Club IT Rhoda Smith Business Information System XBIS/219 February 9, 2013 Michael Scott

Club IT mission statement is to offer live music, A DJ’s, dance floor, and refreshments that suit individual lifestyle, and to build a community that individual can meet regularly. Club IT clientele is anyone over the age of eighteen who enjoy dancing and meeting other individuals. Club IT intranet site provides their customer the ability to have access to the club upcoming functions, eating menu, the staff, merchandise and the club staff such as new hires, and the employee of the month. The functional information system provides tools that can help manage and organize businesses. The information system specific functional areas are production, marketing, finance, personnel and accounting. Each of these functions requires application to perform well in each particular area. The financial information system will give Lisa and Reuben the ability to manage the process of the business financial functions such as availability and cost, budgeting for present and future cost. It will also give them the leading edge of handling multiple currencies, investment management and the ability to close their books on a short notice. The marketing function will give them the ability to market different function the club is offering by setting pricing according to their customer profile base. It will also give them the competitive advantage of customer relation, and sale force automation. The production manufacturing function provide them with the ability to make decision on product and quality control and inventory management. The Human Resources system gives them the ability with staffing, training and development, performance evaluation and ethical laws of running a business. The accounting function will help with payroll, account receivable, and audit budgeting. (Rainer JR & Turban, "Chapter 8, Functional Area Information Systems," 2009). With any business in order to survive you must have a competitive advantage over other competitors. Some of the advantage of having information systems is by helping business owners increase their performance and productivity According to Porter a competitive strategy is a statement that identifies business strategies to compete its goals and the plan and policies that will be required to carry out those goals. Through its competitive strategy an organization seeks a competitive advantage. ("Chapter 2,Competitive Advantage and Strategic"). In the night club industry club owners are trying to outdo one another in customer relation. The benefits of resources planning give business owner the competitive feature that will allow them to operation their business more efficient. The cost of an ERP system will reduce operational cost, it will improve work efficiency by greatly reducing paper and online data storage. Information storage is easy and can be done in real time. ("What Are the 5 Benefits of Resource Planning", 2012). The night club industry is very competitive industries not only are you competing with other larger night clubs you are also competing with small taverns and bars. Night club owner have to be concern with their competitors. According to Bars & Nightclubs in the US (2012), “this industry usually only service the consumer needs of the domestic market and has a low level of foreign ownership”. (Competitive Landscape). I believe in order for a night club industry to be successful is to have a loyal customer base. Lisa and Reuben mission statement is to create a fun atmosphere for the community they serve. Having an up- to- date technology system will give them that advantage because they will be able to make sure their business is running smoothly at a low cost. Most night club offers the same venue when, I was younger the clubs in the area offer the same kind of atmosphere, and for no particular reason either one of the club would have a very good season, or the other one would not. When the one club was doing poorly they were not able to meet their overhead, causing the owner of one of the clubs to go out of business. The owner of one of the club start catering to a younger clientele, and because of this the club has turned around because of a loyal customer base. In order to stay in business you must have a loyal customer base, to ensure a high level of regular customer, keep cost under control, the ability to keep stock on hand at a low cost. Not only with will a new technology system give Lisa and Reuben the ability to operate more efficient it will also help them with communicating upcoming events with their current clientele and advertising at a cheap cost to get new customers to visit their club.

...Introduction: This paper is a Service Review for Mr Jo Smith, who has been reluctant to engage with his support network agency. Due to his reluctances i.e. resistance, engagement was crucial in initiating a review of the support Mr Smith was currently receiving. Recently, Mr Smith agreed to meet with the two support workers, Rae Mondi & Ena Shebelle, to begin the process of reviewing his support plan. Herein, is the report of that meeting. Initial Engagement for a Revised Service Plan Ena Shebelle and I, Rae Mondi, visited Mr Smith at his home. The realisation that Mr Smith had afforded us this opportunity moved us to inform him that, as part of his support network, the agency would like to review his current Service Plan in order to make improvements. We informed Mr Smith that although we have initiated this process we are required to seek and gain his permission to conduct this process. Mr Smith was hesitant, at first, but asked us to explain what the process involved. We explained the planning process, with special emphasis on his central role in the authorship of the contents and the methods deployed to implement the new plan. With his agreement secured we planned for our next meeting to reassess the current service plan as far his needs are concerned and how we can better support him. The meeting ended with Mr Smith informing us that he will try his best to be at the meeting, a week from today, at our Southport office. Reassessment of Service Plan The meeting...

