IS4560 Unit 3 Assignment 1 Information Gathering Plan The explosive growth and popularity of the world-wide web have resulted in thousands of structured query able information sources on the Internet, and the promise of unprecedented information-gathering capabilities to lay users. Unfortunately, the promise has not yet been transformed into reality. While there are sources relevant to virtually any user-queries, the morass of sources presents a formidable hurdle to effectively accessing the information. One way of alleviating this problem is to develop a information gatherer which take the user’s query, and develop and execute an effective information gathering plan that accesses the relevant sources to answer the user’s query efficiently. Most organizations are familiar with Penetration Testing (often abbreviated to, “pen testing”) and other ethical hacking techniques as a means to understanding the current security status of their information system assets. Consequently, much of the focus of research, discussion, and practice, has traditionally been placed upon active probing and exploitation of security vulnerabilities. Since this type of active probing involves interacting with the target, it is often easily identifiable with the analysis of firewall and intrusion detection/prevention device (IDS or IPS) log files.
However, too many organizations fail to identify the potential threats from information unintentionally leaked, freely available over the Internet, and not normally identifiable from standard log file analysis. Most critically, an attacker can passively gather this information without ever coming into direct contact with the organizations servers – thus being essentially undetectable. Very little information has been publicly discussed about arguably one of the least understood, and most significant stages of penetration testing – the

...I. Executive Summary Our project contains a detailed and comprehensive financial analysis of two companies in the banking industry. A main goal of our work was to accurately compare these two companies in a variety of ways and determine which company would be better to invest in. Barclays is a British based company that operates under the International Accounting Standards (IAS) while the U.S. based Bank of America operates under U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). We examined the effects these different standards had on the two companies. We then gathered information from Barclays and Bank of America’s consolidated financial statements and used this information to calculate various ratios needed for analyzing the two companies. In addition, we compared similarities and differences between Barclays and Bank of America in relation to how they disclose and deal with various accounting and reporting issues. These issues include disclosure of employee information, disclosure of foreign operations, the valuation and disclosure of intangible assets, and numerous others. We also took the foreign currency exchange rates into account and examined the impact it had on Barclays as well as Bank of America. II. History Both Barclays and Bank of America have a history of great service, and being one of the premier banks of England and the United States respectively. It is impressive that Bank of America can be looked at as the equivalent of Barclays when it...

...Electronic Devices Can Be an Educational Curse or Blessing I thought I had seen everything after watching middle school kids text-messaging during the funeral of one of my high school students. Then, our school had its first play in three years. Throughout the audience, parents' faces were aglow as they text-messaged throughout their children's performances. Mostly, I was a bear about electronic devices in class. Even during the worst of our school's gang-related violence, my students kept their cell phones out of sight and usually out of mind. Periodically, though, we would be working and I would see several students start to sneak a peak at their phones. Then we would hear shouting in classrooms and the halls and there would be a stampede of students, including mine, to a fight. I also saw the same thing in the gym. I would be playing ball with my students during my planning period and, all of a sudden, students from across the school and adults from the neighborhood would rush towards a brawl. Had our school been able to prevent abuses of the new technology, I believe, another of my former students would be alive today. On the other hand, when students needed to take a call during class, they knew I would not question their word. If a student asked to step outside to answer their phone, my response was "of course." If a kid made simple eye contact and pointed to a phone, I would just nod, and the student would handle business and then return to work. One year, I had such...

...A test or examination is an assessment intended to measure a test-taker's knowledge, skill, aptitude, physical fitness, or classification in many other topics (e.g., beliefs). A test may be administered orally, on paper, on a computer, or in a confined area that requires a test taker to physically perform a set of skills. Tests vary in style, rigor and requirements. For example, in a closed book test, a test taker is often required to rely upon memory to respond to specific items whereas in an open book test, a test taker may use one or more supplementary tools such as a reference book or calculator when responding to an item. A test may be administered formally or informally. An example of an informal test would be a reading test administered by a parent to a child. An example of a formal test would be a final examination administered by a teacher in a classroom or an I.Q. test administered by a psychologist in a clinic. Formal testing often results in a grade or a test score.[1] A test score may be interpreted with regards to a norm or criterion, or occasionally both. The norm may be established independently, or by statisticalanalysis of a large number of participants. A standardized test is any test that is administered and scored in a consistent manner to ensure legal defensibility.[2]Standardized tests are often used in education, professional certification, psychology (e.g., MMPI), the military, and many other fields. A non-standardized test is usually flexible in scope...
