Public Resource Analysis The main character in the book, Saving Bernice: Battered Women, Welfare, and Poverty, Bernice had been a victim of domestic violence from a very young age. Bernice grew up in a troubled home where neither of her parents set an example for Bernice or her siblings, which every good parent would want to set for their kids. In this analysis, the public resources available in Walla Walla, WA, will be connected to Bernice’s situation. This analysis will relate several situations in which Bernice could have used the resources from this town, and how she could have been helped. Although these institutions aim to help battered women, and their children, they offer many services but by no means are they perfect. Every institution has their strengths and their weaknesses, all of which will be exposed throughout this public resource analysis. In Walla Walla, there are five main sources of help for women who are going through the same horrid situations as Bernice. Some of these institutions offer similar services, but they are all different entities. One of the most important resources is the Domestic Violence Emergency Shelter Programs and Advocacy Services. This service is an only service that provides victims with the names of shelters in their area, some include the address, but they all include a phone number and a website where the victim may look up more information. Although this resource is not a physical service, the strength of this source is that it provides victims with a lot of information that can be useful for them when they are seeking help with their situations. The biggest weakness of this service is that it is an online service. This is a negative because not all victims have Internet access, or they may not be able to get to a place with Internet access. Another risk factor of this service for the victims who do have access to

Health Economics

...years due to the fact that we are facing a combination of unprecedented demand with the limitation of resources and the necessity of making decisions regarding priority setting in the healthcare system. Priority setting in healthcare means to determine what is most important in the context of finite resources as well as to decide who is going to benefit from a particular health care service as giving priority to one group of people inexorably implies taking it away from another one. (William, 1998). Nowadays, health care systems are facing the problem of how to set priorities in the allocation of health care resources in order to provide a high quality of care to those who need it and at a cost their governments can afford. All this happens in a time when people have greatest expectations concerning the care they should receive and the health care innovation offers broader options for interventions. (Littlejohns et al, 2012). In England the NHS has the obligation to provide a comprehensive and fair service for all and at the same time to promote an equal service ensuring that access is based on clinical need and not on the individual’s ability to pay. This aspires to the highest standard of excellence and supports individuals to promote and manage their own health. The NHS is committed to providing the best value for taxpayer’s money and is accountable to the public. (Department of Health, 2012). Apart from that, since April 2013 and as a...

...access scalable, high-powered computing services via broadband networks from a range of devices, all on-demand. Cloud computing has the potential to provide users with increased computing capability, greater efficiency, and lower energy and infrastructure costs. According to Kevin Jackson of Forbes.com he describes cloud computing as a metrics. According to Kevin Jackson the four sets of cloud computing economics are the number of unique customer sets, customer set duty cycles, relative duty cycle displacement and customer set load. These metrics reduce resources and creates more resource demand. According to Mr. Jackson of Forbes.com this “properly balancing these factors across a well characterized user group can lead to approximately 30-percent savings in IT resources, and enables the near real-time modification of the underlying physical infrastructure required for the delivery of the desired “illusion of infinite resources” synonymous with a cloud computing user’s experience.” Once implemented this economic model would reduce operation and maintenance costs of IT infrastructures. Cloud computing despite its cost effectiveness still poses a security concern among businesses wanting to implement the cloud. With a secure cloud model presented by Kevin Jackson there would be economic savings among...
