During my bachelor’s telecommunication engineering, each semester I was delighted to embark on subjects amalgamating engineering with diverse physical sciences. Engineering Economics, Mathematical Modeling, Antenna and Propagation, Entrepreneurship Managing are such examples that taught me of engineering being an intellectual understanding of social needs rather than a rigorous exercise of scary mathematics. My viewpoint of engineering further revolutionized while working in the editorial team of my university’s annual magazine, Synergy.

I did my final year project on FPGA based implementation of TF-RDLMS FIR filter using VHDL. It was the same year when I took over as Editor-in-Chief of Synergy.
The worth of management in both challenging and noncompetitive milieus was the most valuable implication I learnt that year.

During my apprenticeships at SIEMENS, Islamabad and Commissioner’s Office, Rawalpindi I realized that no matter what discipline of life one follows, one’s practices can’t remain isolated. Troubleshooting a fault in networking or coordinating hierarchical communication in an office, I found I was congruently dealing with technology and management. These experiences provided me the opportunity to rethink of my future ambitions. I was tempted to experiment.

Combining Engineering and Management in one degree, there couldn’t have been a more innovative and exciting deal. I went through the proposed curriculum of Engineering Systems and whereas I was pleased with its balanced content, I also understood that it would be exigent learning real-time management processes for delivering engineering work. I strongly deem that this is the best option for me to pursue in graduate study.

Motivations which push aspirations into novel practices are far beyond clichéd quotations. One’s niche in the convoluted world of commotion has to be earned assertively and for that, I believe life needs to be challenged, interfered and experimented. This uncovers its true spirit. Studying in an environment of brains representing multiple ethnicities would require extra painstaking competition.

Opening up vistas of diversification from present trends is the way to future. I believe an MS in Systems Engineering from University of Texas, Arlington is one such way. I’d be glad to be a UTA alumnus.

Grad Admissions

...It should come as no surprise that most applicants do not enjoy drafting their graduate admissions essay. Writing a statement that tells a graduate admissions committee all about you and can potentially make or break your application is stressful. Take a different perspective, however, and you will find that your admissions essay is what ensures that you match up with a graduate program that will offer you the training you need for the career you desire. Let's take a closer look at the graduate admissions essay. What is its Purpose? Your graduate school application provides the admissions committee with a great deal of information about you that cannot be found elsewhere in your graduate application. The other parts of your graduate school application tell the admissions committee about your grades (i.e., transcript), your academic promise (i.e., GRE scores), and what your professors think of you (i.e., recommendation letters). Despite all of this information, the admissions committee does not learn much about you as an individual. What are your goals? Why are you applying to graduate school? With so many applicants and so few slots it's critical that graduate admissions committees learn as much as possible about applicants so as to ensure that they choose students who best fit their program and are most likely to succeed and complete a graduate degree. Your admissions essay explains who you are, your goals, and the ways in which you match the graduate program to which you...

Statement of Purpose

...Sample Statement of Purpose: MBA The term “globalism” has become overused, and often misused. In fact, we might say that it has actually been devalued to the level of the everyday language of buzzword-brandishing marketing pundits. Such freewheeling usage has perhaps prompted many a CEO (or future CEO) to launch into a global plan or strategy without proper consideration of the demands and dynamics of the international marketplace. Many would-be globetrotters neglect the acquisition of language skills, knowledge of foreign trade and tax laws, accounting standards, etc., all of which are necessary to effectively “go global.” Superficial knowledge only leads to failure. This has, indeed, happened, and while there is no doubt that neglecting to capture the gains achievable in overseas markets is equally suicidal, misguided attempts at competing globally (along with rapidly developing opportunities in the global marketplace) have placed a dramatic premium on individuals who take the time to properly train themselves in international business. For me, the Columbia MBA is a significant component of this training. I foresee my own career moving in the direction of European/American business, initially from an advisory perspective (i.e. investment banking or consulting) and ultimately from a leadership role within a manufacturing entity, preferably a start-up venture. This prophecy, in part, has evolved from my past experiences in western and eastern Europe which, in turn, have formed...

Statement of Purpose

...Department of Journalism and Mass Communications Name of applicant: Mr. John Smith Statement of Purpose I have chosen to apply to the department of journalism at Kent State University, because I wish to accomplish what has long been my dream - become a fully-fledged journalist. Here is what led me to this aspiration. All my achievements so far have been driven by example. Back at high school I admired my Physics teacher, who was an exceptional person. He turned every class into a spectacular event with a mesmerizing scenario. Outside school, I revered my tennis instructor, whose tutoring in no way limited itself to game practice but was instilling a handier skill - the skill of living. Although I devoted a large share of my time to sports and eventually studied to be a teacher of Physical Education, I felt my academic background would be incomplete without devoting more time to mind after spending several years training the body. Yet, long before that I was fascinated by Vladimir Pozner, the journalist who then hosted the so-called "TV bridges" with the United States. Ever since then he has dominated the Russian TV-scape. I marveled at the mastery that he demonstrated leading the discussion and ease, with which he switched from Russian into English and back. This was the first time when I became interested in learning the language and started to fantasize about a career in journalism. However, the death of my parents and subsequent illness of my grandmother kept me...

Statement of Purpose

...STATEMENT OF PURPOSE I could not escape the influence of my surroundings as it gradually dawned on me that I was destined to be part of the business and economics world. Seeing my father as a successful business owner with real estate portfolios had a decisive impact on my life. He introduced me to a world of finance, accounting and banks through his business and helped me to develop constructively. I realized that understanding the interplay of business and related aspects of economics can be critical. Russia experienced a financial crisis in the year 1998, where there was a total collapse of the banking system declaring bankruptcy, devaluation of the currency. Businesses of many families suffered, including mine. As a result there was a strong necessity for a stable economic market. The common theory of how the legal framework exacerbate the crisis and why financial regulations which failed to execute did not put the right checks and balances failed to convince me. Behind these events lay a principle that, in turn, fueled and increased my interest in economics and reinforced my conviction to pursue a degree in management. During my undergraduate program I gained significant understanding of micro and macroeconomics, global financial systems and market structures. I became proficient in credit management, banking systems, monetary and economic policies. My ongoing interest further led me to work on several projects such as analyzing the relationship between market structures...
