasp your attention away from other shows such as “The Apprentice©”, “Americas Funniest Home Videos©”, and “Gilmore Girls©” that sure the same time slot. II. BODY: 1. NEED STEP: A. There are many shows on television that just don’t catch the attention of the viewers. If any of you are like my uncle you may just watch whatever show the remote takes you too. While this can be entertaining, it does may not satisfy you as much as it could. B. Although “CSPAN©” may teach you politics, “Iron Chef©” may enhance your cooking skills, and “WWE Raw©” may give some that macho soap opera experience; none of these shows will give you the overall satisfaction that 24 has to offer. It is full of romance, suspense, action, and more. Just one episode can and will get you hooked. C. 24 has the ability to captivate audiences with absolute...

The Boondocks -vs- Consumerism

...against useless, inferior, or dangerous products, misleading advertising, and unfair pricing.” Aaron McGruder’s, episode of the animated Cartoon Network show, The Boondocks “The Block is Hot,” is about how a heat wave comes to the town of Woodcrest in the middle of the winter. A neighborhood girl named Jazmin starts a lemonade stand, which is bought by a businessman, Mr. Wuncler. Meanwhile, 10-year old political activist, Huey, stands on a soap box and talks about violations of human rights issues. Through these features, one can see how consumerism plays a role in this television show. Because this episode has the distinctive features most animated television shows have, of addressing real issues by exaggerating them, having recurring characters that the audience is familiar with and having a conflict or problem that is usually solved by the end of the episode, it demonstrates how consumerism isn’t just associated with our economy or large corporations. In, “The Block is Hot,” Aaron McGruder displays a distinctive feature that most animated television shows express when he addresses a real issue that is going on in our society today, by exaggerating it. McGruder addresses the real issues of consumerism, which shows how this distinctive feature supports this episode’s argument of how they're exploitation and corruption with consumer culture in America. The episode starts off with Jazmin who on this hot day in Woodcrest, decides to open a lemonade...

Last week’s episode left you on the edge of your seat and tonight’s show is so unbelievable that your heart won’t stop racing. ...raising show. The first episode alone has women showing very little shame in strutting their stuff for the whole world to see. This world known hit series received 31 nominations at numerous events as well as a nomination for one Golden Globe. Among those 31 nominations, 20 belong to #OITNB. Along with the storyline, the cast is outrageous. From glamorous to humorous, they cover it all. Piper Chapman, the main character on #OITNB played by Taylor Schilling, looks like just your average girl. A petite blonde with a past you will never see coming. And lets not forget Laverne Cox, the transgender LGBT advocate who also plays Sophia Burset on #OITNB and doesn’t ever have to “get into character” while on set. The first thing that I look for in a television show is an appealing plot. The description of the storyline informs you that Piper Chapman is in some serious trouble in her life and that you as the viewer are going to learn all about it. Not only is this show entertaining right from the story, it is consistently leaving you wanting more. I am in all honesty glad that I didn’t start the show when it originally came out so that I could watch all 26 episodes in one sitting. This show is very addicting and never seems to keep you satisfied. Along with the plot, the pace of the episodes is something to compare. #OITNB sets a very good pace for themselves from episode to episode.
