...Teaching Rationale The approach to this lesson is based around the pupils getting a clear understanding of how and where Hydrogen Fuel Cells could be used as an alternative energy resource. The first aspect of this lesson was to captivate the students and motivate them so that they would be engaged throughout the lesson. It “is the teacher’s role to motivate the student by encouraging them to see the value of what they are about to learn, and to believe in their own capacity”( Marzano). This is done by means of a video clip that is played before the lesson topic is introduced. The clip shows our current status in relation to the future crisis of our non-renewable energy resources. This clip leads on to the introduction of the lesson on Hydrogen Fuel Cells (Orientation). The introduction will inform the pupils where this topic lies in relation to previous lessons and to future lessons. A short task at the beginning of the lesson (learning strategy) will be given to the students asking them to name types of non-renewable energy resources used at present. Positive feedback will be given to all their responses as it is shown to increase pupils’ grades by 2 grades (Effect size 1.13). A Hydrogen Fuel Cell will be present in the class for demonstration purposes which will form part of the lesson. This will provide pupils an opportunity to observe how these fuel cells function. This will gain the students attention (motivation). Information on the working principles of the fuel cell...

...Rationales of Incarceration as Punishment and Alternative Methods The Government has several theories to support the use of incarceration as punishment. Which can be divided into two main categories: utilitarian and retributive. The utilitarian theory seeks to discourage “deter” future crimes by punishing the offender. The retributive theory seeks to punish offenders because they deserve to be punished. If one looks future into the reasons we punish criminals, one can find a number of justifications for using punishment. "Most criminal justice scholars agree [though] that there are four primary justifications for criminal punishment; retribution, deterrence, incapacitation, and rehabilitation.” (The drug trade, 2004-2005, p. 206) The first rationale is deterrence which is let’s use this person as an example so they and others will not commit a crime. I feel the main reason we use incarceration is to punish the offender and to maintain order in society. Some believe that when you punish an offender it will deter them from a lifetime of future crime as well as others in society. You have to ask yourself does incarceration deter crime. The short answer is both yes and no. Some will learn from their mistakes and not do it again and others will not care. Some believe that deterrence is useful in deterring convicted offenders from committing other crimes and will deter others in society from committing crimes. If a person knows that they will be punished if caught committing...

...Self Rationale My three strengths are my skills in the interior design field, my language ability and my experience with customer service. I have highlighted my strengths in my resume and cover letter by putting it in point form on top of both documents. In my cover letter, I further discussed my strengths that support the points listed. My weaknesses are forgetfulness, spending too much time to make my work perfect and not able to say no to others. To minimize my weakness effectively, I will start to change my bad habits such as writing down tasks that I have to do to reduce my forgetfulness; working ahead of time to ensure I have time to perfect my work; and trying to say no to others if I know I cannot do the favor they have asked for....

...Chapter I THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND Rationale: The Fourth year (4th) Nursing students of University of Pangasinan – Phinma Education Network (UPANG-PEN) School Year (S.Y.) 2012-2013 is the first batch under the new curriculum for Bachelor of Science in Nursing. In the new curriculum, many changes were made like additional subjects, new grading system and new assigned subjects were implemented and scheduled. It is not surprising that a lot of 4th year nursing students are complaining of stress because of the changes brought about by the new curriculum and along with this is the almost weekly examinations on each of the ten (10) major subjects undertaken by these 4th year students. This also includes the Mock Board Examination before they finally graduate which also contributes to the burden felt by the students not only in academic aspect but as well as their individual problems with regards to personal issues, such as love, peers, finances, other family issues and similar factors that make them very stressful. A normal person when it comes to having stress brought about by daily life’s issues will think of a solution or technique in order to cope up with it. The student researchers believe that these 4th year nursing students of UPANG-PEN S.Y. 2012-2013, make use of the different types of coping mechanisms or techniques according to their own preferences that will help them in facing their stressful times. In connection to this, the student researchers want to...

...Through our examination of evil and imagination our group will be examining the relationship between the two and how it is connected to religion. In addition to the how, we will also be looking closely at why evil and imagination are affected based on religion and beliefs. To start we first need to understand what imagination is and why the connection between religion and human imagination is so significant. Merriam Webster defines imagination as; "The act of power of forming a mental image or something not present to the senses or never before wholly perceived in reality; a creation of the mind." The key is that what is imagined is generated from within, rather than perceived on input from without. Imagination is one of human’s most unique abilities, its what make us who we are and leads to the creations of tomorrow. Whether those be new world technologies, or famous works of art, nothing is made without first having the forethought and creativity behind it. This is one of many reasons why imagination is so vital to human culture. Since the beginning of history evil and our imagination go hand and hand, they always have and likely always will. We simply cannot have one without the other and as long as there are humans alive and thinking there will be evil around the corner. Understanding what imagination is now we can take a deeper look on the context and history of evil. As with many branches of evil, the topic of imagination and evil stem indirectly from religion...

