Describe Honda’s strategy in the Japanese market from its founding until 1959. Describe Honda’s strategy in the US market starting with its entry to the market in 1959.

After world war 2, the motorcycle industry in japan was delivering technically inferior products that were unreliable and were not addressing the consumer needs. Honda’s strategy was to supply technically superior products that provided cheap means of transportation. while the competition was risk averse, Honda’s focused on innovation to achieve technical superiority and use price as a competitive edge. This allowed them to not only provide a better product in the current market segment but also enabled them to identify and capture new market segments. Their focus on innovation and utilization of economies of scales allowed them to attain a sustainable growth and realize significant market share.

Huge volumes gave them a competitive cost position and they were able to leverage this position to enter the US market with a differentiated

Ex-Convicts Research Paper

...ex-convicts. The American labor market is not wholly sinful, but is sinful when it comes to the discrimination against ex-convicts. It was designed to allow all people to achieve wealth as far as their talents and work habits will take them. This design enables many people to achieve financial success through hard work and dedication, but can often deny human solidarity and neglect the call to care for all of God’s creation. The organizations and agencies that help ex-convicts re-enter society and fight discrimination are graceful, as they care for God’s creation and affirm that ex-convicts are equal to everyone else...

Reflective Essay – International Assignments

...As introduction it needs to be said, it is already hard for family and family life, if someone has a stressful job as for example as a company leader, where the workload is larger than in a 40-hour job, but the situation can get even worse when an international assignment plays a role in the work life. No matter what type of assignment comes into play, there are several advantages and disadvantages, especially for the family of the person that has to go abroad for work, what should be discussed in this essay. When we first go into deep about expatriation, the major question to be asked is whether the family is also moving abroad or not, depending on the planned length of the assignment. In both cases several issues have to be faced. If the family is also moving, a hard task is to organize everything at home and at the host country, regarding housing, work permits, visa, school for kids, and so forth. When the company of the assignee supports the family as a whole, it can be a lot easier to get over some critical issues as for example housing or school for the kid. The situation for the family members can be helped, when an organization specialized on helping international assignees is considered. The very best advantage of this case is the family can stay together and is not separated for some years. When the wife and kids would stay at home, from my sight of view the relationship could be extremely negative affected. Let us just imagine the international assignment is for about...

The Team That Wasnt

...(25%) In the case study "The Team that Wasn't" (copy attached) Randy (the Sales Manager) was proving to be a difficult team member. Using the Group Performance Model elements included in Organizational Context, Group Structure and Group Process terms, identify: a) 3 components of the model that were not being successful with Randy and explain your reason (rationale) and b) identify what the team leader could do about it (suggested solution) and your rationale. The Group Performance Model is also attached for your reference. 1) Problem and Rationale: Lack of Leadership by Eric of Randy – Randy has taken advantage of Eric’s poor leadership by inserting himself in as the informal leader and through his disruptive behaviors and actions .Eric has not shown to be a good team leader – he has not led the establishment of objectives, norms, or decision making processes. More importantly he has not stepped in to resolve conflicts as they occur, instead allowing them to fester and build. Eric is the formal leader, he was named as the team leader, and so has the responsibility to manage the group and its dynamics. Suggested Solution and Rationale: Eric, the team leader, needs to become a leader – he needs to go back and re-look at group dynamics and team performance models and identify what needs to be done to lead this team back on track. He specifically needs to establish the leadership role with Randy – he should have a special meeting with him to establish their roles and position...

Accountability of Elected Officials

...Officials When it comes to political discussions, whether they be arguments or a one sided slurry of words that most people don’t want to hear it. As we all know a presidential race just ended with Obama being re-elected and with that comes another onslaught of jabs and pokes at the job he may or may not accomplish while in office. Throughout history there have always been people for and against the president and there always will be. Republicans and democrats never get along and most of them have incredibly varying opinions on where the government should be heading. With this in mind, have you ever thought about what happens to the elected officials, not just presidents, who spend donated money to get elected and during their tenure in office do nothing to help the very people that elected them into office to begin with? There are studies upon studies that are posted all over the internet that show how horrible of a job most of our presidents have done while in office. At the same time there are tens of thousands of elected officials across the United States who go unnoticed if they do horribly, and most the time return to their normal life after their term is done and think nothing of it ever again. The lack of consequences for people not doing their job they were voted in to do is wrong. When it comes to accountability of officials from any level of government, especially ones that are voted in, need to be held accountable for their actions to provide a better future for us all...

