...Computer Systems Administrator Business and Writing for the IT Professional July 26, 2009 Abstract A network and systems administrator is responsible for network security, installing new applications, implementing software updates, monitoring the integrity of the system, developing management programs, and performing routine backups. As has been noted throughout my research, there has been a decline in technology majors throughout the past couple of years, thus affecting the job market. The survey that was conducted on high school seniors, as well as research done by some universities, has proven that lack of information and interest affects this type of career choice. By properly informing potential technology students and offering them resources, we can better equip our future system and network administrators to perform to their potential. Topic Proposal Author Background An interest in computers came to my attention shortly after graduating from high school. I first involved myself in working with cameras and fixing them for several customers. The satisfying knowledge that I gained came from realizing that I could take apart, fix a piece of technology and do it well. Computers as a hobby came only after my brother gave me one to fix and keep for my use. Although I was daunted at first, I took apart and drew diagrams, to remember where the components where located. I had no previous experience from computers that I had learned at my high school, so I used the...

...Tenure and Termination Grand Canyon University: EDA 555 June 4, 2013 The greatest resource we have is our children. Parents entrust teachers to do educate and enrich children’s lives and to do so in a caring, safe, and to do so in a professional manner. There have been situations where sometimes the role of a teacher is misrepresented or compromised. These situations are sometimes not real, or they are a result of lies or hear say, but at other times they turn out to be true. Our society has taken measures to protect our children from being abused by adults. At the same time our society has also taken measures to protect teachers from certain injustices or false accusations. Many states have set in place tenure policies to protect competent teachers from malicious accusations but when do we draw the line? The law at times is not a well-defined contrast of black and white, and at times people need to decide on a shade of gray. Tenure is a form of job security that teachers earn after they reach a certain level of professionalism (Scott, 1986). When a teacher has earned tenure, they have the right to a continual teaching contract as long as they abide by the guidelines set forth in their contracts. It is believed that students benefit more from the experience and ability of a continuing contract teacher. Some of the protections that are extended to a tenured teacher are that they cannot be discriminated against based on their personal views, personality conflicts...

I really like this career because on the present day computer networks are some of the strongest links on every company and the computer system administrators are responsible for the day to day operation of these networks. “In some cases, administrators help network architects design and analyze network models. They also participate in decisions about buying future hardware or software to upgrade their organization’s network. Some administrators provide technical support to computer users, and...

...wishing to implement systematic change have a clear vision, direction, and a process for this change to take place. When effective leaders exert positive influence on their schools, student success, as measured by various outcomes, rises accordingly (Elmore & Burney, 1997). Change, lead by effective leaders, is inevitable and important for growth in organizations and without change stagnation occurs. Currently, at the school where I teach, I have the opportunity to work under two administrative leaders that are effective and compliment each other. I will refer to these leaders as Administrator One and Administrator Two when describing their experience, training and background both before leading my school and while leading my school. Both of the leaders at my school operate under the mantra that a great school is built off of three key ingredients. These ingredients are relationships, communication, and problem solving. All three of these ingredients are important parts to systematic change. Administrator One is the relationship builder and problem solver within the school. He has been in education for a total of twenty two years. The first eleven years of his career he was a high school Science teacher and football coach. The last eleven years he has been the principal of two different schools....

...My interest in healthcare develops from my desire to address real world issues that affect the quality and availability of healthcare to our communities. In December, I will earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health from California Baptist University, which helped establish my understanding of the role of a healthcare administrator, and their need to implement policies to assist with the improvement of healthcare delivery systems. ...My Pursuit of Knowledge in Information Technology Management I am currently in the Master’s program pursuing a degree in Business Information with a concentration in Information Technology Management. As a University of Phoenix Alumni, I received both my Associates and Bachelor degrees in Information Technology due to my love of computers and the rapid growth of information management. I remember back when graduating from high school, in 1984, computer rooms threw around terms like FORTRAN, COBOL, UNIX, and MS-DOS. The departments worked separately to themselves as if in some elite cult, with high regard to the work they performed and no cross interactions or exchange of knowledge to the other departments. Today, information technology is so much more. Information Technology Managers interact freely and effortlessly with other departments to insure that the most important aspect of the business, its data resources, are secure, accessible, and relevant to the needs of the organizations. Managing this information is what drives my passion for technology. I have had the opportunity to intern within several Information Technology positions and database management appeals to my inner core. I like the idea of being able to leverage the data and knowledge that flows within an organization in order to increase the value of that organization for the benefit of the consumer or the community in which it operates and create increased value within the organization. My personality...

