“But raising the minimum wage to $15 per hour is not the way to get wages up in this country.
In fact, it would cause perhaps as many as a million people to lose their jobs.” This was stated by Jonathan Trugman in an article published on November 24, 2015 on New York Post. The minimum wage in America should not be raised, but instead it should be kept at where it is currently at. If the minimum wage is raised, it could cause many various problems throughout the country, affecting all who live here. Today we will cover the problems that would arise if the minimum wage was raised, next some solutions and alternatives to not raising the minimum wage, and finally, the benefits of keeping the minimum wage where it is at right now.

Such programs provide an incentive to taking minimum wage positions. Another positive alternative is tax reductions for small businesses. These tax reductions would make it easier for businesses to create jobs, thus helping lower unemployment in America. Finally, the article on Newsmax.com also states that a decrease in health insurance premiums would cause wages to rise. The reason wages have stagnated throughout the country is due to these increasing health insurance premiums.
We now have knowledge of some solutions and alternatives to this problem, now let's discuss the benefits to these. Both the employed and unemployed would benefit by not increasing the minimum wage, because it leaves room for job creation and employees would also get more benefits. The economy would also see benefits from this. Keeping the minimum wage where it is currently at leaves room for economic growth, consumer prices would not rise, and high school students and young adults would remain as the main employees of minimum wage level jobs.
