Class Wall Sample Bio

Hello classmates! My name is Mary. I have attempted to finish my bachelor’s degree for nearly 10 years. I attended a few community colleges and one online school, but something always prevented me from finishing. I like learning new things, but I never seem to have enough time to get the assignments done or something has always come up in my personal or professional life. I currently work as a customer service representative for a large call center. I have worked all kinds of jobs from retail centers to restaurants to office jobs. I like my current job because I stay busy and I get to help people. I solve complicated problems for people over the phone and by the time I’m done, they are happy most of the time. The thing I don’t like about my job is that I cannot advance unless I have a bachelor’s degree. I would like to interview for a management position, but I can’t and that is frustrating. I have trained a lot of people only to have them move up and become my boss. I have the experience, but I need the education too.

I live just outside of Atlanta, but I grew up in Florida. In my spare time, I like to spend time with my two kids (a 12-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl), hang out with friends, and volunteer with my church. We like to play sports and I spend a lot of time taking my kids to games and practices. I want to be a good role model for my kids and seeing me go back to school will hopefully keep them motivated to do well in school and go to college while they are young.

I am obtaining this degree because I want to be promoted at work and it has been a personal goal of mine since I graduated from high school. I decided to attend Grand Canyon University because I want to go to school online and I like that GCU has a Christian emphasis. I hope to explore Christianity and its relevance in today’s world as I mentor young
