Citycenter, NY 12345 Dear Mr. Smith, I am writing to recommend Tom Thompson for the position of Sales Manager at ABC Company. I had the pleasure of working directly with Tom during his time as a salesperson at XYZ, Inc., and his tremendous abilities never ceased to amaze me. I was Tom’s direct supervisor at XYZ, and during that time, we worked together closely, so I fully understand his capabilities. Tom’s incredible adaptability with potential clients has let him excel in sales. His uncanny ability to know what the client wants before they tell him makes customers feel comfortable with him. His flexibility also allows him to quickly switch tactics if the customer changes their mind about something at the last minute. While at XYZ, Tom managed to sell our product to several clients who had been on the fence about wanting to buy our products for years. Tom’s great connection with the customers and relentless perseverance to always make the customer happy allowed him to become the number one salesperson at our company for five years in a row. The sales numbers he reached far exceeded any previous winners. Tom is also able to work effectively with other co-workers, making him a great addition to the team. After taking the initiative to sign up for classes on leadership and interpersonal skills, he even presented the information he learned to the rest of the company, which dramatically improved the way we communicate. I have enjoyed watching the way he has grown and excelled at XYZ, Inc. With his abilities, adaptability, and dedication, Tom will make a great Sales Manager for ABC Company. I have no doubts you will be exceptionally pleased if you hire him. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at the above address. Sincerely,

Actions Would You Recommend to Barney Frank

...As the chairman of the Finance Committees of the House and Senate, he made a significant contribution to rescue the Subprime Crises effort in United States. I have some recommendations to him for this terrible events. In the first place, I think that the investment banks need to be combined with the commercial banks. There are several reasons why I suggest him. During the Subprime Crises from 2007 to 2009, the leverage of the investment banks were so high. The investment banks with the high leverage went to bankrupt in this events. That means the management and operation of the investment banks had some problems. This problem could be solved by regressing the investment banks back to the commercial banks. Secondly, the Federal Reserve need to take charge of the investment banks and commercial banks after they are combined. The benefit is the supervisors from Federal Reserve could better understand the high leverage investment banks’ operation and management process and protect the depositors’ profit. At the same time, if the investment banks stayed in trouble due to the volatile market, the Federal Reserve can rescue them easily. Furthermore, the reserve in the investment banks are not enough to support them to pay off the high interest rate to the investors if the uncertainty effort of the market increase like the Subprime Crises. So, commercial banks could help them with the stable money supply. The second recommendation is Federal Reserve and government need to figure...

Unit 9 Lab Recommend It Security Policies to Help Mitigate Risk

...Unit 9 Lab Recommend IT Security Policies to Help Mitigate Risk IS3350 1. Which IT assets did you prioritize as critical to administrative or student computing? I prioritize the file servers and the teachers’ notebook as critical to administrative and student computing. 2. List your top five (5) risk exposures for which you believe this school should have specific risk mitigation strategies. - No firewall - Unauthorized access to school computers - Open connections on the WLAN. - The principals traveling notebook can carry a virus - wireless access security 3. Given the potential risks that you identified, what IT security policies would you recommend be created by the school to help mitigate each of the identified risk exposures you listed in #above? I would say create an AUP and a policy that implements the encryption of the file servers. First and foremost a comprehensive security policy that takes into consideration the variables and factors at the school. This includes students, teachers, physical access, layout of the school and property, security measures as defined by FERPA, HIPAA, etc. A password policy needs to be in place that stresses complexity, minimum length (recommendations) and recycling or expiring passwords. This could be accomplished with a minimum length of 8 characters, one being a capital letter, one being a number, and one being a special character. Physical security should be setup in a way that there are locked...

What Would You Recommend for the Alliance (Between Fiat & Tata) to Be Successful?

