In the essay I will brief discus what service design is and how it relates to the other design lens. I will also speak about how important it is when implementing or introducing a new product and what the processes of service design is and the importance of it when it comes to providing a service or new product.
Service Design is the process of design a product that is useful and wanted by the consumer. In some case where there is a already existing service, service design helps to improve it and finds new ways o how to go about day to day activities of the product in other words bettering the service to please the consumer. The process includes the implemention of the product but also the end result what it expection of the consumer would …show more content…
I choose these source because of there incite to the topic of service design. The first source, the service concept speaks about the concept behind service design and how it would benefit the customer. The second source speaks about the involvement of designers in the product and service system. And finally my third source speaks about service design and experience of the service.
My first source helps define service design by speaking about the concept behind service design. In this source the speak about that with going the thou the process of service design you are not able to deliver a proper service, this process is start with the service strategy, inputs( this includes the people ,technology , equipment, etc), then the service delivery system is put in to play, then after this you will see what the outputs are (for example what the service outcomes are and what the experience was like) then the performance of the product comes after then it start all over …show more content…
In the case study I read on the New Ritz Hotels in the article called Service Design: An Appraisal, it talks about how the hotel wanted to step away from the big corporate styled hotel, but a more interpersonal style and wanted to have a local feel to their hotel. Design thinking and Service Design is need in an instance like this as it helps the hotel understand their clients better. The hotel started by making certain areas smaller to make it more social and retrained their staff so that they could understand body language thus making their service better and also to know how to please their clients.