...Diabetes is a good choice of a disease to follow as it is becoming more and more wide spread. It is striking children at younger ages than it was years ago. These days research has found ways of helping to keep those sugar levels down to a level that is not as harmful to the health of the person who has diabetes. I am one of those who have been struck with this disease, I was diagnosed as Gestational and it never went away. Someday I would like to see a cure for this as well as more educational teachings being done at younger ages. Diabetes is a disease that affects approximately 28.3 million people in the United States. Too often there is a misconception that diabetes is a disease people can develop when they are obese, when in fact anyone can be affected by diabetes. Diabetes can occur in people of all ages and people who have no family history. Since the beginning of disease diabetes has been around. Of course, like most disease we have come a long way in the treatment of diabetes. Testing glucose levels have come a long way not so long ago people with diabetes had to smell and taste their urine to estimate what their blood sugar was; now we have test strips, glucometers, A1c machines. Back in the day if a diabetics sugar was elevated they starved or burned lots of calories exercising, doing yard work anything to get their levels down. Now a day we have insulin which works in 5 minutes to bring down the levels. If more people learned the facts about diabetes, then...

...What is the rationale presented for the change? The first article shows that the Nokia Company had to stop almost 10,000 of their staff to decrease the cost by the end of 2013. To support the transition period, Nokia plans to increase its operating model to reduce expenses significantly devices and services, which reduce the number of employees and the factory area if the company want to stay competitive in the market for the long term. This situation shows the rationale for the change. The Nokia Chief Executive is taking the director image which is based on an image of management as control and of change outcomes as being achievable. The chief executive holds that if the company wants to remain competitive, they need to close the facility in Ulm, Germany; Burnaby, Canada and manufacturing plants in Salo, Finland, with their research and development (R & D) in Salo will continue. ...“Do not train a child to learn by force or harshness: but direct them to it by what amuses their minds, so that you may be better able to discover with accuracy the peculiar bent of the genius of each.”- Plato (BC 427-BC. 347) Greek Philosopher. This quote as to what Plato said in a sense is true to this day. Every child is genius when it comes to learning. Various students are better learners in areas of interest such as Mathematics or philosophy. Today, educators challenge students to discover new topics and encourage them to gain further knowledge in the areas of interest. Consequently, this could bring about curiosity in areas normally the student may have given less attention to. This is the philosophy of Plato. He believes a superior educator will be able to draw out those talents in students. Philosophy has been integrated in the history of education from the beginning of time. The use of philosophy is applied to everyday living, education, politics and economics situations. The branch of philosophy that is concerned with the nature of reality and existence is known as metaphysics. Metaphysics is concerned with the question of nature of the person or the self. It addresses such questions as whether human nature is basically good, evil, spiritual, mental, or physical. (Webb, Metha, Jordan. Pg. 50) Metaphysics is an essential component element of teaching. Children are taught by their parents the ethics of what is acceptable in society. This encourages the child...

...Shan ice Hannah EDU 215: Education Foundation and Framework 09/23/2012 My own educational philosophy of teaching will be making sure my student receives knowledge. I want to bring learning to them in ways that they understand and also eager to learn more. What is philosophy a systematic body of thought that represent a worldview, of which education is a part, see beyond the moment, and dedicate inquiry into idea, tradition, and ways of thinking. I will discuss the four components of philosophy: metaphysis, epistemology, axiology, and logic An example of how metaphysis will appear in my classroom is discipline. No one will be treated disrespectfully and everyone must get alone, at least while in my classroom. Due unto others as you would have them do unto you. Jesus was bear on the cross for us, he was a good man. He was beaten and disrespected by bad people who didn’t like him because he stands for something good. In the bible it was stress that you should discipline your child: spare the rod spoils the child you do mischievous things you get punish. So being kind in the classroom will help bring off good vibes and learning can continue in the classroom. What is epistemology is the way we come to know truth by choice. An example of how epistemology will appear in my classroom is how I will be educating my students. I will have them do a lot of reading because that builds knowledge and understanding. This will also help...

...My writing is my running career. It is not always pleasant to do in the moment, but I often find myself very proud of what I accomplish. Like a season of training, my skill has increased with repetition and practice, certainly over this semester. As I put the work in, I have noticed growth in my approach to writing, writing process, and skill at crafting an argument, and further my understanding of addressing and understanding human rights. I find that I write more deliberately now, like following a training plan rather than making up workouts as I go. I think more about what I am doing specifically to persuade my audience. Before this term I would merely lay out my writing as it made sense to me. I have since realized the importance of tailoring my work to a specific audience. Of course, using appropriate language depending on the reader goes without saying. But only recently did I really begin to think about varying my use of rhetorical tactics; emphasizing appeals to ethos, logos, or pathos depending on who the indented reader was. This meant appealing more to pathos where I could and it was more audience-appropriate in my video project, and keeping the focus on ethos and logos in Project 1, which was research driven. The concept of Kairos was also an important tool I picked up this year. Framing an issue in terms of a relevant happening was not something that had previously really occurred to me as necessary, but using mass incarceration and the recent backlash against it...

A fine example of Manansala using this "transparent and translucent" technique is his composition, Kalabaw (Carabao).[1] Vicente Manansala, a National Artist of the Philippines in Visual Arts, was a direct influence to his fellow Filipino neo-realists: Malang, Angelito Antonio, Norma Belleza and Baldemor.[1] The Honolulu Museum of Art, the Lopez Memorial Museum (Manila), the Philippine Center (New York City), the Singapore Art Museum and Holy Angel University (Angeles City, Philippines)...
