Is Raisin Bran Healthy for you?
Raisin Bran a brand of cereal we average Americans are used to seeing on the shelves within our grocery stores. With the vivid branding that this particular cereal is accompanied with it is seen by many American that Raisin Bran is healthy and good for you because thats what it says right on the box. Within the many ad campaigns for this cereal it claims that it is “heart-healthy” and “A good source of fiber”. However have you actually questioned if all that is true. We as consumers never question what exactly we put in our bodies. With my research I’ve come to the factual truth behind Raisin Bran.

What you need to know about Raisin Bran: With cereal it is mostly composed of wheat and with some brands they include fruit or other sugary sweets that make the cereal less boring. With Raisin Bran it is basically fifty precent wheat flakes to fifty percent raisins, who would of known? However Rasisn bran is celebrated as cereal thats healty for you, but did you know how much sugar is in it? More importantly do you know how much fiber is in it since thats what makes it healthy for you. …show more content…
So like they advertise on the box it has 30% of your daily minimum. But heres where it starts to get ugly on just the sugar alone it has 19 grams. Thats almost 5 teaspoon's worth of sugar for every bowl of Raisin Bran. As an example Fruit loops only has 12 grams of sugar in them. For something thats promoted as healthy its actually better for you to eat some other brand of

Mergers with Differentiated Products - Nevo

...RAND Journal of Economics Vol. 31, No. 3, Autumn 2000 pp. 395–421 Mergers with differentiated products: the case of the ready-to-eat cereal industry Aviv Nevo* Traditional merger analysis is difficult to implement when evaluating mergers in industries with differentiated products. I discuss an alternative, which consists of demand estimation and the use of a model of postmerger conduct to simulate the competitive effects of a merger. I estimate a brand-level demand system for ready-to-eat cereal using supermarket scanner data and use the estimates to (1) recover marginal costs, (2) simulate postmerger price equilibria, and (3) compute welfare effects, under a variety of assumptions. The methodology is applied to five mergers, two of which occurred and for which I compare predicted to actual outcomes. 1. Introduction Traditional analysis of horizontal mergers is based primarily on industryconcentration measures. The market is defined and pre- and postmerger market shares of the relevant firms are used to compute pre- and postmerger concentration measures, which give rise to presumptions of illegality. Using this approach to evaluate mergers in industries with differentiated, or closely related but not identical, products is problematic. In many cases the product offerings make it difficult to define the relevant product (or geographic) market. Even if the relevant market can easily be defined, the computed concentration index provides a reasonable standard by which to judge...

While in the small shops the individual worker was completely responsible for the quality of the work, this was no longer true in mass production where each individual’s contribution to the finished product constituted only an insignificant part in the total process. The quality control by the large companies was achieved with the help of quality inspectors responsible for checking a 100 percent inspection of all the important characteristics. Dr. Walter A.