...In May 2012, Fiat and Tata Motors have ended their alliances after a 5 year relationship. According to the article, Tata stated that “the venture with Fiat has not been as active as we had thought”. Why are alliances failing? How can they succeed? Alliances between companies have become crucial to business success and it cannot be done without a disciplined approach. In order to maximize success, there are 5 key elements which should be in placed: 1. Partner Selection In order to select a good partner, the company needs to collect information, data from informed third parties and conduct face-to-face meetings between senior managers. Both partners should have common strategic aspirations with each other and also resources and capabilities to achieve strategic goals. Poor partner selection may lead to failure in alliances. Having a right choice will reap in benefits to introduce new technology, skill, personnel, access to new markets and dividing risks. 2. Alliance Structure Both partners should move from a range of individual opinions and considerations into a single alliance’s decision. To help this, a clear template could be implemented that outlines the criteria to be used in discussions, guiding both partners to evaluate in the same direction. In February 1994, Volvo and Renault announced the dissolution of their strategic alliance. Robert B. & Robert S. (1998) found that there was a significant lack of alignment between them. Both managements were...

What Od Strategies Would You Recommend to Facilitate the Major Transformation That's Needed?

...What OD strategies would you recommend to facilitate the major transformation that's needed? Further to your question on the strategies I would recommend to actively facilitate much needed transformation. I would say that prior to any recommendation of Organisation Development intervention or strategies being implemented that committed approach by key stakeholders must be sought through elements of Transformation planning, which can be defined as the process of developing a strategic plan for modification of an Organisation’s business processes through the modification of policies, procedures, and processes to move the organization from its current state to a desired state of functionality. Currently a situation exists where despite functional coordinated operations unit much independent action takes place due to individual manager’s disregard and non acknowledgement of existing channels of interoperability based on their individual and viewpoints, that ideology exists that as long as their department meets their monthly targets that the situation is acceptable. This approach causes dislocation and much reprociticy of effort across the business. In terms of Organisational Transformation as highlighted in my earlier post. I do believe we are being driven to change our strategic direction due current market dynamics and shifts. The following excerpt perhaps provides an interesting snapshot of some of the realities currently existing within the business. “Innovation...

Should Gentry Lee Recommend Launch or Delay for the Mbe Mission? What Are the Most Important Factors to Consider in This Decision?

...Jet Propulsion Laboratory Harvard Business School Case 9-110-031 1.1 Should Gentry Lee recommend launch or delay for the Mars Biological Explorer (MBE) mission? Gentry Lee should recommend the launch for the MBE mission. As stated in the case study, Gentry Lee is introduced to the project with a significant amount of experience working with NASA and interplanetary exploration missions (Kaplan and Mikes, 2010). Multiple review boards took place to discuss in detail the consequences and likelihood of risks occurring. Tiger teams were established to find resolutions to existing problems weeks before the launch date. The case study eludes to a high probability of the budget increasing if the launch is delayed, and the probability the mission would not be successful was low. Because of this, Gentry Lee should recommend the launch of the MBE mission. 1.2 What are the most important factors to consider in this mission? JPL invested substantial time “Identifying, measuring, and applying risk factors against the value opportunity and the cost of failure” (VMware 2013). This methodology was a key process to deciding to launch or delay the launch of MBE. One factor that had an impact is regarding the current team members. Because CalTech operated Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), it is likely that the majority of engineers part of the mission team, were new graduates from CalTech. At that moment in the project life cycle, engineers have been in place for years and gained...

5. Based on Your Response to Question 4 Above, Recommend Both a Short-Range and Long-Range Plan for Mcdonald’s to Implement.

.... How should McDonald's respond when ads promoting healthy lifestyles featuring Ronald McDonald are equated with Joe camel and cigarette ads? Should McDonalds's eliminate Ronald McDonald in its ads? Eliminating Ronald McDonald, who is the brand mascot, is not the solution. Rather many people connect with Ronald McDonald emotionally. According to a survey, Ronald is among top 25 mascots of all times. (Top survey, 2007) Ronald McDonalds can visit to schools for educating students about the importance of health and a healthy lifestyle. This will have the positive image of the mascot and further, Ronald McDonald could involve in charities where the mascot can be seen in giving charities to the unfortunate children. All the above would help in gaining the image of Ronald McDonalds back. McDonald should react to this issue in a calm and positive way as still many kids and parents are in love with the Ronald and would like to see their favorite whenever they visit to the outlet. By making people know that it is the perception which people will need to change. By imbibing healthier lifestyle is the solution, not protesting the mascot. 2. Discuss the merits of the law proposed by France that would require fast-food companies either to add a health message to commercials or to pay 1.5 % tax on their ad budget. Propose a strategy for McDonald's to pay the tax or add health message and defend your recommendation. The law would make the advertisers to add a health message in their...

