MTV’s “Teen Wolf” has many fantastic characters, but Lydia Martin, played by Holland Roden, tops the cake in this supernatural drama. She is a complex and well-rounded character and possesses many desirable qualities. Furthermore, here are 8 reasons to love Lydia Martin:

1. Her character development
At the start of the show, you see the stereotypical popular girl. Lydia is beautiful, vapid, and shallow. Oh, and she’s dating the school jock. The queen bee cliché that is Lydia Martin is heavily shown in the show’s beginnings. However, as the show progresses we begin to see past the facade that she puts on. Her brain
She knew how to make a self-igniting molotov cocktail from memory, and she learned archaic latin because she got bored with regular latin. She fought supernatural battles and is still going to MIT as a junior. Lydia’s genius level IQ is just another reason to love Beacon Hill’s resident banshee.

5. She’s a badass
Whether she’s fighting off a berserker with a baseball bat or using her banshee powers to escape from Eichen house, Lydia is a total badass when it comes to defending herself. She always finds a way to survive through all the chaos.

6. She’s strong
Lydia is repeatedly going through traumatic experiences. She’s severely injured multiple times; she loses her best friend; she’s forced into the supernatural world when she becomes a banshee. That’s not even half of what she’s had to deal with it. Life dealt her a bad hand, and rather than letting it defeat her, Lydia used her experiences and grew from them.

7. She believes in others
Lydia has seen death and destruction countless times. She’s seen evil, and even though she believes there is good in people. When Meredith is revealed to be behind the benefactor scheme, Lydia doesn’t scold her for her actions. Instead, she lets Meredith know that there is good in the world, with Scott being her biggest