The Pursuit of Happiness

...The Pursuit of Happiness Jun Xi Zhou DeVry University The Pursuit of Happiness I would like to comment on a movie called “The Pursuit of Happiness”. It is based on a true story of the famous self-made millionaire Chris Gardner. When I saw this movie, I thought it might be another old story of inspiring people to stick to their dreams, nothing new. But I decided to watch it for the reason that it stars Will Smith who was nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for Best Actor because of his performance in this movie. I believe that a good movie must have a good plot, wonderful acting, and the most important thing is the audience’s feeling when they have finished watching the movie. I expect the movie to give me the strength and let me feel happiness. Protagonist of the story is the American black’s investment expert Chris Gardner. Film tells a bankrupt salesman through their unremitting efforts, finally become famous financier of the inspirational story. The most important thing is that what people will know and what are people’s feelings after they have watched the movie. When watching the film I was considering whether to continue to go to college, and I don't know direction. I considered whether I should continue to pursue my dream. After I finished watching, I found that unlike a usual success story, this movie is realistic because there are many failures, defeats and missed opportunities before success happens. An important clue in the film is the change...

The Pursuit of Happyness Plot Summary

...The year is 1981, and Chris Gardener (Will Smith) is trying to make a living by selling bone scanner machines in San Francisco to doctors and medical centers. It's a bother to lug around the clunky machines but he enjoys making connections with people. Although he is a natural born salesman, this African-American believes that he is destined for a better career path. His wife Linda (Thandie Newton) is working at two jobs to help pay the bills, and they are behind on their rent. Their five-year old son, Christopher (Jaden Christopher Syre Smith), goes to a day carecenter, and it bugs his dad that on the outside of the building, the term "the pursuit of happyness" is misspelled. He is convinced that these little details make all the difference in life. The constant strain of financial pressure is too much for Linda to handle so she decides to take a job with a relative in a restaurant in New York. Although her husband is a disappointment to her, she does have confidence that he will find a way to take care of their son, and so she leaves Christopher with him. Chris's persistence pays off when he is chosen for an internship program at a prestigious stock brokerage firm. The determining factor seems to be that he impresses one of the top officers by solving a Rubiks Cube in record time. It is obvious that he has a special gift for numbers in addition to his flair for sales. The only hitches to his new lease on life are that the program does not pay any salary and only one of the...

...they like, and how to approach them when they are to sell something. Also, I have learned that no matter how hard things get, I should always find a way to look at the brighter side of life and try harder to escape the misfortune that I am in; and that if I do my best, it will all pay off in the end. Another thing that I would like to point out in the movie is when Will Smith, whilst dialing the numbers of people during his internship, didn't put the handset back in the cradle. This to me was a symbol to not waste time, to do the work efficiently and to not spend time and extra work by putting it back. I also realized that by not showing buyers the personal feelings that you currently feel, and instead act like everything is okay, it may be more of plus since they won't be scared if you are tense while presenting a product. Customers would want a salesperson to be confident, and when they see otherwise, it may be more of a reason to turn you down. Also, as a student, having my parents alongside me is a reason why I never give up, to do my best. So that one day, I can give them a life they deserve, like Will smith did for his...