He stated on the record that even if the claimant had been pursuing this career she would not have completed it by the time she was 25 years old. ...classrooms to their teaching teams, schools, and districts. In every good school, there are teachers whose vision extends beyond their own classrooms—even beyond their own teams or departments. Such teachers recognize that students' school experiences depend not only on interaction with individual teachers, but also on the complex systems in place throughout the school and district. This awareness prompts these teachers to want to influence change. They experience professional restlessness—what some have called the “leadership itch.” Sometimes on their own initiative and sometimes within a more formal structure, these professionals find a variety of ways to exercise teacher leadership. Why Teacher Leadership? Today more than ever, a number of interconnected factors argue for the necessity of teacher leadership in schools. Teaching is a flat profession. In most professions, as the practitioner gains experience, he or she has the opportunity to exercise greater responsibility and assume more significant challenges. This is not true of teaching. The 20-year veteran's responsibilities are essentially the same as those of the newly licensed novice. In many settings, the only way for a teacher to extend his or her influence is to become an administrator. Many teachers recognize that this is not the right avenue for them. The job of an administrator entails work that does not interest them, but they still have the urge to exercise wider influence in their schools and in the profession. This...

...New To Health Care Crystal Crawford University Of Phoenix HCS/212-Health Care Vocabulary JoAnn Dade May 4, 2013 New To Health Care In healthcare there has always been interesting things that have changed the face of healthcare today. These changes need to be understood in order to know how healthcare got started and why it continues to be a growing concern for individuals in the United States. Before 1920 most people had no healthcare coverage (U.S. Healthcare History, 2013). Before this time doctors were not charging much for their services. However, as time progressed doctors stated to learned more about diseases and treatments and with this progression they started charging more for the services rendered. These new charging were often more than people could afford at the time. Doctors found that they needed to treated more people in hospitals in order to take advantage of the new technology which added to the cost of care for these individuals. The Great Depression only made the cost of these treatments worse for patients. In the 1930s Blue Cross was born to help people pay their hospital bills ("Stay smart, stay healthy," 2013). The healthcare industry offers plenty of profitable careers. Most of the best paid and fast growing careers belong to the healthcare...

...Who am I? In some way this question surfaces throughout the life--birth, school milestones, marriage, work opportunities, mid-life crisis, career changes, and yes, embarking upon collegate education. The answer comes quickly and easily when engaged in everyday conversation, for I describe the roles I fill, such as wife, mother, daughter, sister, church board member, educational administrator, committee chair, friend, boss, volunteer, and student. But honestly answering the question, "Who am I?" requires that I examine the personality and qualities of character that accompany me as I fulfill each of the roles in my life. Who is Keith Stabi, the person? Let me introduce you. I am • A perfectionist who is thorough and attentive to detail. • An introvert who enjoys close relationships with others, either one on one relationships or small groups, but who also needs time alone to regroup. • An unassuming person who is easy to have around over the long haul. • A predictable, dependable, level-headed individual. There are usually no surprises from me, and though I am not rigidly organized, I usually plan my "spontaneity." • A kind, considerate, and courteous friend to all. • A supportive and loyal friend. • An understanding, warm, approachable individual. • An open-minded seeker of truth. I encourage myself to not insist on being "right," at the expense of interpersonal relationships. • A positive person with an internal locus of control. I like the motto, "We are creatures...

...spring of 2012 will ultimately be my 5th semester I have spent taking courses at TCC. My degree plan is far from anything but normal, but I am aware of what I need to take, and I have been planning it in a manor that seems to work for me. I am specifically attending for an AAS in Information Systems Technology. This is a field in which I have already been working in for nearly 12 years. I guess I am good at doing things backwards. There are people in this world who are fortunate enough that they made it through high school and had financial backing, or the desire to attend 4 years of college and they make it through in a breeze. I am not one of those people. I’m not sure if I just like to make things as hard for myself as I possibly can, but I would not trade one experience I have ever had for anything different. College is something I have been doing as I can, and as tough as it is sometimes I seem to be making it just fine the unorthodox way. The school formula I have kind of developed for myself has been the same for 2 semesters and most likely will be until I graduate at the end of the spring semester in 2013. Every semester I will sign up for 3 classes, two lectures one online or hybrid class. One particular reason I can’t say exactly which classes they will be is because of availability. I am taking some technical classes at the ACT building in Virginia Beach that unfortunately not every class is offered every semester in a night class time format I will be able...
