1. What are the primary systems/forces/phenomena discussed in the video, and how are they interrelated? Two of the main forces discussed in this video are the forces of the Sun and how its heat affects the Earth, and the forces of Ice and how its cooling capacity affects the earth. The Sun, when shining on the oceans is the driving force of evaporation and creation of water vapor in the atmosphere which creates weather patterns and clouds which circulate based on the currents of the Oceans. The currents and levels of the oceans are affected by the ice sheets of Antarctica because of the salt brine that precipitates out of the freezing sea water and flows deep into ocean chasms. Both the hot sun and the cold ice work together to move water around the Earth, thus driving weather and climate throughout the planet. …show more content…
What are ways in which you see the influence of these phenomena in your life? Is it a unidirectional relationship, or do you also influence these systems? I am from the east coast, so many of the storm I see are transferred from the coast of Africa as a result of these systems. The storms begin in the warm waters off of Africa’s coast, and then follow the currents towards the Gulf of Mexico where these storms pick up even more warm water and intensify there. After that the Gulf Stream pulls the storm up the East coast which is when I feel its effects. The storm would not have formed in the way it did or move in the direction that it did without the various phenomena of Ice and Sun affecting
