Learning and being inspired

When I entered highschool I was coming out of a difficult time in middle school, I was having trouble with my school work and did not enjoy it at all. So my school recommended that I be placed in the essentials program in high school. After two months of being in this program, I found it too easy. So I decided to make some changes, Through this decision I learned a very important lesson that I think I will hold on too and remember for the rest of my life. This lesson taught me that to get things done you need to take action and not rely on anyone else to do it for you.

With my Guidance counselor we made a plan that would span the entirety of my academic career in high school, between grade 9 and 12. In this plan I would be upgrading about one program per year until I have all my main subjects at college level. I started to follow this plan but found that I would be wasting so much time doing nothing when I could be upgrading more courses. So I took action, I went out of the plan that was laid out for me and started upgrading more and more courses. Instead of wasting anymore time ever semester I was slowly working my way up to doing what I want to do. …show more content…
Although I did not enjoy this I am really happy I did it because that same year I took grade 11 mixed functions. It was interesting how it was so much different it was than what I was use to. It has a faster pace, harder work. I managed to pull through. Although it did not end up being my strength it was a experience that gave me work ethic that I did not have before. This gave a big boost to my overall marks. In return I also felt accomplished when seeing the marks infront of

The Importance Of Pursuing A Career In High School

...It’s necessary to point out that for my next 2 years here at the Mount, I will have to take 18 credits every semester. I will have a lot of responsibilities along with that because I also have to begin my Honors Project. Academically, I will have a lot on my plate, but I know that time management is one of my greatest assets. In high school, I took a total of 13 AP classes and ended up with a total of 26 credits before even starting my college career. I had to manage my time very efficiently in high school. I had to make sure I kept up with my grades, kept up with my social life, and that I could take care of my little brother and our home while our parents were working. All the struggles in high school forced me to become very efficient and...

While particular subject areas within the school are getting redesigned, such as math classrooms, science labs, and the athletics stadium, other courses are either not getting touched or getting cut completely from the school campus. Unfortunately, child development is one of those programs getting cut. The child development building itself will no longer exist as a preschool for the local community or as a learning facility for high school students who seek experience in an education career field. System Administrator

...Career Choice: Network and Computer Systems Administrator Business and Writing for the IT Professional July 26, 2009 Abstract A network and systems administrator is responsible for network security, installing new applications, implementing software updates, monitoring the integrity of the system, developing management programs, and performing routine backups. As has been noted throughout my research, there has been a decline in technology majors throughout the past couple of years, thus affecting the job market. The survey that was conducted on high school seniors, as well as research done by some universities, has proven that lack of information and interest affects this type of career choice. By properly informing potential technology students and offering them resources, we can better equip our future system and network administrators to perform to their potential. Topic Proposal Author Background An interest in computers came to my attention shortly after graduating from high school. I first involved myself in working with cameras and fixing them for several customers. The satisfying knowledge that I gained came from realizing that I could take apart, fix a piece of technology and do it well. Computers as a hobby came only after my brother gave me one to fix and keep for my use. Although I was daunted at first, I took apart and drew diagrams, to remember where the components where located. I had no previous experience from computers that I had learned...

...Educational return on Investment Many high school graduates as well as adults in the workforce today have many decisions to make about the need to continue their education. Since the unemployment rate for both educated as well as uneducated personnel has realized little decline, students struggle to find a balance between the value of continuing education and the cost associated with it. There are two conflicting arguments concerning educational return on investment; both sides over the presence or absence of a bachelor’s degree sides offer valid claims. It can be argued that a person’s success is not determined by merely obtaining a bachelor’s degree. A person will have to determine the definition of success as it relates to them. Some of the attributes that contribute to success are personal such as drive, determination, and creativity. There are many successful entrepreneurs who did not have a bachelor’s degree. Andrew Carnegie, famous industrialist and philanthropist, known for the Carnegie Institute of Technology and building 300 public libraries was a high school dropout. Coco Chanel, founder of the brand Chanel and Chanel No. 5 perfume does not have a college degree. Andrew Jackson became President of the United States at age 35 without a formal education. Dave Thomas, billionaire founder of Wendy’s dropped out of high school at age 15 (Toren, 2011). A good teacher must have flexibility in lessons or activities creation to facilitate effective classroom. Since being around children brings much satisfaction, I would appreciate the job and enjoy working as a teacher, especially in an unstructured setting. Additionally, my enthusiasm for molding young children with a warm and loving learning surrounding will bring success in the career. Why College Is Important to Me

...important to me is that I want to be a role model for my two daughters. Secondly, furthering my education can mean a many great opportunities for advancing in my career and in life. Leading or setting the example for my daughters is very important to me. By actively portraying to my daughters the importance of having a college education after high school, they will engage into participating in a plethora of new opportunities in their own lives which will enhance their way of living. They see how hard I study and how important my grades are to me that it encourages them to do the same in their high school studies now. They actively partake in my studies now, which in turn, results in them asking me questions on what I am studying. Having them involved is having them engaged in their own thought processes. If I have done that for them then I feel like I am doing my job as a Mother. I encourage them to follow in my footsteps so that they can have a better life for themselves. The second reason college is so important to me is the fact it will change my way of life. Studies show that a college education leads to better paying careers and/or advancements in a career. ...| The High Costs of Medical Education Impacting Future Physicians | Module 5 Essay | | | 3/9/2014 | Jacquelyn Q | Summary Thousands of recent college graduates with medical educational loans to pay off are putting their plans for better lives on hold. Medical education tuition and medical student debt have increased dramatically during the past two decades, even though loans and grants are available on conditional terms, students continue to find it impossible to receive a medical education. As an investment, medical education is an excellent choice; its net present value is more than a million dollars. Cost is nevertheless a strong deterrent to potential physicians, such as myself. If tuition and indebtedness continue to increase while physician incomes does not, medical schools may have increasing difficulty recruiting qualified medical students. If tuition continues its rapid increase, potential physicians may find it extremely difficult to repay their medical school debts, and some students may be deterred from attempting a career in medicine. These decisions could have a devastating impact on our health care system. Recent increases in medical education tuition and high levels of indebtedness among graduates are matters of concern to me. Although concern about rapidly increasing costs is seen throughout higher education, the situation in medicine appear especially troubling in view of the much higher levels of indebtedness and the lengthy...