...USA, 66160. Accepted 6 July, 2011 Few studies have focused on the processes in which patients reveal their HIV infection to others. This study sought to understand these processes. Thus, the research questions were: (a) What were their thoughts about the moment when patients learned that they were infected? (b) To whom and when did patients disclose that they were infected? (c) How did they disclose the information? (d) How much or what information did they disclose, and what were the reactions of those who were informed? (e) Why did they reveal the information? The descriptive study was done using a convenience sample of 45 patients with HIV/AIDS at a hospital clinic in northeastern Thailand. The results showed that 67% told a family member, usually their mother, within a day of being told about their HIV diagnosis from a medical staff. Most patients (65%) communicated the diagnosis face to face; only 4% used the telephone. Most patients disclosed the cause and source of infection; some also disclosed the location and time of infection and the current treatment. About half chose to tell family because family would likely take care of them when their symptoms...

Gays in the Military

...came from the mouth of Damien, one my co-workers, when I asked for his opinion on gays in the military. According to the latest polls from the National Post, 50% of military households feel the same way as him (Man para 7). Even with the majority of America in favor for letting gays serve openly in the military, this controversial topic is getting many Americans riled up. I stand on the side of the fence that supports the repeal on the ban that’s prohibiting homosexuals from joining the armed forces. There can be many benefits if we let gays in our ranks. It was Damien’s response that reminded me how ignorant people can be. I immediately insisted for a good explanation for his remark, but he wasn’t able to produce one. “If I’m in a war zone, I want somebody watching my back for my protection. I don’t want them watching me out of sheer bliss.” That was the explanation he gave me as he walked away with the look of annoyance on his face. I wondered, was he annoyed because he realized he sounded like a buffoon, or maybe my facial expressions revealed my disgust towards him. Homosexuals are human beings, and I am a strong believer that they should have the right to defend our country as long as they meet physical and ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) requirements. There aren’t many people who are willing to put on our nation’s uniform especially when America is at war; it takes a special person to accept that responsibility. One of the biggest problems the military...

Born or Made? Wrong Question. Relevant Leaders Are Increasingly Self-Made

...a lofty title, or both. But let’s be clear. We were never really talking about something we need more than ever today: self-made leaders. Instead we were talking about self-made billionaires, self-made entrepreneurs, self-made CEOs, self-made NBA and NFL all-stars. People still go from nothing to something out of nowhere, even overnight. Take Mark Zuckerberg, whose Wikipedia blurb identified him as the “world’s 2nd youngest self-made (my italics) billionaire” in 2012. Zuckerberg is also a self-made innovator. As a college kid, he invented one of the most compelling capabilities of our new century, not to mention the world’s most valuable social network. Still, writing about the 2010 movie The Social Network, The New York Times columnist David Brooks took “the character loosely based on Mark Zuckerberg” to task for being “without social and moral skills” largely because he was a product of a “culture reticent to talk about social and moral conduct.” More recently, the real Zuckerberg is making headlines for what by all accounts appears to be an authentic journey toward becoming the type of leader our companies and world so desperately need. As some detractors called for Zuckerberg to step aside when Facebook’s new stock faltered in 2012, he gave a public interview re-committing to running a “mission-based company”; asserted that his number one priority is Facebook’s “great team”, one inspired by “building something that’s worthwhile.” Early in 2013, the Employees’ Choice Awards...

