Relationship between parents and their teenage children
I think that trust and respect is so important in a relationship between teenagers and their parents, because the teenagers need to know that they can share things and tell their parents about their problems, and here I am thinking that it is all about the parent’s reactions that makes the child want or does not want to come and share things again. What is also one of the most important things are to know the right way their teenage children should be treated.
As I know teenagers like to be free and independent in their life, so it is good for parents to understand them in this situation, because they can end up doing things behind your back. Parents should not ignore experimentation with alcohol and drug, in hope that the teenage child will somehow learn about the risks. I think they should talk about the danger and make them understand in a good way. Being a teenager is not something bad because it is, in my opinion, the best period of one’s life and all our good times are spent in this period, it is definitely also a though period for the parents and the teenagers. As a teenager you have to look after so many things, happening around with friends, their own body, hormones and that they don’t feel understood from their parents side. For them it is like to fight everyday with their parents, but in the same time I know it is difficult and hard for the parents because they have to deal with the various changes. Their children do not really want to listen and prefer to do things as they want to.
As a teenage girl, you have much more discussions with your mother. As a girl you often have multiple discussions with your mother, and you often don’t feel understood. To get a good relationship between teenagers and parents, I can from my own experience say that the most important thing is that you are recognized and understood. By that I mean that they as parents have been young and know from thre own experience it can be a difficult time in your life, but they also have an understanding that time changes and the young might not have been the same now as when they were young teenagers. You can be focusing on other things then what your parents did, which needs to be accepted.
Trust must be shown by letting your teenage daughter / son do certain things and hope that they can do it and not always think that they will fail. For example, to give them permission to go certain places by themselves, without questioning they will exploit this opportunity, opportunity to take responsibility for themselves in some situations, because you do not have to be inexperienced, but that you might actually be able to take care of yourself. But at the same time, there must be room for you as a teenager to make mistakes, and it is at this stage of life you may have to learn from your mistakes. All this I think will help you get, closer to each other and have a good relationship as a teenager and parents.
