A1. Viability of Product or Service
A local business named K9 College is well known in the community for providing expert dog training. Customers can choose to participate in training that ranges from basic obedience to complicated areas such as training assistance animals for the handicapped. The most popular training option available to customers is agility training, a sport in which dogs are trained to compete on an obstacle course and points are awarded for time and accuracy. K9 College has always provided a limited product line. Dog toys, leashes, and grooming supplies are available for purchase in the training facility, but with the increasing popularity of agility training dog owners are asking to purchase the obstacles for practice at home in preparation for agility events. K9 College has started to stock a small inventory of obstacles that can be purchased at the training facility. Dog agility events are increasing in popularity nationwide and K9 College participates in events held in many different venues across the country. Because of their training background, K9 College is invited to present workshops during events to help beginners learn the basics of the sport and give experienced participants an opportunity to hone their skills. With this increasing exposure, K9 College is seeing a steady increase in the amount of traffic visiting their website and Facebook page. The most common questions posted by visitors are related to purchasing agility obstacles for personal practice.
K9 College has determined that a stronger online presence is necessary to meet the increased demand that nationwide exposure will bring to the business. The products available for sale at the facility are purchased wholesale and sold for a reasonable profit margin.

The inn is a reconstruction of a historic mansion and embodies the traditional charm and hospitality of a bygone era. The company operates as an independent partner with TITP and benefits from tourism, weddings and other special events held at the park. While there are several bed & breakfasts and boutique inns within Salt Lake City, none can boast a finer location than the Canard House. The inn provides a unique historical setting in a prime location within close proximity to events, dining and transportation. It has unobstructed views of both the Salt Lake Valley and Wasatch mountain range, and is situated in a 450 acre preserve surrounded by picturesque and historic structures. Currently, all advertising has been done by the in-house marketing department. Mr. Werner explains that he grew up showing quarter horses as a child in Nebraska, and he was able to use his knowledge and skill later in life to turn it into a profession. After suffering a pelvic fracture in a fall in 1985 resulting in pain when riding, his moved his focus to the halter-training arena. (G. M. Werner, personal communication, January 11, 2014) The business of Werner Quarter Horses has several components. The first and most visible component of the business is the fitting and training halter horses for world-class American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) shows around the country. This involves all of the care for the horse, including feeding, bedding, grooming, exercising, and training of the horse, as well as showing the horse for customers at shows. Collecting a monthly boarding/training fee and showing fees produce the income for this component. (G. M. Werner, personal communication, January 11, 2014) The second component is the area of breeding, both the actual breeding of mares to produce foals for sale and also the sale of semen in the form of stallion fees.
