In this assessment I will show the ways of which the Public Services enforce methods to ensure diversity. P5- By Connor Littlewood.

Diversity Statement West Midlands Police Service- "'Diversity presents a challenge and an opportunity. It presents us with the challenge of making our service accessible and relevant to all the people in the West Midlands.
To achieve that goal we need to have the best possible understanding of what is wanted and required from our communities and we need to have the most knowledgeable and representative workforce to meet those needs.
Critical to this will be ensuring that the actual and perceived service received by each Diverse group and individual is of the same level. This is West Midland Police’s opportunity to design and deliver local policing with Equality and Diversity as the cornerstone of our vision'".

According to that statement diversity in the terms of equality is up to scratch however, statistics show otherwise.
In 2008, 25.2% of officers were female meaning that ¾ are men, further into detail ethnic minorities within in the English and Wales Police force clocked in at only 4.4%.
For the Fire service 3% were women and for Ethnic minorities.
The RAF contained about 1.8% ethnic minorities which means all together there ethnic minorities in the UK main public service sectors is 7.8%.
If we go by the statement by Chief Constable Simms, more has to be done.
Attitudes have changed dramatically since the Acts that govern our well being although females and ethnic minorities need to be encouraged but also that equal opportunities present themselves.
The Public Services have to deal with a range of diverse issues, although, building and maintaining diverse workforces is key.
Back in the 80's where diversity and equal opportunities had a hard time presenting themselves,

Tobin College of Business, St. John’s University, New York, New York, USA Abstract Purpose – This paper seeks to examine the ethical dilemmas that emerge when offering microfinance services in BOP markets. Design/methodology/approach – Utilizing the ethical lenses of deontology, teleology, virtue ethics and moral relativism, the paper builds on prior research on ethical issues in BOP markets and the ethics of microfinance to highlight the specific stakeholder impacts facing MFIs. Relevant literature and examples from practice are utilized to illustrate the different ethical perspectives. Findings – In general, many of the key dilemmas represent themselves in the extreme poverty segment of the BOP where commercial business models have the least traction. Research limitations/implications – Propositions are developed for the corrective actions in the paper which might allow future research to uncover differences in intervention success in different BOP markets.
