Queen Elizabeth I was born in Greenwich, England on September 7, 1533. She was the daughter of then King Henry XIII and Anne Boleyn, King Henry’s second wife. At two years old, Elizabeth’s mother, Anne, was killed, leaving her with her father, older half-sister Mary, and younger half-brother Edward. Like any other royal child, Elizabeth had a great upbringing. While she did receive some tutoring, she was outstanding in music and languages.
In 1547 Anne’s father, King Henry XIII, passed away. Upon King Henry XIII’s death, Edward succeeded the throne. Henry’s death left Elizabeth in the hands of his wife, her stepmother Catherine Parr.