Aristotle Virtues

...Phronesis is responsible for working out how to achieve the target. (Moss, 2011) The contemporary public figure that illustrates the concept of virtue as described by Aristotle to me would be the American actor Willard Carroll “Will” Smith Jr. BODY Willard Carroll Smith Jr. also better known as the “Will” Smith is an American actor, rapper, comedian, songwriter, and producer (World book, 2016). He illustrates the concept of virtues that were described by Aristotle in many ways. Having wittiness of act, showing an appropriate desire to achieve, having generosity, and magnificence. He gives an excellent representation of how a person should live by for success in this contemporary world. A lot of actors are focused on themselves and get lost in greed of wealth. Will Smith show magnificence and generosity despite all the money he makes crediting it toward a foundation that was started by him and his wife. In the acting industry, many virtues are used daily to support their image and prosperity. Instead of only focusing on just acting, he shows an appropriate desire to achieve more by many different roles and is well known for showing wittiness of act in his public life as a Philanthropist. CONCLUSION The contemporary public figure Will Smith illustrate virtues that are very close to the ones Aristotle presumes correct. His characteristics and ways of life seem to flow well with attributes a person would use. In this day in age, I feel no one has the same virtues that...

Be a Good Father

...BACH NGUYEN ESL 302 MS. MUENCH 02, 25, 09 Out-class essay#1 Second draft A Good Father in the Pursuit of Happyness Every film more or less has impact to audience depending on which type of film and the awareness of each person. The Pursuit of Happyness is a nice movie which shows the regular social issues. It presented the good results that a man got by his great effort in his hard working. Love and trust between father and son is also the dynamics that lead to his motivation to succeed in his life. Through the content of this film, the interactions between Chris and his son impressed me so much. In my opinion, Chris Gardner was a good father through the ways that he acted with his son generally. After watching the movie, it was hard to ignore that he was a responsible father. He really cared about his son’s environment which Christopher communicated with because Chris did not want his son to get the information which did not fit with Christopher’s age. For example, when he saw some bad words on the wall next to the place where Christopher got day-care, he asked the street cleaner to erase them due to being afraid of his son’s seeing. In addition, he told his son to forget the bad words that Christopher had seen on the wall. He also complained the baby-sister after hearing his son retelling his watching a movie which was unsuitable with a child at her day-care home. Anther aspect shows Chris’ love with his son as a father’s obligation when his wife left her family. He...

He is immune to the virus and the only one who can save humanity. He spends several years trying to control the virus and also broadcasting radio signals for any other survivors. The Zombies creep around in the shadows, observing the scientist’s every move until he makes a fatal mistake. I liked this movie because the effectiveness and dialogue of it were accurate and I didn’t get lost watching all the scenes. The special effects and background coincided with what was going on throughout the movie and also appeared to be realistic. The performance of the main character, Will Smith, was phenomenal and I also felt as if I was in his shoes. Several aspects during certain scenes made the movie stand out from the thousands of movies I’ve watched. When Neville was driving around New York City with his dog Sam in a 2009 ford mustang GT500, the roar of the engine and the watchful eye of his dog following the deers symbolized modern hunting. After they got out on foot and began chasing the wild animals into the growing forest and the lions appeared out of the fields to take Neville’s priced deer gave me the idea that earth was reverting back into prehistoric times. Finally, when he sacrificed his life after he realized that the hunted were becoming the hunters he realized then what the cure was. There were some parts...

Morgan Horse Memo

...Re: Mr. and Mrs. John Smith – Morgan Horse Facts: The Smiths’ Adjusted Gross Income is $170,000 and taxable income is $140,000. They have an opportunity to deduct more from their taxable income. The Smiths purchased the Morgan Horse for $10,000 six years ago for their daughter to ride, and they spent an extra $4000 to train the horse. The Smiths are looking to donate the horse to the local police unit. The estimated fair market value of the Morgan Horse is $24,000. Issues: 1) Should Mr. and Mrs. Smith donate the Morgan Horse to the local mounted police unit? 2) How much can they deduct for 2011 as a charitable contribution? Conclusions: The Smiths should donate the Morgan Horse to the local police unit. In the event they donate the horse, they should recognize and deduct the $24,000 fair market value of the Morgan Horse. Discussions: The donation of the Morgan Horse is considered a donation of appreciated capital gain property because the Smiths have owned it for more than one year, and would recognize a long term capital gain if the horse was sold at the date of the contribution to the local police department. If the Smiths donate the horse to the public charity and the charity will use the horse for their primary function, the fair market value of the Morgan Horse can be recognized as a charitable contribution. Also, deductions for contribution of capital gain property are limited to 30% of the adjusted gross income. Since the Smiths charitable contribution...