Describe an Experience When You Needed to Fill Out a Form on a Web Page. What Was the Purpose of the Form? What Would You Recommend to Improve the Form?

...Describe an experience when you needed to fill out a form on a web page. What was the purpose of the form? What would you recommend to improve the form? During the course of my life I have had to fill out many different web forms for many different sources. Over this same period I have found some frustrations while using these forms and at other times I have come across a form or two that does exactly what the form was written for. For the purpose of this assignment I will go into detail about a certain form in which I had a negative experience with. Online shopping has become very big over the last 5 years or so. Buying items that the consumer wants and needs over the Net is much more convenient than packing up the children, wasting gas, and hitting traffic to go to the store to purchase the same item. The bottle neck here though is the sign up forms to create an account in order to purchase. I had added to my shopping cart several items that I had wished to purchase. Afterwards I was to create an account in order to complete the transaction and possibly sign in at a later date and purchase more items. The form needed the common things such as name, address information, contact numbers and a user created user name and password. This is where the problems started. After completing the long form I created a user name that apparently someone else owned. The form threw an error which is okay unto it’s own. The problem though, was that none of my form data was saved and I had...

Based on Scott’s (2007) Article, Recommend Whether Your Company Should Build, Buy, or Outsource Enterprise Software. How Practical Is It for an Entire Enterprise to Have Only Architecture of Object-Oriented Software?

...ou’ve committed a dangerous act by printing Grady Booch’s article “The Irrelevance of Architecture” (May/June 2007). Way too many people already feel that architecture is irrelevant, and they’ll be tempted to read the misleading title, skip the article, and forever use Booch as proof of their erroneous beliefs about architecture. Additionally, I should admonish Booch for the invalid assumptions and errors of omission his article propounded on the way to reaching an otherwise good conclusion—namely, that architecture is quite relevant. A better conclusion would have been that a proper systems architecture is vital, desires of the agile cowboy coding hackers notwithstanding. One always has an architecture. It might have been done explicitly; otherwise, it’s ultimately defined by whatever the developers came up with. It all depends on which end of the dog is wagging the other. And this is not some Big-Endian vs. Little-Endian religious dispute (see Danny Cohen’s article “On Holy Wars and a Plea for Peace” in the October 1981 issue of Computer). When it comes to dogs, the tail should be the thing wagged, just as a design should be dictated by an architecture. And architecture is relevant to the end users. Without starting with a proper systems architecture, the end result won’t serve users well. They might not care about the implementation details, but they do care that the interface and functionality suit their needs when delivered. Although Booch observes the generic relationship...

Lisa Estimated That Out and About Plc Will Need to Raise £14 Million for Its New Marketing Budget. Using Appendix B , and Any Other Relevant Data, Assess Out and About Plc Ís Current Financial Position and Recommend How

...Out and About plc Capital is the funds that are invested into a business to be used for the growth and expansion of a business. In the case of Out and About plc, they are going to use this capital in order to fund its marketing budget. Out and About have a current ratio of 0.87:1 and an acid test ratio to one. This suggests that they are suffering from very severe liquidity problems especially short term liquidity. As they have £800 million worth of non-current assets, it would be useful for them to sell off some of these assets because it will increase the amount of cash they have, thus also increasing their current assets figure. Also, they could then use this cash to also reduce its current liabilities figure by paying off some its trade payables; this then will cause both their current ratio and acid test ratio to increase. Trade debtors are worth £70 million out of the £140 million of current assets. This means that they make up 50% of the total current assets. The trade receivables take 87 days to pay the business back; this suggests that they are to very quick in terms of repayment. This will cause further problems for Out and About plc because it could mean that they may not receive payments from its debtors causing them to write these debts off as 'bad debts'. If these bad debts start to build up, this can cause a business's expenses to increase and the value of the receivables asset to decrease. One major concern for Out and About plc is its profit margins...
