Cole demonstrates rage because he has so much of it and doesn't know how to handle it. Mikaelsen wrote, “Cole felt a familiar rage building inside him… his anger smoldered like a lit fuse”(25). This shows that Cole lets the rage get to him and holds it in, but, “Cursing, he swept his arm across the table and sent the baking ingredients flying” (Mikaelsen 33). When he holds in his anger he lets it out in a big way and what he needs to do it is let it out in little by little and learn to calm down.
