...The K to 12 Program covers Kindergarten and 12 years of basic education. Six years of primary education, four years of Junior High School, and two years of Senior High School (SHS) to provide sufficient time for mastery of concepts and skills, develop lifelong learners. In 2011, the Department of Education started to implement the new K-12 educational system, which also included a new curriculum for all schools nationwide. The K-12 program has a so-called "phased implementation", which started in school year 2011-2012. According to the DepEd Sec. Armin Luistro said that there is no stopping the implementation of the K to 12 Program, particularly Senior High School (SHS) Program which will be implemented nationwide starting school year 2016-2017. The President lauded the DepEd and its partners for the continued implementation of the K to 12 Program. The Republic Act 10533 or the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013 also known as the “K to 12 Law” which was signed by Aquino in May 2013. The summit was attended by teachers, school heads, students, parents, local government units (LGUs), and representatives from the private sector with other stakeholders. Department of Education maintained that it is not giving President Benigno Aquino III wrong information on the government’s readiness to implement the K to 12 program, contrary to claims made by a senator. In a statement Communication Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said that “The K to 12 program is important for the country’s...

...1. Assessment should be relevant. Assessment needs to provide information about students’ knowledge, skills and understandings of the learning outcomes specified in the NSW syllabus documents. That is, it needs to be directly linked to the syllabus standards. Syllabus standards are defined at: https://www.det.nsw.edu.au/policies/ curriculum/schools/curric_plan/ policystandards161006.pdf 2. Assessment should be appropriate. Assessment needs to provide nformation about the particular kind of learning in which we are interested. This means that we need to use a variety of assessment methods because not all methods are capable of providing information about all kinds of learning. For example, some kinds of learning are best assessed by observing students; some by having students complete projects or make products and others by having students complete paper and pen tasks. Reportingto parentsAssessmentLearning For of© State of New South Wales through the NSW Department of Education and Training, 2008 3 Assessment principlesare not influenced by the choice of a specific assessment task). Assessment also needs to be objective so that if a second person assesses a student’s work, they will come to the same conclusion as the first person.Assessment will be fair to all students if it is based on reliable, accurate and defensible measures.5. Assessment should provide useful information. The focus of assessment is to establish where students are in their learning. This information...

(CHIKA) Ever since the introduction of the internet it has rapidly grown into popularity up to the point where majority of us cannot go a day or two without having some form of interaction with it, and as the years go by it has been found that children often times use the internet more than us adults. Using the internet can be a very wonderful and exciting experience for children, it can help them conduct research for things that they might be interested in, reports for school, also for communication purposes as seen today by social media. But too much of a good thing is bad for you. Studies have been conducted to show how much children use the internet for the estimates that were taken before and after the survey show that the internet usage rate can vary from as high as seven hours to as low as three hours. These findings raised some questions about a child’s internet use. ...Key Issues for Discussion 1. From a strategic management standpoint, why do you think that corporate management at Alcoa delayed taking action for five years at the plant continued to lose money and deteriorate in other operational measures? I think a lot of key things might have played a role with this decision. Corporate management wanted to see what could be done and introduced new management to the plant. There were a lot of issues to be resolved such as high rates of serious injuries, poor quality control, inadequate leadership, and low morale. It would take time to implement change and establish a new organizational culture in order to turn the company around. I think they wanted to give the new management a chance to see what could be done, which would require a lot of patience. Slowly but surely, the plant would start to reduce injuries, improve morale, cut costs, and the new leadership model would begin to have full effect. Once there was success, that’s when corporate management could decide what would be done with the plant and chose whether it should continue to operate and maintain that level of success, or close down and liquidate everything. 2. What type of leadership style did Simonic seem to follow? Does it fit any of the leadership theories that were developed in the chapter? think Simonic followed the Transformational Leadership style. He had a lot of charismatic characteristics and was inspirational. Other management even said that he had a dynamic...