...should be performed in your allocated groups (usually between 4 and 6 people). Seeking assistance from anyone outside your group or providing assistance to any other group constitutes academic misconduct and will be taken seriously by the university (however, you are allowed to provide assistance to the other members of your own group). If there is any significant similarity between the reports submitted by two or more groups for a particular question, then those group leaders will score zero for that question in the assignment. The mark for the rest of the group will be unaffected. Further action may be taken by the university against any specific group members who have obtained or provided assistance The assignment includes 6 questions (each with sub-parts). Your group must attempt one question for each person in the group (minimum 4 and maximum 6). Four of the questions are compulsory and must be attempted by all groups. The remaining two questions are optional and will be attempted by groups with more than 4 people (or individuals in a group of 4 who would like to lead 2 questions). Each member of your group should take the role of leader for 1 or 2 questions. It is expected that the leader will do a considerable amount of the work for a particular question. You are also urged to adopt a consultative leadership style and to include the content and views of other group members. You should avoid adopting an ‘autocratic’ leadership style. The question leader will have final editing...

Compii Unit 9 Final Project(Grade C)

...have been incarcerated is a multiplying number yearly in this country. America should be more tolerant if not accepting to the idea of convicted felon’s reintegration in to society. It is disheartening that people still live in fear or look down on others whom have had to be incarcerated. If we overcome our discriminations against convicted felons, they can successfully re-enter society, and become productive law abiding citizens. Imagine applying for job after job, with no luck at all even though your credentials qualify you. With no income to provide much less survive, how can anyone make it? The opportunity that someone with a clean criminal history has is incomparable to that of someone with even just one prior conviction. Jobs as well as housing are not as easily attained by a convicted felon. I myself would not know what to do or how to handle the heavy weight of re-entering society. I am not one to make excuses, pacify or enable anyone. This is a real issue that families are suffering the consequences of. Unfortunately the view on imprisonment has been distorted by society ideas to label it as a way to lock up a “bad person and throw away the key”. It’s easy to assume inexperienced citizens have no way of knowing about all the educational, career, emotional and behavioral programs that are offered in prisons and jails. Upon interviewing an ex con about his experiences with re-entry, I discovered that even with proper education it is near impossible for many ex cons...

Congress

...1) There are 535 members in Congress. 2) The minimum age of House member is 25 years. For Senate, this number is 30 years. 3) The dominant prior occupations of most Congress members are law and business. 4) Women are underrepresented in Congress due to sexism and family burden. Women are not as likely to get nominated from the party as men are and have a harder time getting votes in elections. The majority of them also has to take care of children and therefore do not have time for Congress. Women are also less likely to take risks if the odds are against them. 5) Incumbents are members who are already holding office. In congressional election, these members usually win with the reelection rate of 90%. They provide stability in Congress. 6) The reelection bids for House favor incumbents. Incumbents in House are already well known with financial backing. In Senate, the odds of re-election are not as good as in the House due to a larger base of opposition. Senators also have less personal contact with their constituency. In order to win against incumbents, challengers must take advantage of scandals and the reassignment of incumbents into unfamiliar turfs. 7) Case work is the act of helping constituents by cutting through bureaucratic red tapes. 8) A bicameral legislature is a two house legislature. It applies for every American state except for Nebraska. Each state is guaranteed two senators, and number of representatives is decided based on population. Bicameral legislature...

Texting and Driving

...One of the most common occurrences in a person’s everyday life is driving a vehicle but do you ever take a second to think about what harm you can possibly cause. I am sure at one point or another you have been driving and seen another driver and then asked yourself “what is this person doing. “ At the age of 16 Americans are required to take an exam to show they have the knowledge required to operate a vehicle as well as six months of driving with a guardian. Most see this test as satisfactory but with the driving seen on the roads every day I tend to believe otherwise. No matter the age of the driver there are bad skills being demonstrated whether it be the older gentleman going slow in the fast lane or not using the proper turn signal it would be the young kid who just got their license speeding everywhere they go. It is not everyone who has poor driving skills and for the people who drive safely a switch in how we regulate who is allowed behind the wheel could decide how we look at vehicles from now on. What needs to be changed so that safe driving will be a more frequent occurrence is not the way we issue licenses but how the general population is never re-examined on their driving skills after the age of sixteen. Would you be willing to take a re-examination test of your driving skills knowing that you would be saving lives by creating a safer driving environment? A re-examination of all drivers can make the roads safer for everyone. Currently there is only a re-examination...
