...requirements, Fall, 2006 “Two of the names that appear most often on the wall of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington are Johnson and Rodriguez. These two names tell us something about the composition of the U. S. military during the war, especially the combat units.” Aztlan and Vietnam: Chicano and Chicana Experiences of the War, George Mariscal, ed. Like all of the other major events of the 20th century, the Vietnam War reached Guadalupe when John Varela arrived there on an early support mission for the advisors to the Vietnamese government in 1963. His visit was brief, perhaps two weeks. He characterized it as a Navy reconnaissance mission. But Varela’s first mission did not involve combat, unlike the first Guadalupan to see combat, Rudy Razo who arrived in July 1965, at a mere eighteen years old, just three months after the first major contingent of 3,500 combat Marines had arrived in Vietnam on March 8, 1965. He had arrived at the earliest stages of the war, when the United States had begun the shift from an advisory role to a combat one. This early trickle of soldiers would shortly turn into a virtual river of draftees and volunteers, peaking in 1968-1969. By the end of 1969, over 135 young servicemen from Guadalupe had been drafted or joined voluntarily. From Varela’s mission in 1963 to the fall of Saigon in 1975, to the rescue of the crew of the S.S. Mayagüez, they were there. Varela had joined the Navy at the age of 17, in between his junior and senior years in high...

...EL RINCON DEL MUNDO The small town of Guadalupe has Spanish history, as does most of the southwest region of the USA. Most of Guadalupe’s jobs center around agriculture. “El Rincon del mundo” which is what the region was thought of, literally mean the edge of the world in English. The name of Guadalupe is derived from either “La virgen de Guadalupe” or “Rancho de Guadalupe”. THE SKINNY BEAR Oso Flaco or (skinny bear) is a salt water lake near Guadalupe, gets it’s name from a story of a Spanish adventurer who kills a bear then eats its meat not knowing that the bear had been poisoned by the local Native Americans. The teens of Guadalupe organize a youth group called “Thee Group B”. “The Group B” has it’s own house band called “Soul Explosion” which eventually changes it’s name to “Congress”. Soul Explosion and Thee Group B have bonfires and party at the outskirts of town. THE DUNE THAT NEVER MOVES In 1923 The Ten Commandments a silent movie by Cecil B. DeMille is shot at the southern end of Guadalupe. A gigantic set is created for the film, complete with 20-ton pharaoh statues and a “City of Pharaohs”. After completion of the film the set is bulldozed with sand giving it term “The Dune that never moves”. To big city folk like those whom make movies there, Guadalupe and her surrounding area looks very different from what they are used to, from it’s farmland, to the fact that in the whole town there is not a single traffic light, to it’s cities building’s...

A flow process chart records the process in a compact manner. We must use this flow process chart to construct a new and improved process for a large mail-order catalog company so that it can reduce their wrongly addressed customer packages and decrease their wasted time on the travel of the packages. Introduction: A large mail-order company found out that they are having problems with the handling on customer packages. They are experiencing excessive back lags because of wrongly addressed packages. By using the flow process chart, we will try if we can improve their present process. We will try to modify their current system to find the best solution for their problem. Objectives: * Decrease the frequency of wrong addresses on mailing labels * Construct a new and improved process chart Methods: * The layout of the current warehouse must be reconstructed. * Put the dispatching/mailing office in the ground floor to lessen the travel time. * Use JIT or Just in time technique to deliver the packages in the right time and in the right location. * Utilize the use of hand cart for faster in house mobilization. ...SHORT HISTORY OF THE ILOILO PROVINCIAL HIGH SCHOOL The Iloilo National High School (INHS) is a provincial high School located in Iloilo City, Philippines. The history of the Iloilo High School dates back to the later part of 1902 when a school called the Iloilo Normal School was established in a two-storey building in front of and across the street of the present Provincial Building (now Casa Plaza) to meet the future need for Filipino teachers. The minimum requirement for admission was the completion of the elementary education in the old Spanish schools. The first batch of teachers were selected from experienced American teachers. The first principal was Mr. Lutz, who, despite his past sixty years, was a very kind and understanding man. The initial enrolment was about 250 and was divided into 5 sections. By 1903, the school had a very active literary society called Philomathean and had also a strong baseball team. In 1904, Mr. Covell succeeded Mr. Lutz as principal. To accommodate more students, preparatory classes were organized. For the first time Filipino students were selected as government pensionados to continue their studies in the United States. Among those selected were Candido Alcazar, Ambrosio Gison, Delfin Jaranilla, Carlos Lopez, Leon Nava, Balbino Palmares, Graciano Rico, Cirilo Torreblanca and Felix Valencia. In 1905, Mr. Maxson succeeded Mr. Covell as principal. The pensionados then were Geronimo Huising, Isabelo Lagniton, Claro Pendon, and...

...Economic Policy Paper on Political Stability and Economic Development: The Case of Bangladesh 1. Introduction Among the non-economic variables considered as sine qua non for development, political stability comes first. One may argue that other non-economic factors like rule of law, law and order situation are subsumed under political stability. On the other hand, major determinants of development like savings and investment, relative price stability, human resources, level of technology, factor productivity can play an effective role when political atmosphere is congenial. For example, it is argued that political stability and convenient law and order ensure the confidence of the people in the economy and its further development, which encourages the people to save. It also promotes confidence of the investors in the economy and convinces them to invest and reinvest. Of course, price stability, higher education and technical qualifications of the population, increasing factor productivity, technological modernity, export promotion etc. may not be directly related to political stability. But political stability in the long run ultimately ensures a relative price stability, improves educational and qualification status of the people, increases factor productivity, enables technology transfer, promotes exports. Those are the factors essential for economic growth. Moreover, long term political stability provides a congenial atmosphere for evolution of democracy. Democratic political...

In my letter to you last year, I had discussed the critical importance of developing biosimilars in the years to come. I am happy to note that your Company’s global biosimilars business grew by 45% over last year and recorded sales of USD 26 million. Today, the biosimilars portfolio of Dr. Reddy’s constitutes (i) filgrastim, (ii) peg-filgrastim, (iii) rituximab and (iv) darbepoetin alfa, which have commercial presence in 13 countries among emerging markets.
