...New product Recomendation ABC Company is trying to increase sales from 1.2 million to 3 million within a 3 year time frame which is a very aggressive move to make since that goal of 3 million in sales is more than twice what the company is currently brining in. The company will need to review several factors to determine if this type of an increase is even possible to make by adding an additional product of making cedar doll houses to try to supplement the income. There are several factors that need to be taken into consideration before any determinations can be made and before production of the doll houses could begin at all. Some of those possible set backs are: quality, competition, completion, and raw materials. Just looking at the numbers the company wants to grow starting a new product line does not appear to be a viable option at the moment but the correct answer would not be known for sure until all the numbers are run, a cash flow statement is created, the NPV is determined, and all potential risk factors are determined. When the company is trying to decide if they want to add an additional product line to their factories they need to look at several different factors before any decisions can be made on if or how they should go ahead with the new product line. Some of these considerations are quality, competition, completion times and raw materials. Quality needs to be considered because the company already has a set standard for quality it gives its customers...

...John Johnson 123 A Street Citycenter, NY 12345 January 21, 2012 John Smith 345 B Street Citycenter, NY 12345 Dear Mr. Smith, I am writing to recommend Tom Thompson for the position of Sales Manager at ABC Company. I had the pleasure of working directly with Tom during his time as a salesperson at XYZ, Inc., and his tremendous abilities never ceased to amaze me. I was Tom’s direct supervisor at XYZ, and during that time, we worked together closely, so I fully understand his capabilities. Tom’s incredible adaptability with potential clients has let him excel in sales. His uncanny ability to know what the client wants before they tell him makes customers feel comfortable with him. His flexibility also allows him to quickly switch tactics if the customer changes their mind about something at the last minute. While at XYZ, Tom managed to sell our product to several clients who had been on the fence about wanting to buy our products for years. Tom’s great connection with the customers and relentless perseverance to always make the customer happy allowed him to become the number one salesperson at our company for five years in a row. The sales numbers he reached far exceeded any previous winners. Tom is also able to work effectively with other coworkers, making him a great addition to the team. After taking the initiative to sign up for classes on leadership and interpersonal skills, he even presented the information he learned to the rest of the company, which dramatically improved the way we communicate...

...MERIDIAN MANAGEMENT SCHOOL (MMS) Mini Case Study Analysis (Human resource Perspective) 1.0 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The Management School of Meridian University is a specialist Postgraduate management school. MMS has being established 15 years before this case study was written since then MMS became leader in the field of postgraduate management. MMS has wide portfolio of courses both fulltime and part-time basis this was partly because of easy procedure for introducing new course. MMS has its own dedicated staff headed by head of school. The other staff of MMS composed of 20 academic staff, one SAO and 4 administrators from the four different divisions of MMS namely: Organisational Behaviour/Human Resource Management, Operation Management, Finance & Economics and Marketing. The organisational structure of MMS had relative flat structure, the academic staff who were equally divided into the four subject divisions were either lecturer or senior lecturer. In addition to that senior lecturer were only in a higher grade of the Salary scale of MMS but had same condition of employment with the lecturers. Currently MMS is facing problem of losing important staff who were important for the smooth going of school activities at a critical time of the year when MMS is getting ready for the new intake. 2.0 ISSUES: There a number of issues related to this case but I will concentrate more on issues on staffing since it is the most critical issue in this case. For the staffing...

...Recommendation 1. Urge the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and Congress as appropriate, to provide for the creation by the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) of a national center to facilitate auditing firms’ and other market participants’ sharing of fraud prevention and detection experiences, practices, and data and innovation in fraud prevention and detection methodologies and technologies, and commission research and other fact-finding regarding fraud prevention and detection, and further, the development of best practices regarding fraud prevention and detection. a. Discuss three arguments in favor of the recommendation. Choose the three that you think provide the strongest arguments supporting the recommendation. “Auditor’s need greater obligation to act when there is reasonable suspicion of fraud” This first argument is my opinion entirely valid because when a professional has a higher set standard requirement there is more commitment to act actively to execute his/her duty due to the consequences of not actually exercising professional skepticism. Therefore, an auditor would have to have a higher reasonable assurance to give an unqualified opinion, and he/she would be less tempted to overlook material misstatements and frauds. “It enhances the competitiveness of United States capital markets.” This argument has one of the strongest support for the recommendation because the share of existing cases, evidence, and studies will provide the...

...AUGUST 8, 2014 ARIEL G. VILLANUEVA BSBA-111 CASE STUDY: QUALITY IN PRACTICE “UNDERSTANDING THE VOICE OF THE CUSTOMER AT LAROZA’S PIZZA” I. COMPANY PROFILE: LaRosa’s is a privately held chain of neighborhood pizzerias with 54 location in Cincinnati, Ohio, northern Kentucky, and southeast Indiana, that offers full-service dine-in, carry-out and take home delivery. In 1997, as a part of a new strategy planning process, LaRosa’s identified growth as a key strategic goal. The executive management team had developed three growth strategies but could not agree on which one to follow because of a lack of a fact-based foundation for the decision. In 2000, a project team was formed to tackle this issue and was given complete latitude to make any recommendation for an Italian/pizzeria concept based on customer needs and expectations. The key tool that successfully led to an understanding of their customer’s and to a new and innovative restaurant design was Voice of the Customer ( VOC). VOC is a structured methodology for listening to customers that is promoted by the center for Quality of Management ( CQM) an industrial consortium based on Boston. The experience of using VOC changed the company focus from “ product-out” to a “market-in” mentality. It gave them a decision making tool based on factual data, broke down communication silos within the company, and eliminated the age old sales and marketing versus operations conflict. II. ...(Farabee, Prendergast, Cartier, Wexler, Knight, Anglin) Possible issues: Clearly, some of the issues that had to be considered while developing the program were the manner in which inmates were selected using “limited criteria” that might exclude certain inmates because of gang affiliations, the lack of “qualified staff” which can adequately treat inmates, the turnover of correctional staff, a the debate among administrators on the type of treatment to be used which is “correctional-rather than a therapeutic-response.(Farabee, Prendergast, Cartier, Wexler, Knight, Anglin) Findings/Recomendations: The research project findings and recommendations indicate that if prisons expand the “limited criteria” to include inmates that do not qualify recidivism dramatically decreases. The treatment staff/correctional staff issue needs to be addressed by recruiting individuals that have proper training suitable for correctional treatment programs. Finally, it was recommended that a more “therapeutic-response” be used instead of the correctional model. (Farabee, Prendergast, Cartier, Wexler, Knight,...

...Recomendation: Lookheed made a huge mistake when estimating the breakeven point at 210 units by selling each unit for $16 million (see Appendix 1). This amount is not enough to cover the fixed cost that the company incurred before the L-1011 was on the market. Lookheed should have set a break even around 540 units in order to be profitable for investors. My recommendation for Lockheed would be to take advantage of its competitive advantage in the military aircraft field and apply its experience, know-how and financial resources on the commercial aircraft market in general. The company should have done a more extensive research about market and strategy opportunities when calculating the breakeven point. Rationale for Decision The fixed and variable costs that Lookheed incurred to make the L-1011 were too high if we consider only military client base. The gap between the price ($16 million) and variable costs ($14 million) was the insignificant amount of $2 million, not enough to cover the initial investment ($900 million) with only one market. Diversification does not only bring a higher cash flow, but also lower required rate of return. To my opinion, the required rate of return with which Lookheed Chief Financial Officer estimated the profitability of the project did not show the risk of offering only one client base. Definition of Problem The main issue in this case is the randomly estimations made by the company in order to make the project looks...
